I drove the new MKX to dinner last night using Sport mode. I liked it but the wife complained that the engine sounded louder than before. Oh well - I can still use it when I'm by myself!

FWD based part time AWD is completely different than a full time 4WD system like the JGC - as Waldo described.

Seats giving me a back problem

An upholstery shop should be able to modify the seats for you. -
Dealer installed Tow hitch? Cost?
akirby replied to dfatz's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Just ordered a Hidden Hitch for $163. I installed the same kind on a 2014 Escape so it shouldn't be too bad. -
Paddles are more to keep it from shifting rather than shifting it yourself. E.g coming down a steep mountain where S gearing isn't low enough. Or holding a lower gear through the twisties.

ABS- traction light blinks when turn to left, car jerks.
akirby replied to 2007Edge's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I would suspect the connector to one of the front wheel speed sensors but that's just a guess. Try cleaning the connectors and reseating.- 5 replies

13N02 - Extended Warranty Coverage on Brake Booster
akirby replied to omar302's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Horse hockey. If Ford covers the part they also cover installing it. -
Are you sure it was a typo?

Bought. X plan was $47,750 after $1250 rebates.

Invoice is right at $3939 so if you want it you'll have to pay for it. I'm sure some would get it just for the LED headlamps. I think the $1100 lower end Revel is a bargain by comparison. You still get adaptive HIDs.

That was in the one we test drove. No CDs or mp3s though just Sirius and XM and a demo. Not sure it sounded that much better, although I think it has sound processing to make lower bitrate mp3s and such sound better. The problem is it's only available with the $4K luxury pkg.

Lincoln ride control is only available on the AWD models so mine doesn't have it. I had fun with the daughter (she's 21). I just told her to put it in Drive and sat back and watched the show. That's going to keep us entertained for awhile.....

Also - the 12 speaker Revel audio is simply amazing.

I just checked - there is no digital speedometer option any more. They must have removed it from the software.

No and I haven't tried it yet. I saw some threads on it over on the MKX forum about it.

It is - that's what convinced my better half to splurge on the MKX over the Edge. The seats are amazing.

mp3 albums track order
akirby replied to Asi Yacobovitch's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Based on a google search, I think the answer is it uses the ID3 Tag called "Track" to order the songs. If this tag is null or 0, then all bets are off, but it looks like SYNC then alphabetizes the songs according to the "Title" tag. And make sure Shuffle is off. -
Just picked up this beauty last Thursday night. Luxe/Capuccino 3.7L FWD. We could not find exactly what we wanted in stock anywhere Wednesday night at the local dealer. Changed our requirements slightly, found one in Ford's dealer inventory that was in route to our local dealer, called the salesman only to find out they had just unloaded it that morning. Drove it home that night. It has the Climate and Technology packages. We had to give up the Driver Assistance pkg but got the 21" wheels and the Revel Audio. The Revel stereo sounds amazing. The 360 degree camera and approach lighting are very cool. Most importantly - Mama is happy!

Unable to program new Key
akirby replied to Rustytools's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I can tell you this - you can program a new Ford Fusion/Edge IA key to another vehicle but then it won't work with the original vehicle. I tried doing this with my 2013 Fusion key on our new 2016 MKX. It worked great including remote start (but doesn't illuminate the approach lighting). But when I went to use it again on my Fusion it no worky. So now I have to go back to the dealer to get it reprogrammed. Apparently with the 2-way remote start it actually updates the remote when you program it to the vehicle. -
MyFord Touch - mp3 USB problem

You can enter an entire address using voice commands on sync 2/mft and sync 3.

Absolutely normal. As for bargaining you wouldn't order it until you've agreed on a price. Most will refund the deposit if you decide to get something else provided it's a vehicle they would normally stock. But that's up to the dealer. If you do it make sure there is a timeframe in the contract so that if it takes too long they have to refund the deposit. There are some dealers that will order without a deposit.

Dealer installed Tow hitch? Cost?

After a bit more research I think a hidden hitch may be the best option. -

Dealer installed Tow hitch? Cost?
akirby replied to dfatz's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I'm about to on a 2016 MKX. I don't think the factory hitch requires moving any sensors but it does require replacing the bumper piece where the hitch sticks out, or cutting the existing one. Dealer is probably hedging his bets if he's never done one before. I'll let you know what I find out.
