First, I know there have been many posts in this forum regarding power liftgate malfunctions. But I have narrowed my issue down to a specific scenario.
My vehicle is a 2017 Edge Titanium.
The power liftgate will operate normally when the car is cool. It will operate repeatedly early in the morning. And it will operate later in the evening when the sun has gone down and the vehicle has cooled off. But during the day when the vehicle is warm from the sun, the power liftgate will not operate. For instance, today the liftgate operated when I got up. Now it is 5pm in the afternoon and the vehicle is warm from sitting in the 70 degree sun all day. And the liftgate will not operate. But it will this evening after it cools off.
Do any techs here know where to look for the problem?
I have installed a new battery, making sure the connections at the battery and the ground at the fenderwell were wirebrushed clean. I was hoping that was the issue. But it was not.
Thank you.
New part installed.
The new part is a little stronger in the area that the old one broke.
The repair to the old part held up well - very solid.
New part is Made in Canada.
I have the VDM and one height sensor on order. I got a the height sensor because I want to confirm how it communicates the back to the VDM. I thought it was a simple voltage divider, but after looking at the service manual again, I think it might be a Hall sensor. I'll know for sure soon.
Hello! Resurrecting this thread...
Jist got a 2013 edge limited and having similar issues. Passenger side front window randomly doesn't work uaing master switch. When it doesn't work, the Passenger switch only works going downward.
Seems if i mess with the door jam boot for the wiring on the driver door, it will get going again.
Do you guys think this is a similar ' blue wire ' issue in the harness?
I found the complete OEM harness online for 120 bucks, think I might just replace it.
I'm surprised to hear that a 2019 model still uses and EGR valve.

2019 85,600 miles been stuttering for a while at low-medium acceleration.
thought it was transmission, today dealer replaced EGR valve. it was carboned up and sticking.
only 30 miles so far and it's OK.
Which engine cover did you pick up? Is it a Ford one with the right configuration for where the oil fill and dipstick are?
I planned on the Lincoln one since I couldn't find the Ford one in stock anywhere, and don't feel like hacking up the foam since 2019+ is different than earlier ones.
