  1. Here's a neat trick I learned at the Bondourant driving school in Arizona. To set your left outside mirror put your cheek against the window then adjust the mirror inward or outward until you can 'just' see the side of your car. The right side is pretty much the same but adjust it out so it 'just' leaves the view of the right side. Now when you're driving you'll have a complete panoramic view. As vehicles leave the left or right side of your center (cabin) mirror they'll begin appearing in your side mirrors. The vertical adjustment is on you but ideally the mirror will put a typical car's grille smack in the middle. BTW if you're used to seeing the whole side of your car in the mirror it'll take a little time to get used to the new setup but you'll see a whole lot more road now.
  2. At the bottom of page 1 and beginning of page 2 this same thing is mentioned. I didn't check the whole thread so maybe someone came up with a solution. You don't have your profile filled in and there's no sig so I don't know the year of your Edge. If it's equipped with MFT then maybe they all just did that. If you have a '16 or later with Sync3 I've never seen that issue mentioned. BTW, if you're using a phone or audio player with your system there's one thing you 'can' do to make your system sound better. Use the equalizer settings of that device. In most cases you'll have 8-plus channels to play with instead of the 3 offered in the car's system which you should just set flat.
  3. Hi SF, Helping you would be easier (and more accurate) if you mention the year or least generation of your Edge. If you go to your profile on this forum you can add that to a sig line and never have to type the info in again. To your issue. If you have a Gen2 (2015-present) the ground connection is a stud on the firewall. With your hood open look at the firewall on the driver's side to the right of the battery. This is also a handy place to ground any under hood accessories you might add in the future. If you have a Gen1 someone else will have to help you. Cheers!
  4. Try the Odds n' Ends section of my Edge Mods site: https://www.gadgetjq.net/edge/stuff/stuff.html#rack
  5. Hey LG, Before you do anything drastic play with your seat adjustments a bit. Sometimes moving the lumbar adjustment or the tilt can make enough difference in your sitting position to eliminate (or at least reduce) the problem. If that doesn't work, consider a visit to an upholstery shop. They can pull the covers off the seats and add/remove/reshape foam so it's a custom fit for you. The cost would be a whole lot less than a full seat replacement even if you found one at a salvage yard.
  6. Hey Claude, Nice job! So others have a better chance of finding one, where did you locate the drawer? If it was an auto salvage what did they ask for it (if you don't mind).
  7. Yes, using the grommet shown above your wire will enter the cabin 'behind' the heater box. The best way to reach it is to lower the glove box lid then reach through that opening to find the wire you've pushed in from the engine compartment.
  8. 1. Make sure your tires are aired up to spec. 2. Check the power steering fluid level (there's a dipstick in the pump cap)
  9. That's a classic symptom of a bad vacuum purge valve. The problem seems to be caused most often when an owner tops off the gas with a couple of extra 'clicks' of the nozzle. Raw fuel finds its way into lines that are supposed to have air (vacuum) in them which messes things up. Sometimes though it's just an aging part gone bad. The good news is the purge valve is inexpensive and easy to replace. You'll find YouTube videos showing how to test it and, if bad, replace it.
  10. Year of your Edge might help (consider adding it as a sig or to your profile). Generally the first thing to check is your battery. Take it to an auto supply store (or your dealer if under warranty) to be tested.
  11. Ford claims the PTU contains a lifetime lubricant but then (2015 and later) adds a drain so..... Curiously, some dealers are fine with changing the lube (for a fee) while others balk so either find one that'll do the work, locate a decent transmission shop or do it yourself. It's not rocket science. I think you'll find a recommendation for the proper lubricant in your owner's manual.
  12. And confirmed, this MX+ update (5.5.3) works.
  13. Larger wheels (arguably) look better and the lower profile tire usually offers superior handling compared to a taller (more flexy) sidewall. There's the upside. Larger wheels also mean a lot more unsprung weight which can affect ride (which is already stiffened a bit by a lower profile tire). The additional weight is also a negative factor for acceleration i.e. your 0-60 time will be marginally lower with the 18" wheel than with the 21" wheel. Someday when you have a few extra minutes, visit tirerack.com and compare the exact same wheel in both 18 and 21 inch sizes then compare the exact same tire (adding up to the same circumference) in both wheel sizes. You'll find the difference can be 15 or more pounds per corner. Edit to add: While you're there, price a 21" tire compared to the 18".
  14. I've seen a couple of posts showing an Edge with a boost (+ 1 other) gauge mounted in an A-pillar housing. If you really need to watch boost all the time that might be an option. Another way to go is simply to display boost (and whatever data you want) on your phone screen. If you have an Android phone take a look at Torque Pro. You can set up multiple screens to display any data being processed by the vehicle from boost to fuel use, temperatures, voltages, time and much more. Below is an example of my normal home screen but a second screen shows trip data (time, fuel, cost, speed etc) and on it goes. If you're an iOS fan there are probably similar apps. So, pic one is my normal screen, pic two is someone else's just to show how crazy you can get. Note he has a boost gauge set up along with everything else and you can do all that with the simplest of OBDII readers plus the Torque Pro app (think it's about $5). Of course if you want you can just have one giant boost gauge on a screen. Edit to add: According to Wikipedia Ford's 2.7L Ecoboost engine sees 15-16psi of boost in stock form.
  15. Some drain is normal. Your daughter's Edge probably has an anti-theft system that's always powered up. The vehicle is also searching for a signal from her key/fob so doors will unlock on command etc. If possible she should connect a Battery Tender or other maintainer to her battery so it'll be fully charged when she does want to drive. Another alternative is to purchase an emergency start battery that can be connected to get the vehicle started but that's kind of a last resort as fully discharging a standard lead/acid battery is a sure early death for them. Here's a link to the one I own, it's served me well to get other stranded motorists on their way: https://amzn.to/2UdRMHB
  16. The OP was October 2015. That person might not even own the vehicle or be a member of the forum any longer. If you're having the same issue take a look at the easy clean and lube process posted here: https://www.gadgetjq.net/edge/roof/bamr.html Cheers!
  17. I think you might have missed the point of the mod. It's purely for convenience, a very simple way to connect a charger if it's needed. The majority of people will never connect something like this to their battery. Heck, the majority of people will just wait until the battery dies then call Triple-A. Then they'll visit a forum or Facebook group to complain about how their batteries just don't last very long. This portion of the forum is for people who enjoy modifying their vehicles and this is just one tiny (and very cheap) way to do that. Cheers!
  18. No issues and I want it to stay that way. When using FORScan I keep a charger plugged in just to partly offset battery drain. If the Edge is going to be parked for several days I'll plug in a battery tender just to top it off and maintain a full charge.
  19. These pages from the factory service manual should help: Hood Latch Release Cable.pdf Hood Latch Release Handle.pdf
  20. Hi Omar, I followed your instructions and....yep, the hatch opened as normal. I 'have' noticed in he past I have to press the button with a little bit of authority. Just tapping it often doesn't work.
  21. That doesn't sound normal. I just went out and checked mine ('16 Ti) and that button opens the hatch as long as the car is in park whether the engine is running or not, doors are locked or not.
  22. This item has been added to the Gadget Edge Mods Page: https://www.gadgetjq.net/edge/forscan/forscan.html#lgate Toggle The Liftgate Kick Sensor Off/On There seems to be a love/hate relationship with the liftgate kick sensor. Many love it for the convenience of being able to open or close the hatch with an easy foot movement toward the bumper. It's usually the 'close' part that some don't care for, especially when the liftgate tries to close while a human is leaning into the cargo compartment. It's doing that because the sensor (mounted under the bumper) thinks it sees a kick when it might simply be a normal foot movement. If that happens to you and you have a Gen2 Edge (2015-) the sensor can be turned off. To make the change, start FORScan and navigate to the BdyCM Module Configuration (not AsBuilt) and scroll down to "Hands Free Liftgate". Click twice on that item and you'll see a box that lets you Enable or Disable the feature. Click Disable then save it. You'll hear the familiar relay clicking from under the dash, your lights will flash and...you're done! Try the kick sensor. If the change has been successful it won't work (until you turn it on again) but the open/close buttons on the liftgate still function normally. Cheers!
  23. Mods & Accessories seems like a good place to post this. Updating: After a couple of updates proved to be buggy the issues have (apparently) been fixed. The new firmware works as expected (tested MX+ v5.5.3 on 5/10/20) Original post: If you're using an OBDLink code reader with FORScan or any other program/app that uses an OBDII reader there's probably an update waiting for you right now. The company has posted new firmware for their popular EX, MX and MX+ models over the past couple of weeks. Here's a link to the downloads page. Just choose your device to download: https://www.scantool.net/scantool/downloads/updates/ Note: To install just unzip the folder, connect your laptop to the OBDLink code reader (your Edge can be in accessory mode) then run StnFirmwareUpdater.exe . If you're connecting to a wireless device you might have to hunt down the com port being used. The updater defaults to Com 4 but my device (MX+) connected on Com 14. Cheers!
