  1. That makes sense. Mine is not that loud but is a light engaging like clunking sound, like an electronic actuator of sorts. At first I thought it had something to do with the door locks or hatch locking mechanism but dismissed that as a 'why would it do that' thing. As for the RDU, yeah it sound like that is it, but I am still wondering why it would do a test every time you open the door. Seems like a waste in all honesty of both power and wear and tear on an item. Especially without the keys on you. But whatever they want to do to save time. Not sure why it could not self test when you push the starter button since it is not like you can quickly start and throw this thing in gear that would not allow time for the test or whatever. Oh well. Problem solved. ?
  2. Well I wonder who is right and what it is then? Half the people in the thread say pump priming prepping for a start. Mine does not make any sounds if I do not have the key on me, locked or unlocked. I grab the handle locked and nothing without the key. I open the doors when unlocked without the key and nothing. I grab a handle with it and I hear the sound right in front of the drivers side read wheel area or the wheel area itself. Not sure what else needs to prepare other than the low pressure side getting ready to feed the HPFP. But whatever. I really don't care, it makes a sound and it seems no one knows what it is but you know what it is not. ?
  3. It is the fuel pump priming. It will only do it if the key is on you. Open a door without your key on you and it does nothing, if unlocked of course.
  4. Interesting. I can't get anywhere near that kind of wheel spin when brake torquing with my Livernois 93 tune. Which tune do you have? Just curious.
  5. I have honestly never had wheel hop on my ST on any corner! I am tuned and have the 20's with the Hankooks on them and they just spin and grip. Never hop. Now my Focus ST was a different story but that was almost eliminated with an RMM. I know the Edge ST and the Sport do come with a softer RMM for less NVH and I wonder if that would have been a solution as well. Since it would stop the engine from shifting so much and sending a jolt down the drivetrain when it hits its end of travel.
  6. I had it fully warmed up yesterday sound like a loud ass bang, I had the window down and was putting it into D after stopping home to put the dogs out and leaving.
  7. Is anyone else experiencing the hard engagements from P to D or R to D or D to R like this. I get it randomly just wondering about everyone else?
  8. I would like to see another Livernois revision. From what I have read from the Sport they did not get the max out of the first few revisions. I have revision 3 right now. I may email them after this post to see what the status of any future revisions is.
  9. Nice to see another Northern NY'er. And yeah I would love to go.
  10. I am getting slightly better mileage since I tuned it. Which is funny because I floor it even more now. Lol! But I imagine if I was doing my trips back and forth from PA to NY that I used to do when I lived in PA that I would be getting a higher average MPG. But I do just drive to work and back now and to shopping. I accelerate hard and yeah this engine seems to suck the gas down quick when doing that compared to how much the Focus ST did as compared to the City rating. According to Fuely I still get around 17mpg, so lower than city rating. My Focus got a bit better than City rating while driving the same route. So that was my biggest complaint, I did not expect Focus mileage but kind of close to the rating compared to previous vehicles. But I love the power and vehicle so oh well I will deal with it. LOL
  11. I think the bulletin states it is a 1.5hr job but I can't imagine it takes that long. I had them do mine on my first oil change so my dad took it to the dealer, he works there, so they had it all day.
  12. I agree that the TSB should be applied before even letting someone test drive it since it is for a driveability issue. And I assume it does not take to long as it is just a software update so how ever l long the programming takes.
  13. How many have they actually sold. I do not see any other ST's in my area. I see more Raptors than Edge ST's or Sports, heck I have seen more Nautilus 2.7's. Do you have any sales figures as I am kind of curious. Sure there are only a few enthusiasts that notice the vehicles issues but that does not make it right. The magazine reviews alone all complaining about the same thing is a problem. Many people looking for such a vehicle and to spend $50K for an SUV that is sporty probably read them. And launching the ST was not something new for Ford, they just renamed the thing and beefed it up a bit. Heck they managed to add more power and somehow make it slower. They made mistake with this models transmission and should have effort into testing, both in the ST and the normal models.
  14. And they have never seen an executive listening to a focus group say they want something else. I mean obviously the transmission can shift better since LMS has managed to get it to. So your telling me that some executive could not have possibly said 'no we do not want it to shift that way make it more comfortable shifting'. Really you want me to believe that an Engineers ideas have never been shot down?
  15. Oh I assume they tried and someone up above the Engineers said 'no we will sell more if it is comfortable and soft' than if it is fast/quick and fun. Then with the Explorer they learned their lesson and said lets make the Sport button Sporty. Sadly the reviews for the the Edge ST are not very good in the transmission department and it shows since they are not flying off the shelves so to speak. Oh well.
  16. I just wish they maybe did some better programming, sure comfort is nice but why change the name to ST if you are gong to keep it all 'comfy' shift wise. People want Comfy then buy a titanium or if they want a 2.7TT then buy the Lincoln. If you want to call it ST then make it one. There was nothing 'Comfy' about my Focus ST. And they are not selling these ST's like wildfire in my area. Heck with 3 dealers withing spitting distance of me, 20 miles, they have 7 total and the only one sold so far is mine around here and I had it dealer traded to get what I wanted. The dealer I bought mine from has 4, with the one I looked at first 7 months ago still there. Maybe they would sell better if they would have made it more ST than 'comfy' I guess. Lol, Then again I have only seen 2 Edge Sports in my area ever, I see more Raptors.
  17. I know this. That does not mean they could not have programed the Edge trans better. I mean it is not like they just threw an 8 speed trans in the vehicle on a whim. And if Livernois or other tuners can make it shift better than Ford should have done that from the get go. It is supposed to be an ST so it should be quicker shifting. Like I said they programmed, made, the Explorer ST shift better than even the Mustang so it is setup to be more 'Sporty' from the start.
  18. It would be, Seems they cared with the Explorer ST programming, even made it better than a Mustang GT shifting wise. But not for the Edge ST.
  19. Oh it is off. Lol! I do not start driving until after I press that button to off. Some days I hold it just to make sure I get no nanny interventions.
  20. Sadly I can not find E85 anywhere near me, not within 100 miles of my location. ?
  21. Best so far using my Dragy, no strips near me anywhere, is 13.59@99.39 on 93 LMS tune. I have recorded that time 3 times when in Sport Mode and launching around 3000 RPM, I am guessing since I did not have the tach up on the display and am going by the one next to the fuel display so I am guessing since it was between 2K and 4K on the scale.
  22. Yes the Edge ones end about an inch into the fascia, I have no idea of why but I just was sort of assuming it had something to do with soot and keeping it off the rear of the vehicle. Maybe air flow through that setup keeps it off the back end.
  23. Go look at an Explorer ST or even the Platinum, the exhaust tips are fake. Put your finger in one and they are blocked. The actual exhaust exits out the bottom under the tips to keep soot down and off the tips and bumper cover.
