being only available with the 2.0 unless you buy the ST means that I won't be buying an Edge again. too bad because i really like the edge. this is just stupid.

Cargo Floor Hook Holder Modification
ben senise replied to evh's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
i used to have a 2009 as well and it bugged me that it didn't have this. but i guess never enough to do what you did. then i got a 2016 and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has this feature from the factory. I had a 2002 BMW X5 and it had that as well. -
the "rear direction indicator," as ford calls it, is LED at the rear on 2015+ and is not user serviceable. Check your owner's manual under "maintenance." the front is a bulb. Is your front bulb working? normally the instrument cluster indicator flashes quickly when a bulb has failed but the LEDs shouldn't fail. this soon. i'm wondering if the front bulb failed and it's causing the back lights to not work? interesting problem.

i consistently get 10.6 liters per 100 km (22.2 miles per US gallon) in mixed city/highway/mountain roads. i have gone as low as 9.5 (24.8 mpg) on highway only. 2016 Ti 3.5 AWD using 89 octane fuel. 87 Octane needs about 11.6 liters/100km. 91 octane didn't see an improvement over the 89 octane.

NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??
ben senise replied to tk2fast's topic in Transaxle (FWD)
on my '16 Ti 3.5 AWD, if the cruise control is set and i go downhill, the car downshifts on its own to attempt to slow down and keep that speed. it usually goes over though but i guess you could compensate by lowering the cruise speed more. one of the features i like most about my edge is the paddle shifters. i would never go back to a car without them. and now that you can only get a V6, albeit it an ecoboost one, in the sport model, i'm not so sure i'm going to buy another edge. i don't care for the ecoboost 4 cyl. i don't really want to pay all that extra for the "sport" model just to get a V6. -

2016 3.5 Slams into 2nd gear under light acceleration
ben senise replied to ben senise's topic in 3.5L
is checking the PTU something i can do myself or is it dealer/mechanic only? is the PCM calibration something that changes over time and thus something i can reset? good idea. thanks. -
i'm going to mention this to the dealer next time i go in for service but i thought i'd mention it here in the mean time. i have a 2016 Ti 3.5 AWD approaching 28000 km. I have noticed that if i pull away slowly from a stop, keeping a steady, but light, foot on the gas pedal, the shift into second is extremely violent. so much so that it feels and sounds as it's going to break the u-joints. the car bucks. the shift is occurring early on, say 2k rpm. if i accelerate a bit harder, then the shift is normal. it feels like the ECU is cutting the gas before the shift and the engine is braking the car when the transmission is shifting gears, hence the bucking and slamming. it's difficult to describe in text. i hope i'm being somewhat clear. does this happen to anyone else here? i'm thinking that i'm going to get that extended warranty before the factory one is finished!

the thing that constantly drives me nuts about my 2016 Ti is the squeaking, rattling, buzzing in the interior and the extreme road noise.

Bumper and door sill protection

interesting. you're probably right. i notice in the video that the edge has fog lights down below and the LEDs around headlights like the european edges. -
Bumper and door sill protection
ben senise replied to PackPariah's topic in Accessories & Modifications
i have the OEM one from ford on my 2016 and it is not good. it is extremely thin (a vinyl sticker) and doesn't cover the top edge of the bumper. I would not recommend it. I had one on my 2009 edge and it was much thicker, made of rubber, and covered the edge of the bumper. [edit to add] i just looked at the one in the link that onyxbfly posted. that looks much better. as far as the stuff in the OP's link goes, i think they must have used an edge from a different market than n. america. they show a spare tire protector that goes under the car. dunno 'bout the others here but my spare is inside the car. same goes for a few other pieces that just don't look anything like my 2016. -
Instrument Panel Storage Box
ben senise replied to 4havnfun's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
i just had a look at mine and although I can't easily get it out, my guess is that it pops into those same four slots that the panel you took out pops into. this is such an over engineered piece though. there are so many components and the inside of the drawer is flocked it has a track and gear for the opening/closing and the handle has a latch. way too complex for a thing that i've never used. finally, this drawer is quite small inside and i've never put anything in there because of that. i would have a look at one in a used edge before i shelled out 130 bucks on it. -
i use it exclusively. check the left column to make sure you have the "By Content Type" and "By Time Period" set correctly. I use "Forums" and "New Since My Last Visit" respectively.

this is what i use and it's great. the triangular shape lets you get in anywhere. it comes with three bonnets; a bug scraping one, a dusting one, and a microfiber for glass. i have extra sets. it's also bowed so the pressure gets distributed well. invisible glass reach and clean tool: http://www.stonercarcare.com/Products/glasscare/tool

I would ask what the breakdown of the cost is. Mounting and unmounting a tire plus the part is all i can think of. should be way under a hundred bucks parts and labor plus tax. perhaps he wants to replace all four for some reason?
-
yes, it would appear that way.

i just checked the ford switzerland website and the manual for the edge says 220Nm. I think what people are trying to say is that an error could have occured. Sure the engineer spec'ed X but the tech writer wrote Z, got the lb-ft and Nm mixed up. Just like the young monk at the monastery where they make copies of the bible (before the advent of printing.) He asks the senior monk how he could be sure that an error hadn't been introduced somewhere along the way since they were making copies of the copies that had been made from copies. The senior monk replied that he shouldn't worry but he would go down to the archives to check. After the senior monk didn't return for a long time, the young monk went down to see if he was alright. He found the senior monk sobbing. "What's wrong?" said the young monk. The senior monk replied, crying, "The word was celebrate!"

2017 edge cargo removal
ben senise replied to 2017 SLE FORD EDGE's topic in Forum Help & Site Suggestions
thanks but i'm north of the 49th so i'd have to pay import fees. i dropped by the dealer today and checked out a new edge with the cover. i liked it and ordered from the parts department. this forum makes me spend money! thanks all. -
i'm reading between the lines here and am thinking that what you want to do is leave the hatch open when you park the car and you don't want your battery to be drained. is that it? if so, i think that all the lights turn off after 10 minutes or so (15?). Perhaps others here can confirm. Or you can leave it open and go back in 20 minutes to check.

Cars come and cars go. Good luck with the new one!
