Had my MKX in about a week ago, they did a pgm update for the amt of force used to close the gate. Happy to report all is now fine. :happy feet:

I think the 2011's had the hook on type, and they change to snap on's in 2012. This is where people have to be careful when buying new mats.

Don't know about the Edge, but with my '12 MKX, the hold down gromet went from what was lije na hook on the floor, to a round plug that snaps onto the mat, vs "hooking on".

Does your gate not close if the ignition is cycled on?, That is what the TSB you posted indicates. Mine would not close (most of the time) when the car was off. A simple program update solveds the problem for me, no latch replacement at all. I hope they get the problem resolved for you. Joe

Just a suggestion, but why don't you try a different dealership, might get better results.

Maybe send a PM (private message ) or post to FordGuru. who is a Ford mechanic. If anyone would have an inclination as to what the most possible problem would be, I would think that he would. IMO, sounds like a heat shield or pinging.

You said that the dealer gave you a price of $40250, what is the actual list price? I would think that you should be able to get the price down at least 6-7 % from sticker. Go onto website FORD.COM, and it will tell you what rebates, if any are available. The 2013's should already have the update and SD card installed. LOL with your purchase. Joe

My apologies to Bryan003, KC300C, and anyone else that might have taken offense regarding my post to safety issues concerning tinting of brake & 3rd brake light lenses. I was just thinking of safety reasons for not tinting, sorry for opening up my mouth, when I should have kept it shut. I was at the dealer today for program update for the power tailgate not closing at first time, and I did ask one of the service writers how do you take off the 3rd brakem light lens, and he said leave it to a professional, it's a real pain in the a$$. I guess the best is to mask and tape. I would buy a couple of 9 x 12 sheets of thin plastic drop cloths ( Home Depot, Lowes etc ) and tape to the roof and rear window and tailgate to prevent any type of overspray, especially if done outdoors and the wind can catch the spray. :happy feet: Just got back from the dealer for the liftgate problem not always closing. They got a update from Ford regarding this, and it was a simple program update to adjust the amount of force to close the gate. I checked it twice before leaving the dealer, and all was okay. Got home, opened and closed about 10 more times, and it closed on the first try every time. I was in and out in less than a half hour.

Mine is going into the dealer tomorrow, Will update after pgm update for rear gate is done.

Taking my MKX to the dealeer toomorrow. They called last week, have a program ( ? ) update to perform. Will see if it works. If I open a door or window before closing the power liftgate,m it ALWAYS closes on the first try. Gotta be pressure related.

...................and maybe get an Edge / MKX group going in NJ ?
