My new Edge is "pulling and veering" to the left...ANNOYING!!!
akirby replied to fredro's topic in Owner Impressions
CD4 was heavily based on EUCD (previous gen Mondeo) but I'm sure it was updated significantly. They may have added the AWD rear setup from CD3 as I'm not sure if EUCD had AWD capability. -

2008-2014 Edge and Fusion was on CD3 which was based on a Mazda platform. 2013+ Fusion and 2015+ Edge is on CD4 which came from the European Mondeo. Completely different platforms. -
Sorry I didn't see the reference to a cooler line - if that's actually leaking then it needs to be fixed.

Anyone Replace Their Sony Speakers?
akirby replied to bill valley's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Did not know they changed to 6.5s. Thanks. -
No but you might want to find a different service department.

Technically they're 5x7/6x8 just like every other Ford for the last 20+ years. But 5.25s and 6.5 components usually fit. Crutchfield will show you what fits or doesn't fit. -
But if you test another phone and it works then you know the problem is not with Sync and the problem is your phone. If it fails the same way with a different phone then the problem is probably with Sync. Try pulling the fuse for Sync if you can find it or disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes to reset everything.

Try a master reset and try rebooting your phone. Make sure your phone has bluetooth enabled. Try a different phone.

If you want more performance the tuner is really the only viable option. And you'll have to run 93 octane for max power from the tune.

You can try some aggressive compound but you can also burn through the clearcoat if you're not careful. If the scratches are past the clear coat it will be harder to fix. You can try filling each scratch with touch up but in my experience it won't look very good unless you take the time to fill it, sand it and polish it andwith that many scratches it will probably be faster, easier and better to just get the hood fixed and resprayed.

The 2015/2016 is not a refresh - it's a completely new vehicle on a new platform. You shouldn't be having those issues on any vehicle but these problems do appear to be related to the platform change.

Overheating would make sense.

Ford Edge owners. How do you like it?
akirby replied to caj767314922's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Just FYI - the tranny doesn't learn your driving style. Adaptive means it adapts to manufacturing differences and wear over time to maintain the proper shift performance. -
My daughter just reported it sounds like something is dragging on her 2012 Focus - pretty sure the pads are shot and it's probably scoring the rotor. Then I realized the car has 70K miles and I had not checked the brakes since the wheels were replaced about 20K miles ago. I did rotate the tires once but I can't remember checking the brake pads. Bad father........ Of course we're about to trade that car in on a 2016 MKX (or sell it) and give her the 2014 Escape.

Dryer Sheets and Polishing Wheels
akirby replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
I got confused and put bug and tar remover in my dryer. Is that a problem? -
Well that works the same whether you say they should go on the front or the rear. If you're only replacing two tires you're probably not rotating them in the first place. In the end it's not a huge difference either way.
-
The best tires always go on the rear, because it's easier to recover from understeer than oversteer. (side note - Smokey Yunick of NASCAR fame described understeer as when the front end hits the wall and oversteer as when the back end hits the wall). Some goodyear tires are ok but I prefer Michelin, Continental or BF Goodrich. Tirerack.com has owner surveys and comparisons to help you choose.

Ok, you vented your frustration and that's fine, but let's not keep repeating the same post over and over please. This is not a recall issue - that's reserved for things the government deems to be safety related and this doesn't qualify (I understand you disagree but you need to talk to the NHTSA about that). Your vehicle is 10 years old. Even if they had extended the warranty on these components you probably wouldn't be covered. You can probably find a used PCM and new coils at an independent shop for a lot less.

Tow package and hitch on 2015 Edge
akirby replied to Mark Johnson's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Call Levittown Ford in NY. They'll help you research the parts to see what is actually available. A lot of dealers just don't want to mess with something like that. You should at least be able to buy the bumper cover and have it painted to match and install it yourself. OTOH I've seen hidden hitches that don't look bad. -
As long as the light isn't flashing it's safe to drive.

Wow. Severe case of déjà vu.
