  1. I wonder why you had so many problems with the update. Did mine thursday on my MKX, took 40 minutes. Yes, before I started, I read the instructions carefully, and I did delete (unpaired) our phones before starting. Wish you luck with dads MKX tomorrow.
  2. Richy I opened the front passengeer window 1/2 way, and got good results. I stopped by the dealership today, spoke to the technician that nhas worked on my problem, and he agree's, that it's a vaccuum/pressure problem. He called Ford this past Thursday, and they told him they would get back next week, he said "lets see what they have to say". The tech, Vinny, said that this should have been resolved long ago, and if they can't give him an answer, he's going to have the service mgr at the dealership, call the "higher ups". Joe
  3. I have not had any problems with the phone, even before the update (which I did this past Thursday). Probably is a mic problem.
  4. Looks super sweet. The color is unreal, might be the "new black". My previous ride was a '06 Explorer, color was called dark stone. At times it looked dark charcoal grey, almost black, and at times it had a tinge of dark tan/brown look to it. What type of sealant.polish did you use? Have the 20" chrome wheels on my MKX, I put a good coat of wax on them too. Might want to give it a shot. Enjoy your ride. Joe
  5. My wife always say's that I have a nice seat ! ( Sorry, couldn't resist that one). Yes the seats are very comfortable and supportive.
  6. Rob, Is this TSB for the liftgate problem ? Thanks, Joe
  7. Looks a heck of a lot better. Share info with others, do you have the plastic chrome plated wheels, and what sandpaper did you use? I'm sure others in the Forum would appreciate your tips.
  8. Hi Rob, I've had issues with the tailgate not closing on the first try with my '12 MKX since new. Had it to the dealer, they made numerous adjustments per Ford's instructions, and still no luck. Took it back about a month and a half ago, Ford told them that the program for the liftgate has to be rewritten, and should be out shortly. Stopped by yesterday, they still didn't get a answer, so they were going to call back to find out what the holdup is on the pgm update. Well, forum user jmichel just entere a post on this, and said tht he discovered that if he left a door or window open, the rear gate would close on first try. Sure enough, I tested at least a dozen times - open the gate, hit the button to close it, and almost every time, it would not close on the first try, BUT, open the rear door, hit the button to close the gate, and like magic, closes on the first shot ! Do you think that it could be a pressure issue?, that's what jmichel thinks is the cause. Joe
  9. Wheels alone, do not come cheap, so that quote might not be that bad. Did you consider putting this through your insurance? If you want to try and save a few bucks, you might try checking online (ie Ebay, Craigslist, etc) for a used rim ( wheel ). Joe
  10. Thanks, jmichel, will have to give it a try, as a matter of fact, I'll do it right now ------------------------hang on folks, I'm back - first try, with windows and door shut, the gate closed on 1st shot, but then every time after, it failed, even after 3 or 4 attempts. Opened the back passenger door, closed the gate, and it and latched on 1st shot. Did open & close with the back door opened, and it closed EVERY time on the 1st try. Closed the door, opened the gate, went to close it, and it did not close after 3 attempts. Once again, I opened the back passenger door, hit the close button, and 1st try was a success. Thanks, jmichel, I'm going to report this to my service dept, they can contact Ford with this info, see what the jerks there have to say ! Maybe they should give you a free extended warranty for finding the root cause of the problem. :happy feet: Now all they have to do is find what to do to solve the problem - possibly an adjustment on tension? Joe
  11. Yeah, Dingo, how are you feeling and getting along? Hope each day is better for you. Joe
  12. I checked out the Caddy SRX, can't compare to my MKX. Got the upgrade in the mail yesterday, took 40 minutes to install, everything is quicker and a lot smoother. Should get your kits any day now.
  13. Ditto here, too. Have my MKX 3 1/2 months, and now the new ones are coming out? Should have waited ! - But still love it, and the new upgrade that I got in the mail yesterday, is so far, flawless.
  14. Just curious about your thoughts on the mini cooper. A cousin of mine looked at them, I am trying to convince her to go into a new Focus instead. First of all, I think the Mini C is too small for her (has 3 children - ages 14, 17 & 19), and overpriced, and what maintenance costs would be on it. She is recently divorced, and has to watch the bucks.
  15. Ditto.................I remember one thing that my dad told me - "you get what you pay for" .
  16. It was me, with the post. Came in today's mail, took 40 minutes to install, everything is GREAT, including my IPOD. Joe
  17. :happy feet: I was quite surprised today, when I received my update in the mail. It took exactly 40 minutes for the installation, and all is functioning smoooooooooooothly. Quick response times, phones (LG & IPHONE) paired quickly and work flawlessly, screens ARE more user friendly, I'm happier than a pig in shit !
  18. Stopped by the dealership today, Ford never got back to them, re - the pgm update. One of the techs called them, Ford promised to get back with an answer. WTF, my dealer is trying, it's the woman that is supposed to be in charge of the program rewrite that the problem.
  19. Got it ion the mail today, updated today, so far, all is well. My LG & wife's Iphone (4S) paired with no problem, working just fine. My IPOD indexes & builds commands in about 45 seconds, before, it would sometimes index forever.
  20. :happy feet: Got my update (My Lincoln Touch) in the mail today. Very simple to do, took exactly 40 minutes to do. Nav is more accurate, the old version had me off 30-40 feet, now it's right on target. Before, it would take forever for my IPOD to index and build commands, I timed it today, and indexing & voice commands took about 45 seconds, so a BIG improvement. My wife missed the outside temp not being displayed in the center screen, but no big deal to me - years ago, things like this were never heard of. My LG phone and my wife's Iphone paired with no problem at all, nice and clear at both ends. I will update in a few days, let you know how things are working. Joe
  21. Looks sweet - enjoy ! Welcome to the Forum, a nice place to be.
