2008 SE: Bilstein and H&R shocks and lowering sprins ?
garycrist replied to chrisg's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I used KYBs for our 2008. -
Is that the fuel tank, as I've not been under one like that? That isn't a purge valve for the fuel evaparotive emission system?

I am not going to get into a keyboard war. I would suggest one read up on the Shrader Valve. For the longest time all of the service port covers were made of metal. Some like GM, had a rubber seal on the High Side port cap. Fords and Chrysler products had brass.. I am sure that the seat material is probably Teflon based rather than Nitrile as in the past, thus requiring fewer replacements. I used to replace them on all my A/C services to reduce the probility of a come-backs due to less than a dollars worth of parts. I guess that A/C service has changed since Ford Certified me in Heating and Air Conditioning...

It appears they are holding the speed more closely than before. That would make sense for blending with autonomous driven cars, like "BlueCruise.

Even turning off Adaptive, it still uses the rear brakes. I had already turned it off.

Air cleaner, cold air inlets & associated
garycrist replied to enigma-2's topic in Accessories & Modifications
The K&N type air filters were designed for competition automobiles on dirt tracks. -
Did you check the fusible links?

Adaptive and I've just about turned off most of the bells and whistles. I like making some of the spastic red warning light , buzzer and steering wheel shake, when making some quick moves. We might be old, but we bought this to drive, not squish about town in a "Jelly mobile".

In reading the discussion on Steering Wheel upgrades, it got me thinking. One of the things I hate the most is the Cruise Control on the 22 ST and the stupid way it works. Every time it goes down a hill the rear brake come on when in normal times it should coast. Now I am wondering if the paddle shift might stop that crap. I usually goose the gas just a bit to stop the brake application. It is no wonder these thing eat rear pads.

What was the warranty period for these batteries? Who makes your brand of battery?

Back in '68, I wanted some of those RWLs too. I had a set of Dayton "Wide Ovals" on my 63 Galixie 500. But, they were black letters only. So, I sat down one day with my bottle of Testor's Model Paint and paint brush. I then made my own Raised White Lettered tires. (RWL in the tire biz).. Now maybe he'll go for Gangster Wides. But, this thread is only 10 years old..... My how things have changed.

On our 22 ST with 22 inch wheels, the wife ran it into a curb destroying the new tires and I knew the wheels were junk! I took them down to a wheel place and a week later I picked them up mounted and balanced (I supplied the tires) good as new for a couple hundred bucks. They looked and work like new. The work done by some of these places is astounding!

Have you raised the idle while stopped with your foot on the brake too? If V8, welcome to the world of unbalanced engines as they are configured as 2, 3 cylinder engines with a common crank. AS a side note, my 08 (215K miles) does the same at idle in gear, until I press the gas pedal just a bit.

AM Radio Reception 2015 Edge
garycrist replied to Dmtaurus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Once they got rid of any thing that resembles an antenna and replaced it with a Ferrite Core, reception has not been the same! Replacing the "Shark Fin" with "Rubber Duck" or anything else, might be detrimental to reception too. The antenna for AM reception, needs to be matched to the radio. -
There was a video of them dismantling the Edge production line in Oakville. But, EVs are not the answer!

Edge sways all over the road above 70 mph.
garycrist replied to ibChuck's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
In reading the above scenario with the 22 ST, (I have one too) if he did a quick maneuver, and a transient fault happened (no DTC set) the input could have been changed to last good known or his quick response. Until the system quits being stupid and go back to "normal", his inputs will be magnified. I love the steering in the 22 ST as it is more responsive than our 08 Edge. -

Yes on a whim or a lost "bit". No wonder MS Windows is not in the Cockpit. -
