    2015 Edge MPG

You obviously don't understand how EPA ratings are calculated. The EPA rules are very strict so that the test can be repeated over and over with consistent results. The automakers don't make up the numbers - they run the test and report the results. If you drive EXACTLY like the EPA test specifies (including things like not using A/C and not using E-10 fuel, same temps, etc.) you'll get the window sticker mpg. But nobody drives like that. Actual results can vary widely between drivers and conditions even on the same vehicle.
  2. Wow. I don't remember ever turning off the radio in any of my vehicles. Has to be a faulty head unit.
  3. A plant worker said there is a human inspection every hour that should have caught the problem immediately.
  4. Yes, you have to touch the inside of the door handle.
  5. Does it stop when you take out the key? Do you get a Door Ajar warning?
  6. My guess is after they build up sufficient parts they'll widen the recall. If FordService can't help then get it fixed and keep your receipts and there's a chance you'll get reimbursed later. It totally sucks and I wish they wouldn't do it this way, but that's business sometimes.
  7. Lots of good info here especially post 13. This is also the repair procedure previously mentioned. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure/?hl=fans
  8. When it goes to hot, stop the vehicle, wait a minute or so and crank it again. If it goes back to normal immediately then it could be a sensor or it could also be a steam pocket in the coolant (air). When the steam pocket hits the sensor the temperature spikes temporarily. Might need to fill the coolant and bleed the air out. But from what I understand both fans should always be running with the engine at temp and the A/C on, so it does sound like a bad fan or fan controller.
  9. It's possible the dealer fix doesn't work, but if so that's not something that would only show up after the warranty. It would show up now. If the carpet is dry all around then I would say it's been fixed permanently.
  10. That's the normal procedure, assuming it's actually overheating when that happens. Is the temp gauge showing hot when that happens or is it going up and down erratically? If it's just going to hot then I'd say the fans need to be replaced. If it's doing strange things then maybe it's something else and the fan not turning on is a symptom of something else like a bad temp sensor. The controller is part of the new assembly. I used the Dorman part from Amazon for $120 or so - not sure if it's still available. There is a replacement procedure in one of the forums here - let me know if you can't find it.
  11. Yep. Completely bogus. It's designed to charge phones when plugged in.
  12. And we all know in the end that's all that really matters anyway........
  13. I was speaking generally, not necessarily your specific case. I think in most cases the salespeople are simply too lazy to check or keep track of vehicle status after it's ordered. I've seen it time and time and time again where the dealer tells the customer they don't have any status on an order, then an employee on a forum looks it up and gives them all the details. That same info is available to the dealer but for whatever reason they don't relay that to the customer. We also have dealership employees who confirm that the dealer has all the info available and they get a detailed report on it every week. I don't think Ford's system necessarily tracks each vehicle that's being held with enough detail to give you an accurate answer. It's probably done manually at the plant. I know when they held the Fusions and MKZs back in 2012/2013 there was no way to get status on an individual vehicle.
  14. Yes - that's a fleet only option. Just means it was sold to a business rather than an individual - most likely either a rental car or government fleet vehicle.
  15. I've had rain sensing wipers on my last 3 vehicles over 15 years and love them. I get an occasional dry swipe (maybe 2-3 times a year) and every once in a while I have to kick them off manually but I don't want a car without that feature now.
  16. After you shut off the engine, the radio, windows, etc. still operate for 10 minutes or until you open a door.
  17. But the European Mondeo with the adaptive LEDs is priced like the MKZ here, not the Fusion.
  18. How do you know there hasn't been any clear, honest communication from Ford to the dealer? Ford tells the dealer the status of every vehicle they have on order at least once per week, yet most dealers tell their customers they don't know anything when they ask about order status. There are cases where Ford is waiting for parts or waiting for engineering and they truly don't know when something will be fixed. In those cases the dealer should simply put in another order. The Ford rep can usually get those put in at priority 9 meaning they'll be built before any other vehicles for that dealer.
  19. You said people were getting Focii returned under lemon law because they didn't like the way it shifts. That's simply untrue. On the seats you also said you would "use it as strike 1" to get Ford to fix it, but since uncomfortable seats are NOT a defect in the first place there is no "strike 1" to begin with. Nobody is saying that you should ignore the situation or that you shouldn't try to get Ford or the dealer to help. The part we object to is calling this a "defect" and claiming that Ford is required to do anything about it.
  20. To be safe, make sure the engine is up to temp before turning on the A/C.
  21. Crank vehicle. Turn on A/C. Count the number of cooling fans running. 2 = good. 1 or 0 - replace cooling fans and controller.
  22. Edges don't use headlight fluid, silly. That's only for the blinkers......
