  1. Tire Rack is Discount Tire! Discount is big enough that it can specify the compounds in the thread section of the tire regardless of the manufacturer. An example was the Yokohama tire line with 3 different selections for the same size tire. I could easily tell one to expect with normal driving 40K+ miles. The next was a street performance tire one could achieve plenty of miles but had hardened over time and have next to no traction (20K-35K)! The last was for racing/street(ha ha), with the better driver getting the fewest miles(5K-12K)! Those were the king in SCCA racing too or, if you were not running them you were not winning. When the auto manufactures buy tires they specify the compounds for the tires they buy. An example was the GM TPC radial specification for tires. They skimped on the width of the steel belts and with the springs sagging as they broke in and the camber going way too positive, it caused excessive outside premature shoulder wear. But then again, people were trading in about every 18 months so, for about 15K-30K for tires.
  2. Some of the things about Discount, they sell warranties as well as tires. (DUUHH) Did you know they have tires made just for them by the same manufacturers who's name one depends. Or in other words, they sell one a tire that will never last long but, you have a warranty and they have a ready made sucker for a customer!
  3. Water! Just plain WATER! Most people have never watched a glass cutter so they never knew a simple trick. Before they score the glass, they lick their finger, then drag it behind the cutter. That weakens the glass by IIRC 3 orders of magnitude! So, a rock nick, some rain , a big bump, a twist (sounds like I am going to hurt my back again) of the body and out magic a crack zips across the glass. This is one of the reasons to repair "bulls eyes" or stars on windscreens. Just like evacuation of an A/C system, one needs to remove the water before releasing the adhesives.
  4. The 3.5L motor Ford put into the Edge is the same engine they used in the 24 hours of Le Mans with different pistons putting out 650 HP!
  5. Automobiles are a "Crap Shoot". You may even use loaded dice and slide them too, but in the end they can bite you with some out of the blue problem. Something like a rod bolt breaking or a piston skirt crack, real out of the blue unforeseen failures. Buy it, enjoy it and don't worry about it. (215,000 miles on our 08 with only minor maintenance and OE belts ).
  6. I'll guess bad battery for $500. (HINT HINT) When I lived in California and worked on all makes, sometimes it was tough to take me seriously when I told some of my clients their carburetors ran out of oil!
  7. @Waldoyou want to know "How is an engine not running harder on it than running?","Cold starts are hard on an engine, but the auto stop start won't let it turn off when it's still cold." Did you ever think about that little turbo still spinning it's little heart out while the engine is off? How about the heat-soak of the oil in the Turbo that is still spinning (no oil pressure any longer) coking -up. One will NEVER recover $$$ from gasoline savings from "Auto Stop Start" vs the shortened lifetime of the 2 turbochargers!
  8. Every car I've put shocks on, always felt better and drove nicer.Steins are a preimium high pressure gas shock like some of the KYB Gas Adjust or Konis. So the only performance shock for us are Bilsteins. You will love them too. The high pressure gas mono tube shocks, smooth out over springed vehicles.
  9. Thank You @FordGuy309 for helping the next person that as a washer problem. Once more buying junk parts from Amazon is a BIG CRAP SHOOT that might work errr most of the times...
  10. If you have rear washer and no front, then the front squirters are probably plugged up and it"s time to get a new pair.
  11. I have one of those too.(08) They had a funky shift learning curve. Changing from 1 driver as primary, to another driver will cause it fits. Have you tried a battery disconnect on it yet?
  12. I cussed it today and everyday! I have driven stick shifts from 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 and a 15 speed road ranger. So my gripe? I hate the rotary dial in the ST, when I go to slap the shifter like in the 08 edge!๐Ÿ™ƒ
  13. Look-up "Baking Headlight in an Oven". The heat helps deglue(?) them.
  14. It depends where the tires were made even within the same MFG. and tire type. Some of the countries have JUNK rubber compounds and make a tire that will never give the rated miles. By the time the CLOWNS at the tire store get finished screwing the client with a tire adjustment, one would have been better not going there at all! That is why they sell warranties with tires. Like the guy in the commercial says, "You can pay me now and you can pay me later".
  15. Where in AZ did you live? I moved from Prescott to Dallas '98.
  16. I wondered how long it would take to realize Chinese spyware is in our Cars... https://fordauthority.com/2024/09/lincoln-nautilus-would-be-banned-under-proposed-rule/
  17. I have the ST logo lights and we love them!
  18. What weight fluid goes into the PTU and RDU a 22 ST?
  19. Thank you @BMWR1200c for the problem and it's solution! It will help others in the future..๐Ÿ™‚
  20. It sounds like multiple problems chasing you around. I would check the alternator ground. I've seen where the coatings on an alternator, will mess with the electrical system. Also, check the engine ground to body too. Simple jumper wires will suffice. If you have a multi-meter put it inline with the jumper wire in DC range and see if a voltage is present. (voltage indicated a bad ground) Do that for both the alternator and engine grounds. Also check the Battery cables clean if necessary. Next see if the power side of the fan and lights are on the same circuit (same fuse). If not then check for a common ground on the fan/lights. (If common ground, then it is back to the engine /alternator). GL 73
