  1. It's not necessarily the same problem, but the fact that they've had repeated problems for so long is a bad sign.
  2. Should be 5W-20 for the 3.7L, 5W-30 for the 2.7LEB. You probably have the 3.7L and looked at the wrong entry in the owner's manual.
  3. Or get an iPhone and join us on the Dark Side.....
  4. I thought about tapping a circuit near the trunk for the same reason - small utility trailer. I could upgrade to LEDs if needed.
  5. They may want you to take it to another dealer first but if they can't stop the leak then I think they'll buy it back since the repair had been attempted earlier.
  6. I need to run a separate power lead from the bumper to the battery for a towing harness - any tips on how to route the wire? Inside? Outside?
  7. Just for fun one day - move one of the wiper arms manually so it's out of position.
  8. Add your own undermount hitch - they work fine and don't look bad. $180 for the hitch and $80 for the wiring.
  9. I like Audis the best out of the German brands (not counting Porsche). We sat in the Q3, Q5 and Q7 at the auto show and didn't really like the interior as much as the MKX. Then again we're long time Ford fans so not surprising.
  10. Ok - just wanted to make sure you had seen the new one. To each his own.
  11. Maybe you're thinking about the previous gen. This is what the new ones look like:
  12. Why aren't you comparing the MKX to the Audi? Much closer in price and features.
  13. An app would be the best solution - but how would it know that you're in range of a bluetooth connection without bluetooth being on? Or does it just turn it on long enough to check for a connection then turns it back off?
  14. It's simply a question of whether SCT will support it or not. If they put the tunes in without testing them and something happens they're liable. No different than buying a piece of software that the vendor has certified on Intel processors but not AMD. It should run just fine but if they haven't tested it they're not going to certifiy it because there is a very small chance that something is different. Maybe SCT will let you be the guinea pig.
  15. It does happen but it's certainly not widespread. And when you drive any vehicle without a warranty you have to be prepared to pay for a repair including engine and tranny replacement. It can happen to any vehicle at any time - stuff breaks even if it's engineered properly. I haven't kept up with other failures so I don't know for sure if the engine is toast since you stopped right away when it overheated, but I would certainly get another opinion on that and worst case get a used engine as IWRBB noted above. It always sucks when something fails out of warranty but that's reality. The only way to avoid it is to buy longer warranties or trade for a newer vehicle with a warranty.
  16. There is no way to know for sure if the same tune works on the MKX unless they do actual testing. There can always be differences in the PCM calibration. I'd say there is a 99.5% chance the Edge tunes would work just fine, but they're not going to give you tunes for a MKX unless they've actually tested them on a MKX.
  17. Because they don't have enough current or projected demand to do the testing.
  18. What do you use the bluetooth for and what kind of phone do you have?
  19. Well that's certainly a unique use case. You could get a cheap travel router and leave it plugged in with an adapter/inverter.
  20. It's not available as far as I know. The built in modems only support sync connect which I think is why there is no data plan charge. Almost every cell phone nowadays can be a wifi hotspot so it's really not that useful of a feature and would simply be another monthly fee and something you'd have to upgrade - regardless of what GM tells you.
  21. Could be the slide pins. They need to be greased from time to time, especially when changing pads.
  22. Very strange. I find the difference to be night and day.
  23. The newer adjustable headrests (have them on the 2013 Fusion and 2016 MKX) are just fine. No issues at all. The ones in our 08 Edge were terrible and I did turn them around once on a long trip. I don't know if they changed the angle of the shaft inside the seat but the new combination is great.
