2016 Ford Edge Sport AWD not active?
ben senise replied to RyanGlenn's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
my bad. for some reason i though it was a titanium 3.5 but that was another thread. doh! yeah, i had the same issue. ended up going with the ford package. not the most beautiful wheels but they work. good luck with finding the issue and please post what you find. -
Trans won’t downshift when gas pedal aggressively floored
ben senise replied to kkkkken's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
so the engine is revving but the car isn't accelerating? what are the RPM doing? The red line on that engine is somewhere over 6000 RPM. What's happening when you stomp on it, do the revs go way up? there's a rev limiter and when you hit that, it cuts out. then, when the revs go down you'll accelerate again and hit the limiter. does the transmission on the '13 have a sport mode? can you manually choose gears? -

so are you saying that it downshifts then upshifts then down, up, down, up? that's what i think of when you say "bucking" -
2016 Ford Edge Sport AWD not active?
ben senise replied to RyanGlenn's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
No. Some are just front wheel drive. Did you just assume that it was AWD or was it sold to you that way? Another thing is that tires make a huge difference. Summer tires have no traction in snow. zero. nothing. all seasons are barely better. for winter driving you need winter tires even if you don't see snow. cold temps reduce traction dramatically on non-winter tires. There are websites that let you get your original sticker if you put in your VIN. That will give you 100% positive information as to whether or not your car is AWD. -
[rant warning] ST options in Canada. WTF are you thinking, Ford?
ben senise replied to ben senise's topic in Edge ST
i can't imagine why upgraded brakes wouldn't work in the cold. After all, Ford sells the package in the North-East US where it gets much colder than out here on the West Coast. Once again, I completely understand the need for simple packages in the sales process. I don't have so much of a problem with that. It's just that sometimes they don't make sense like needing a sunroof to get black wheels. The wheels show as having a price. The 401A has a price. You can get 401A without getting the wheels but you can't get wheels without getting 401A. What this shows is that it's a strictly political decision rather than a limitation of production or ordering logistics. -
[rant warning] ST options in Canada. WTF are you thinking, Ford?
ben senise replied to ben senise's topic in Edge ST
great to see so many canadians on this board, and in BC to boot! are you saying the heated steering wheel was only available on the 2016 sport as part of the 401A package? it was the only option i got on my 2016 Ti. "Cold Weather Package" $250. these package deals are terrible. the combinations are ridiculous. i hear ya'. peanuts. thanks for the tip about Green's. Might check it out one day if i need it. it's not so much that i think the 20" wheels are ugly, i just like the other ones better. And frankly, it's the principle that ticks me off. Also, i use the hands-free lift gate and garage door opener all the time. I don't want to do without them. I can do without all the other stuff even if i wouldn't mind a few of the options. All in all, i'd have to get three options to get what i want; cold weather, cargo, and convenience, so only $1900 more but still. I don't like being forced into things that i don't want. oh well, rant over. i got it out of my system. 2019 isn't going to be the year of the ST for me. let's see what happens in 2020! -
[rant warning] ST options in Canada. WTF are you thinking, Ford?
ben senise replied to ben senise's topic in Edge ST
it doesn't matter what the ST is based on. It matters that Ford has decided that this was a good idea. I understand not being able to cherry pick but i think they have taken it too far. wheels? those don't even have to be built into the car like a sunroof or adaptive cruise control. i don't have an aversion to turbocharged engines. i have an aversion to four-cylinder engines in a car the size and weight of an edge. i drove the 2016 2 liter before buying my 3.5 and i just don't like the way they feel. i guess i didn't get that memo. yes, the brakes package are another pisser. i'm tired of being the poor cousin because i'm canadian in canada. i saw that my ford dealer has a couple of 2019 edges. i'm going to go take a look at them and ask about trading in my 2016. when the sales person tells me about these restrictions, i'll tell them that there's no sale. if they get enough people doing that then maybe ford canada will change their tune. -
The 2019 ST is finally on the ford.ca website. The option packages are so friggin' ridiculous that it blows my mind. for example, If you want to get the gloss black 21" wheels, which are shown as costing $950, they oblige you to add the 401A package at $5800!!! I don't want navigation and i really don't want a sunroof nor most of the other stuff in that package nor do i want to add yet another 10%+ to the price of the car And get this, the "Convenience Package" for $1000 on the ST is standard on the Titanium! So you need to pony up another grand to get some of the features I have on my 2016 Ti, namely the Perimeter Alarm, Hands-Free Foot-Activated Liftgate, and Universal Garage Door Opener. and the only way to get the auto-dimming driver's side view mirror is to add the $5800 401A package as well. i also will not buy a 4 cyl 2 liter turbo in that car which is the only option on anything other than the ST. there are a few more winners here but as things stand today, it is crystal clear that my second edge, my 2016 Ti 3.5 AWD will be my last. that's really too bad because I was looking forward to this ST. This myopic money grabbing attitude of Ford has really put a sour taste in my mouth. Ford can stuff it as far as i'm concerned. [end rant]

2016 Edge SE w/o built-in SAT - help?
ben senise replied to Mayhem's topic in Accessories & Modifications
what are the DIN connectors like on the head unit? if they're analog, it shouldn't be too difficult to put together a cable to make it work. thanks for the explanation about the USB port. i didn't know that. -
2016 Edge SE w/o built-in SAT - help?
ben senise replied to Mayhem's topic in Accessories & Modifications
as i was intrigued by your situation, i had a look for a solution. strangely, the user manual for my 2016 mentions an input jack but doesn't mention where it is. i have sync3 so i can't look for it. however, i'm wondering if a jack to usb cable would work for you. plug the audio jack into your sirius device output and the usb into your car. otherwise, if i were in your shoes, i would consider putting another head unit in the car. -
i read this post because i used to have an '09 with the clad wheels and they used to make a creaking sound. i'm just thinking out loud here but since you (the OP) say that it is recently purchased, i would probably go around the car and loosen the lug nuts and then tighten with a torque wrench to make sure they are all properly done. i really doubt that this is where the sound is coming from but just to be on the safe side.
-
i have a 2016 and my car does not have those rings that protrude. the sensors are flush to the bumper. in the OP, the holes don't look round especially in the second pic. they look like they have been drilled and/or reworked by hand and badly at that. something is strange about the installation. is that your original bumper or did the body shop get one (used perhaps?) and drill out the holes themselves? maybe they just glued the sensors in from the back and the glue failed.
-
congrats! you may just be the first on the this forum to post pics of the new ST. so, did you get it in blue, blue, or blue? (i heard they only come in blue.)
-
Thanks @Xtra. that gives me a better idea of what they look like. they look good and i think i'm going to get a pair of these.
-
while we're at it, there's no apostrophe needed if you want plural "nazis." sorry, i couldn't resist.
-
@Xtra, if you have a chance, would you mind taking a pic or two of the extensions from the side so they aren't obscured by the steering wheel? i'd like to see how they sit on the original paddles. a photo facing the back of the paddles would be fantastic as well. i'm really considering getting a pair of these since i saw your post. i'd just like to see a bit more of how they fit. thanks.

Power liftgate drops when it is about to close, is it normal?
ben senise replied to redden18's topic in Exterior & Body
i can't figure out how to embed a video in a post. pics are no problem but the video doesn't seem to work. i tried posting a link and that doesn't work either. oh well. this is it in case anyone else knows how to embed a video: http://tinypic.com/r/71sq3q/9 -

ben senise replied to redden18's topic in Exterior & Body
i'm trying to get a video in here but can't see how. -
"overly stiff" is very subjective. i find my '16 Ti a touch on the mushy side. it's okay but hardly sporty on winding roads (or when swerving to avoid a deer.) i might prefer an overly stiff suspension. i must admit that i am puzzled as to how you came to this conclusion since it would be safe to assume that you haven't yet ridden in one yet.
-
the camera mount could also be lousy (loose?) which causes the vibration in the picture.

why don't you take a quick video with your phone and post it here so we can see what you mean? i can do the same tomorrow if you like so you can compare.. -

my '16 Ti does the same. i too considered it normal. -
Aftermarket wheels and tires for winter
ben senise replied to Etienne Bégin's topic in Wheels & Tires
i was thinking of getting steel wheels but couldn't find any that worked. i ended up getting the ford 18" winter tires & wheels package just like some of the other posters here. i'm not crazy about the look but they work. -
now all they need to do is offer the 2.7 ecoboost on it (titanium elite.)
