  1. If there is a hold, the dealers know about it. Whether they admit it or not is a different story.
  2. My guess would be intermittent cooling fan failure. With the A/C on both cooling fans should be running.
  3. We do have Adaptive LED headlamps on U.S. models - they're just all Lincolns. MKX, MKC, MKZ.
  4. Not common but there are dealerships like that who try to milk you for stuff like that. Run away and find a better dealer that isn't trying to rip you off. Or just say no up front.
  5. Lemon Law is for defective cars that can't be fixed. A seat that is uncomfortable to some but perfectly comfortable to others is not a defect. Nobody is getting lemon law because they don't like the way their Focus shifts. There are defective Focus transmissions that have been hard to fix but that's not the same as "I don't like the way it shifts". Ford and/or the dealer may choose to help customers who complain by modifying the seats, but it's not a defect and lemon law is most definitely not applicable. There were even more complaints about the headrests on the 2008-2010 models. They were designed to meet safety standards and were downright uncomfortable for a lot of folks including me because they pushed your head forward too much. Ford didn't fix those, either because they weren't defective. Comfort is subjective.
  6. I used to leave the sunshade open on our 08 Edge with the Vista Roof and it never turned anything into a "bake" oven.
  7. You can't just buy a car and take it back because you don't like it. Once a car has been sold and titled, it cannot be sold as a new vehicle again. What you should do is get an extended test drive - at least 30 minutes. Some will let you keep it overnight. BEFORE you buy it.
  8. It's called delayed accessory power and it stays on for 10 minutes or until you open the door.
  9. Does the seat go up and down independent of the back? If so you could try raising the seat. Could also get an upholsterer to modify the seat once you know what needs to change.
  10. That seems to be what he's expecting and it's completely unreasonable if the vehicle is repairable. BTW Wingnut - your new car "warranty" is nothing more than an insurance policy. They work exactly the same way. You pay a certain amount for a certain level of coverage for a specific time with specific remedies. If you want more coverage you have to pay more whether it's a separate charge or it's included in the price of the vehicle. That's one reason Lincolns cost more than Fords - the warranty is longer.
  11. Seat comfort are such an individual thing. For those that find them uncomfortable - what was your previous vehicle?
  12. BTW - I think Ford should buy back vehicles that had excessive leaks. But the fact remains they aren't under any legal obligation to do so outside of lemon laws. I'm just glad they're doing it without forcing people to resort to lemon laws or other legal proceedings. They still screwed up here - big time. And these problems are becoming a trend and that's not good.
  13. It seems to vary from vehicle to vehicle and year to year as to whether certain power points are always on or not.
  14. Warranties only provide repair of damaged vehicles, not replacement. Mfrs rarely replace entire vehicles outside of lemon law proceedings because it's not necessary in most cases and it's really expensive. You can stand behind your product by repairing defects. And it is orders of magnitude more easy to replace a $300 chair than a $40K vehicle. Your expectations for warranty service are simply not realistic unless you're willing to pay a big premium for that type of service. The next time you have a fender bender tell the insurance company you want a new replacement vehicle and see how far that goes. I'm not applauding Ford here at all - this type of factory defect should never happen to this degree. But I give them credit for stepping up with proactive vehicle replacements where it's warranted because they did not have to do that - they could have simply repaired the vehicles and called it a day.
  15. Name another car company who had such a problem and agreed to voluntarily replace customer vehicles with a free $2500 upgrade without a government recall forcing it? I think it's pretty rare. Not saying Ford is without fault here - far from it. But give credit where it's due.
  16. They are replacing some vehicles - not sure if mold fits the criteria for replacement but it sounds reasonable to me. They could just be waiting for new carpet if they believe that's all that was damaged. The dealer should be able to tell you exactly what Ford is doing and why.
  17. You do realize that Ford could simply fix your vehicle and give it back to you - they're not under any obligation to buy it back, much less give you $2500 in free upgrades. They could just keep fixing it, or at some point telling you that whatever is wrong is normal. The dealer should have given you a free loaner for the last month - if they didn't, shame on them. With some people getting great response from Ford, I suspect that your dealer was at least partly to blame. Ford always has room for improvement in the communication with customers department, but again some of that falls back on the dealer since they are the ones dealing directly with the consumer. It would be nice if Ford simply refunded one month's payment in lieu of the $2500 upgrade.
  18. It won't have the kinds of problems that MFT did. Different developers and Ford learned its lesson with MFT - they won't release it with major problems which is why it's delayed in the MKX and other vehicles.
  19. Could be the combination of the motor twisting and the speed of the axle combined. Hard to say. It is a strange symptom.
  20. If the motor mount (or transmission mount) is broken it allows the engine to twist affecting the axles.
  21. They're thinking they don't want to release something that doesn't work, like they did with the original launch of MFT.
  22. There is no mileage limit. Check post #4 for the details of which vehicles are covered.
