2015 Edge Sport 21" Wheels - Keep 'em or get smaller?
onyxbfly replied to johnraz's topic in Wheels & Tires
That's odd I checked Continental's website and they don't have them listed. I also checked tire rack and discount tire.... I know I'm not going crazy so i decided to check eBay..... This Continental DWS06 is 295/40/21! Continental-ExtremeContact-DWS06-295-40R21XL Not wanting to assume but I'm not sure if Continental is making Extreme Contact DWS06 in our size any more. -
I believe that the 19+ are shipping with v3.2 They may eventually get 3.4 emphasis on may. Some peeps are swapping out their APIMs and, or formatting them for 3.4

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that a stock Sport is faster than a stock ST. The ST handles better than a stock Edge Sport.

2015 Edge Sport 21" Wheels - Keep 'em or get smaller?
onyxbfly replied to johnraz's topic in Wheels & Tires
Check out Continental DWS06. IMO they perform better than the Pirelli Verde tires. @037 Member 037 has few set of tire options for sale that you may be interested in. -
TGIF Group! Does anyone know where the Parking Assist Module is located in the 2015-2018 Edge Sport with Active Park Assist with front camera? According to the FSM it seems like the PAM is attached to and or integrated into the BCM. IMO I would think that the modules would/ should be separate. But I don't want to make any assumptions. Thanks in advance. Onyx

2019 edge st 2019 Edge ST--replaced the odd-shaped exhaust tips
onyxbfly replied to Jombi's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I see what you did there! You brought the sexy back, to the back of the ST! If I'm not mistaken the oval cut out you mentioned is there to help the exhaust soot from accumulating on the rear bumper. -
Buy a used 1st gen 2014 or used 2nd gen 2015 Edge?
onyxbfly replied to timeshifter's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I'd go with the 2016 mostly because why not. You might be able to find a 2016 that still has some factory warranty left. Which in turn will allow you to buy an extended warranty for a cheaper price. The extended warranty will be more expensive if the edge is out of warranty. (If having an extended warranty is important to you, some people chose to self insure and save for repairs etc, some like peace of mind that the extended warranty assures them but that's a different conversation) You also have your choice of 2.0 ecoboost or 3.5V6 in the 2015+ or 2.7 ecoboost if you decide to go with a sport. Keep in mind that the 2015+ is the last year that the sport trim is available in FWD. 2016+ the sport trim is only available in AWD. The 2015+ AWD have a drain hole on the PTU which allows for easier fluid changes. Every manufacturer learns from their mistakes/ missteps from the previous generation. Ford implemented a ton of improvements in the 2015+ If I were to choose a 14 over a 15 it would be due to the fact that I like the body style more than the 15-18. It would need to have good service records and I would be prepared to put the difference of the savings of the price into immediate maintenance. (plugs, coil packs, filters fluid changes etc. Transmission flushed and changed, at minimum drain and filled.) I would go with FWD unless I absolutely needed AWD. AWD is great in the snow etc but can potentially have issues with the PTU. (Edge transfer case) Then again studies have proven that FWD is equal to if not superior than AWD with proper tires and good driving habits. My ladies 2013 edge is on its 3rd PTU. I had it replaced under warranty and she had it replaced under warranty. The extended drivetrain warranty has expired and it served its purpose. She's well aware of the potential problems with the water pump and PTU. We change the PTU fluid every other oil change and we change the coolant once a year regardless of the mileage. Fun fact she does less than 1 mile/ day. She loves the car and its paid for. But we already had the discussion of what if and what we are prepared to do in case of. There have been some cases of PTU failures in the 2015+ but nothing like the 2011-2014. Some say that they 3.5 has a potential flaw with the internal water pump. Fords declaration of proper maintenance seems ambiguous and is open to interpretation if the maintenance will prevent a water pump failure. I have not heard of any water pump failures on the 3.5V6 in the 2015+. I'm sure some exist but I don't recall hearing of them. I have heard of some failures with the Taurus. As you know all vehicles require proper maintenance. I'm not trying to scare you nor deter you from a 2014. There are members here with 200K+ miles on their 2011-2014 edges! You would just need to be more mindful and diligent with it. -
Sounds like you are well on the path of wellness. No pun intended.

Buy a used 1st gen 2014 or used 2nd gen 2015 Edge?
onyxbfly replied to timeshifter's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
While the idea of getting a 2015 may seem tempting, I'd have to suggest to take a look at the 2016s. In my neck of the woods they're similarly priced. I would not buy a 2014 unless my options were limited and the budget dictated it. What trims are you considering? The only trims that are comparable to your Lexus would be the titanium and the sport. I understand the love affair with Honda. Every manufacturer has their niggles and their issues but Hondas have great warranties and usually drop dead reliable. At least in my experience. You can get close to the same level of reliability with your edge with proper maintenance. I also understand the need to steer away from Honda because most of them (not all) look like and feel like appliances. Don't get me wrong they have great packages and options. Ford would benefit by implementing some of their features but I digress. A lot of the Hondas I see on the road just seem like they lost their soul. They're not visually appealing. -

2016 Edge Titanium headlights.
onyxbfly replied to SWC's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
These are the bulbs that my co worker recommended to me, He has them in a 2018 Edge SEL. They seem to have to even light output between both of them. I was throughly impressed with them when I saw them. iJDMTOY-OEM-Fit-License-Plate-Light Your bulbs are much cheaper and If I buy a lot of them I can use them in the interior as well. That's a good point about the video, Something that should definitely be take into consideration when evaluating potential differences in brightness, reach, illumination etc. That video came out well after I had my Osrams. The 4300k are a cooler bulb. I was thinking that the benefits would outweigh the cooler bulb. The osrams I recommended are a perfect match for the DRL in the bumper. Mine are 5500k Omar's are 5000k I don't think that the 500k difference is going to make that much of a difference to all but the most discerning eye.- 10 replies

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I am currently D3S: OSRAM XENARC 66340 CBI. They are 5500k. You can purchase them from: D3S: OSRAM XENARC 66340 CBI I have been thinking about the changing out the DRL. Just haven't given it much thought. I might have to check out the bulbs that Omar mentioned. You may find this video informative. I've been curious about the Osram Xenark 66340 Night Breaker Laser.- 10 replies

You can roll up your windows via forscan. Global open and close is not available on the Edge like the fusion and MKX/ Nautilus. -
Welcome to the forum. Glad you got it sorted out and resolved your issue.

SYNC3 Map Updates Available On Line
onyxbfly replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I purchased my car used. Had I purchased my car new I would have a legitimate concern with how old the maps on my new car. No not everyone knows that the maps are out of date. How other vehicles are optioned out is not really the point. I am discussing the options that my edge sport with 401A package consist of. Navigation is part of the 401A package. I drive from location to location for my work. If my cell coverage is down etc I should be able to rely on the navigation that i paid for. Since I purchased my car used I assumed they would be out of date. If I purchased my car new I would have concerns. Ford knows there maps are out of date. Why not simply say so and let the customer decide.
