  1. I am sure they do as they would want them to last longer than the warranty. I was being a wise ass, although partially serious because they want them to last at least the warranty period so they would not need to replace them on their dime. That is just good business. I am not saying they do not want them to last longer, since that failure at that milestone would be bad for business as well. Either way they are not going to run the engine on the ragged edge of blowing up or put to much power down to explode the tans the first time someone floors it. They leave wiggle room, but being a new transmission no one knows how much wiggle room there is. In regards to why the F-150 has more power, it is because the transmission can handle more power as most RWD based transmissions can due to the fact that they can be made larger and built stronger. Also the 10 speed has been around longer and put in vehicles with more power and more stress on them. The 8F57 trans is new and so far only in two vehicles so its limits are not known as of yet by anyone except the Ford Engineers.
  2. I like this idea actually. So far you have to look in the 2.7EB, 2.0EB, Ecoboost Mods and Tech, and ST sections for any information about tuning. One section to talk about it just seems easier. Especially since the same companies seem to tune both. It would also be nice to see people talk about the actual tunes, like how they 'feel' and maybe some performance numbers they have seen. I come from the FoST world where of course they have many tuners and even though the tunes all do about the same power they do have differences that are discussed. Personally I am looking at something like the LMS but no one seems to answer anything about gains in normal every day driving or 0-60 or changes in shifting in the different modes. Sure there is a blurb on the site but it is all very general. There are no specifics about it other than some gains numbers and people crabbing it does not have the same power gains as the Sport on the ST version. Gains are great but I want to know how it is doing in all areas so hopefully this section will help a little more.
  3. That $50K price point seems to scare a lot of people. The dealer I got mine from has 4 of them, one has been there since before I bought mine. They have only sold the one I have and it was a dealer trade since I did not want the one they had. Another dealer has 2 and they have had one of them since before I got mine and have not sold one yet. Another just got theirs a few weeks ago. These are all in the 20 mile radius of me. So 7 of them just sitting on the lots. Heck one dealer has 18 2019 Explorers on their lot with 2 of them being Sport models, with the new 2020's on the way. I have had mine since 12/31/18. And we only have around $2500 in rebates on the ones in our area. The Explorers now are a better deal since they have almost $9K in rebates and dealer cash, in this area. You got a deal at $11K off since we don't get those kinds of rebates and dealer cash here, sadly it varies by location.
  4. I assume you are correct with the lower torque. They want to make sure the trans lasts at least the warranty period and it is new so they probably tuned it down a bit. Sure the engine can produce more power but if you look at the downpipes alone compared to what the F-150 layout allows you would see they have to squeeze that stuff in on the Transverse layout. On a Longitudinal you get a heck of a lot more room for that stuff, allowing for better flow and more power. Not to mention the transmissions in a Longitudinal layout can handle more torque/power that the Transverse in most cases.
  5. It would be interesting of some people could at least do a 0-60 test if they have an OBDII adapter and an app. I checked mine stock and actually get 5.8 seconds pretty much every way I try it. I mean at some point I will get the tune just was hoping to get someone to see what they can do. I like those kinds of numbers just as a comparison over the power numbers. But even with LMS Dyno of the tune and the gains of around 60hp and torque in other parts of the power band it seems like a great tune. Maybe that would make people more happy. Lol!
  6. . You also have to remember that the ST starts out with slightly higher numbers stock then the Sport so you need to add those to the gains to compare the two. The Sport also was around a few years so their tune would be more refined and they would know what the trans and PTU could handle. Obviously the 2.7TT can produce more power and torque than it does in the ST so I would like to think it is a work in progress. Unless of course someone asks LMS or Unleashed to just see what they can produce using their brand new vehicle as a test mule and push it until it pops. I would personally be happy with improved shifting and more power but no need to go overboard as I want safe as well, and the torque to come on in 1st and 2nd and not be limited. I have never driven a Sport so I do not know how they are off the line but the ST limits boost in 1st and 2nd as to either prevent wheelspin or prevent damage to the drivetrain(probably both). The Focus ST also limited 1st and 2nd gear so you did not spin the crap out of the tires, because it could do it even limited let alone full boost(I had to tuned FoST that I did not have the boost limited in 2nd and it would light them up even more). Anyway it really is not all about the max peak gains I also want more power across the whole rev band since I am not really at redline all day long. Which these tunes seem to have.
  7. You mean the one with Ford Performance on it that only covers the front of the engine? I think they really are just there for looks as I am not sure how much heat they could actually shield from the hood. I had a FoST and it was there just for looks on that, although much easier to pull off since it just had a few push pins holding it down that it pushed into. It may shield some injector chatter but I doubt it since the back bank is not covered.
  8. If they are anything like the FoST adaptive lights you will really only notice them if you are swerving back and forth at like 10 MPH on a very dark road. You will then see the shift right to left most noticeably. When driving it is harder to spot unless it is very dark, no other lighting and you steer quickly, if you are smooth about it they just seem to follow the road like any other lights(but lighting better in the actual path of the vehicle). But that is how the FoST Adaptive HID's looked. The ones on the Edge I really have no personally seen, but they have a second reflector that I do not know if that is what moves or if the main light moves. In normal Edge ST with a 400A package the inner light by the grill is a turn signal lamp not like the extra reflector in the 401A package. On the Focus the main projector moves left to right and there are no other lights added for it to function. But I assume the path is lit the same way.
  9. After almostr 4000 miles my shifting is still not anywhere near perfect. I do not always drive it the same way. Some days I like to drive it nice and hard and other just 1/2 to 3/4 pedal and it seems to not like this at all. There are times I put it in Sport mode and paddle shift to optimize my shift points, it is of course to slow to do this without planning ahead of when you want it to shift. Sometimes in this case it just is to slow on an input and shifts two gears at once because it thinks I wanted that by the time is actually shifts. I am talking seconds of delay, like 3-5 from input to actual shift. I am not sure why they even put the option to paddle shift on this thing if it is not even going to come even remotely close to being usable. Anyway when the lease is up I will just be done with it and move on to something with a real auto-trans, DCT or better auto since it is hard to find a manual in a vehicle I would want. Maybe the Explorer ST will shift better or the MKZ will still be available and by then the trans issues worked out. But the Edge ST is a disappointment to me in the trans aspect. Great power buy getting it where and when I want it just does not seem to be consistent. I love the vehicle when it performs as I would like it to. Maybe try the LMS tune and see if the trans works better with that since I have 2.5 years to go.
  10. Not to get to much off topic. But which tune, 91 or 93 and options. Also what else do you have? I am looking at it for the ST and have 93 available pretty much everywhere. I also assume the LMS tunes are somewhat safe, I come from a FoST where they push a little further with some tunes and you have to keep an eye on things. I want enjoyable without needing to babysit it. ?
  11. The funny part is that in the auto industry LED are HID's as well anyway. They fit the very definition of High Intensity Discharge. The Euro's do it better because they have more strict rules to follow that the US seem to not use, such as auto leveling and headlight washers. At least that was the case with my Mercedes, those were required for import but do not seem required for actual US vehicles.
  12. Having driven and owned Ford's with both headlights I will tell you that the LED implementation is better than the bi-Xenon version. The FoST adaptive ones were nice and better than the Edge ST but only in a straight line since they were adaptive and focused more forward. Their MKC Bi-X are worse throw and view wise than the Escape headlights. The Edge is by far a better, brighter, longer viewing depth than the MKC and Escape. Now compare to my 2003 Benz I had with BiX, the Ford's suck at all of their attempts I have personally driven or been in. I am curious as to what the Adaptive LED lights look like in the Nautilus though since they are multi-reflector/lights. But I can tell you the Edge ones are better than some other Bi-X headlights. I really like the Benz ones though since they were Bi-Xenon main light, for low and high beam, with an added Halogen Hi-Beam for even more light.
  13. Between the same reviewers the Sport is 5.7 and the ST is 5.8. So quicker than say a stock WRX or dead even with a stock STi. Horrid comparison but there are not many SUV's other than the Euro ones to compare to and they are way more money. Neither is slow but can be tuned to be quicker.
  14. The Dyno sheets even show the ST with more Torque than the Sport there. Either way if the ST was tuned to not have low boost off the line it would be much quicker. They seem to use the same tuning strategy, stock, as they do with the FoST and FiST where they limit boost in the first two gears. This may be the torque converter as well but it seems to hold just fine in upper gears. Heck I can consistently hit 18-19 psi if I am in Sport and manual shift around 5500 RPM, well hit the button then. So if they can program the trans to firm up shifts and allow more boost off the line it should be much quicker tuned. Heck I am planning on the Livernois tune just for the better shifting and was just waiting for a few revisions or tweaks. I am sure the Sport tune did not come right out with the power it produces now on the first try. Either way it depends on what the OP is looking for. Some of the updates on the ST may be worth it or if they can find a new Sport still on the lot then and get a great deal and do not want or need the new stuff then so be it. ? If they want a tune then I am sure the ST's will improve if they go that route. We have not even seen what Unleashed can do yet.
  15. But no one knows the true limits of the transmission, that is just where Livernois tunes to. The Sport has a known trans so they push it further. If you are going stock for stock though then I would think go by what you like best, the 19's have some stuff 18's do not. They are said to handle better, according to the reviews. If you are going to tune it then of course right now the Sport will get you more power with the current tunes. Who knows, maybe the ST will end up making more power and blowing the Sport away once someone sees just how much the new Trans can handle. Hell Ford can't even get the damn thing to shift as good as it was intended with the current software.
  16. Part of the 401A package on the ST and the 301A package on the Titanium.
  17. Welcome! I agree that is a great color.
  18. You should always check the gap on any plug before installing. So I would double check that if you did not.
  19. If you happen to not get this option can you just buy the rotors and pads from it as an upgrade to the stock non-performance brake package? Meaning are the calipers the same and just not painted between the two? Or do you suggest another option? I feel the brakes, even at only 6000 miles, are starting to feel almost warped under harder braking. They seem smooth normally but if you are having fun they seem to get a non-smooth feeling. Or is this just normal when trying to stop a 4600lbs vehicle.
  20. I think a lot of the 2019's are off or maybe just all the models. There is a post somewhere that states a Ford Employee found that it was off and that Ford acknowledged it with the EPA but no specific vehicles are mentioned other than the Ranger. Mine does not seem as off as it was before so I have no idea, it was around 1.4-1.5 mpg over and now it is 1.1-1.2 over. So yeah the computer makes it sound great, even my instant says I am in the lower 20's pretty much every time I am cruising along on m,y daily commute. So it must just drink gas when you go from stop to 55-65 or from 20-65, mostly flooring it. Which happens twice during my drive. I bought it to have fun so now that I know what others are getting I feel better. I posted on an Sport/ST Facebook group and those people get in the 16-17 range driving it like I do. And mine went up about 2mpg sine the trans TSB and the weather got warmer. Also seems to have gone up since I stopped trying to drive it nicely and drive it the way I normally would. It was worse when I babied it.
  21. They are much prettier. I almost wish I would have looked at one sooner. I did go to the Lincoln dealer last time I was in the area to look at MKC's for my mom, her lease ends before the Corsair will be out. I really liked them, then again I really may go with an MKZ 3.0 AWD next time around when this lease is up.
  22. I was getting 14 so yes that is better. And I only floor it to get top speed so that is not a whole lot of the time. As stated long ago, I admitted to flooring it. Just that in previous vehicles I got right at city mileage or slightly better. But when I first got her it was 14 so yeah a 3+mpg gain is big considering I drive the same exact way in every vehicle I have ever owned. Just was disappointing since my brother has an F150 with the same engine and gets 22. I honestly have never gotten below the rating on any car. I normally got better mileage cruising at 75 than the highway mileage even. Like I said Oh Well.
  23. yeah someone screwed this up. The Lincoln uses the same trans so I assume those people are not happy either. But they may not drive them anywhere near hard enough to notice. I don't even complain to my dealer since they are useless. They assume since they only sold one ST, mine, that since they do not hear anything from other customers then there is nothing they can do.
  24. My mileage has got a little better. Last tank, I just filled today, was 17.3 according to the Fuely app and 18.2 on the computer for the tank. My average is us to 17.2 on the computer and 16.2 according to the app. Seems to get in 22-24 range with the cruise set at 75. I run only 93 and the temps have gone up a bit, in the 50-60 range now. I have almost 6000 miles on it now and I accelerate pretty much 3/4 to full throttle every chance I get because I like to. But most of my trips are to work and back so roughly a 8-9 miles trip and I do that 4 times a day. It does do nicely on the highway and now that it is at least in the 17 range I am less irritated, I do wish it got what the computer states but oh well. Sounds like you are doing pretty good for your trip. And 87 is fine, I notice more boost due to less knock detected so I run that. These EcoBoost engines run the timing up then slide back at knock to get the best performance, it does not hurt it. I run 93 because I was used it to from the Focus because it was tuned for either 93 or 91, two maps.
