  1. 4th gear probably has its own clutch pack. 1st is typically a planetary gearset but the rest are clutch packs with friction plates sandwiched between. I would expect a trouble code though for an RPM flare that high in a 3-4 shift. It would normally go into limp more and display a check engine light. You definitely should have the dealer look into that because any slip is wear and accelerated failure.
  2. My 2011 with projected halogens was awful as well. The 2019 models with LEDs are a HUUUGE upgrade in lighting.
  3. 12/9/18 is my build date.
  4. Wow .. that seems like slippage. It definitely should not be doing that.
  5. The car I test drove absolutely had it. It was unmistakably louder when in sport mode vs normal. My car has no audible difference at any speed/RPM.
  6. I noticed that too.. Everything else is bright white while the vanity mirror lights are amber. Definitely need to look into changing those. The headlights are 1000000000X better than my 2011 Sport Halogen projectors. I absolutely love how well they illuminate the road. Street signs also glow from the beam edge broken light spectrum. Weird blue purple incandescent glow that i love.
  7. Yes I am well aware of all of that. But with kinks and bugs in the systems its another point of failure with no temporary fix. I have had the system konk out in my 2011 leaving the left and right displays black but the speedometer continued to work. I'm personally just not ready to go 100% digital display.
  8. Probably will see a bit of doubt and hate initially. I am trying to convince my father to look at one (Non ST due to price) but i also don't think he will like the floating display. I hope it turns out to be a beast and I'm very happy to see its on a RWD platform again finally. I'm worried about the claim to be fastest under 60K though as with just 400hp at that weight it might be a claim with a ton of small print.
  9. I do not like the floating display or the all digital cluster. The software changes are cool but I want a physical speedo at least. Im interested in the claim about it being the fastst SUV under 60K. If its around the same acceleration as the police interceptor version it will be a tough claim.
  10. I honestly like the recessed screens used in the edge so far. It blocks side glare and gives you a place to rest your hand while navigating the infotainment system. The whole floating screen thing just makes me think of the old pioneer aftermarket systems with the pop out screen that blocks the A/C vents. I like everything to look fully integrated with a smooth flow across the dash. I honestly love my 2019 interior. Reviews say its dated but I guess my style is also.
  11. That sucks a lot. Is it equally as bad in sport mode? I notice turbo spool in normal mode. It creates a surge in power over 2000rpm that can make it feel lurchy but I actually like it. It’s still shifts far better than my 2011 sport. In sport mode it is awesome since it holds gear to maintain 2000rpm min at all times.
  12. That is interesting. Some of the early complaints was the lack of icon. The piped in engine noise is gone in my build though. Build date 12/9/18.
  13. The home screen button seems to be only on cars made in the later batches. That along with the simulated engine noise was changed later on.
  14. Went and got the front windows tinted using madico black pearl nano-ceramic film. Factory fronts tested at 80% opacity so I went with 45% film for a result of 35% (exact legal limit in CT). Rears tested at 20% exactly.
  15. Oh wow that is weird. Someone grabbed from the wrong bin i guess. It definitely make yours unique but it looks off with the rest of the blacked out trim.
  16. Congrats! You will definitely enjoy it. Does it have the heated steering wheel icon on the home screen? Also do you get the piped in engine noise in sport mode?
  17. Congrats on the car. Definitely bring it to a dealer to have the door mechanism looked at. Mine does not open by accident, even when bumped.
  18. Check your DM for info. I can ship through my job but I would suspect it will be expensive to PR.
  19. My build date was December 9th and Last digits of Vin are 39607
  20. I asked the dealer about having both addressed as i was signing the papers but it was Saturday and the service department was closed. The GM also seemed he had never knew this could be done so I'm not sure if it was just a rouge service tech or something done at manufacturing.
  21. I have only had my ST for a few days but I can absolutely say the B&O system is vastly superior to the Sony system. It has muuuch better sound clarity at all volume levels with minimal distortion compared to the Sony system. Also surround sound emulation has much less quality loss and no sacrifice in bass. The B&O system has nearly double the power and it is very obvious once you hear it.
  22. Hmm. They got the hp and torque figures wrong. In the article but it looks interesting.
  23. Finally took some pics. I absolutely love this car. All of the original concerns I had appear to have been fixed in this production batch. There is no “piped in engine sound” and no shift delay or lag.
  24. Sport mode has the same problem as just deactivating start/stop with the button. It defaults back to non sport every time you turn off the car.
