  1. There are several different types. Some floods, some focused. I use the floods on my RZR, but when its pitch black and youre offroad you want light everywhere!
  2. I would guess with short trips back and forth to schools the Sport had no opportunity to warm up? I drive a mixed city and highway route 13 miles each way to work and average mid 22's. Im pretty happy with that. On 3.5 hour highway journeys to our farm in NY Ive seen as high as mid 25's. Not bad considering that the stated highway average is 23. Good luck with your new car, she's a beauty for sure especially with those wheels! Do you mind telling what CarMax offered you on the Sport and how many miles you had? I've always wondered about them.
  3. Caliper covers to cover the big ugly and highly visible brakes. http://www.amazon.com/Caliper-Covers-Ford-Edge-Licensed/dp/B006T3C6VS/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1349827286&sr=1-1&keywords=caliper+covers%2C+Ford+Edge
  4. congratulations. You're going to love your Edge. Friend of mine had a 2005 Freestyle and we thought that car was cool when it came out! I got an 05 Escape and he got the Freestyle, looking back now it wasnt that great of a car after all. Good luck and dont forget to post some photos of your new ride.
  5. I used a 9005 in my 2011. Works perfect, Did the bulb change in subsequent years?
  6. Short answer Yes. Do you have a vanity mirror? If you do then the vanity mirror power will also power the homelink. If not, then youll have to run power in there.

  10. Id recommend washing your rims with Dawn dish detergent, then following up with isopropyl alcohol. I think you'll find your wells will be very clean for a good bond with the plastiDip.
  11. I run these in my Polaris RZR-S and was considering them for flush mount through the lower plastic grill (black honeycomb grill). They throw a lot of light, use little power. There are actually a few LED Offroad lights that I like, thought i'd share. http://www.rigidindustries.com/DuallyD2FlushMountDrivingPair-p/51231.htm
  12. Getting detailed this afternoon (10/05) in my driveway.
  13. What an absolute shame. You figure they could have come up with a small lever to unlock the gears and allow the backrest to fall forward. I mean what gets used more? A seat that can fold or a seat adjustment that will be set and forgotten about... Oh well.
  14. Welcome aboard! You'll find a lot of great information and experience here. Post up some photos and tell us how you're enjoying your new ride when you finally park it and stop staring at it. :shades:
  15. I installed the 55W 5000K DDMTuning kit as well in my 2011 Sport, although my bulb type was 9005. They've never failed and I love them! Be warned though, you do need to adjust or at least check your headlight cutoff height after installing.
  16. So today I began getting the Sport ready for winter. Last year I was given a few cans of Crystal View Chemicals Nano Diamond shield Spray on paint protection. (http://www.crystalvi....com/about-cvc/) I have to say that it took me longer to properly prep the Edge for application than to apply and wipe the excess carrier fluid from my vehicle after applying it. It worked well for about 9 months and only during the summer did i notice that the protection offered by it was diminishing in most areas and completely gone in others. So I was in the market to try something new. Ford Edge Forum member "Richy" who happens to be a Board of Director member on the detailing forum Live2detail gave me lots of help and led me to the combination of DuraGloss (DG) Products that I used today. He suggested a thorough cleaning with Dawn dish detergent to remove surface dirt, grime, grease, oils and any old coatings. I actually washed the car twice with Dawn using a two bucket method (One for soapy wash water, a second for clean water to rinse the chenille wash mitt after every pass on the vehicle). After washing twice with Dawn, I used a CarPro product called Iron-X. Iron-X is a unique car shampoo which seeks out and eliminates iron and ferrous metal deposits on the surface and impacted into your paint. This step was done twice as well. (Read more here: http://www.autogeek....-x-cleaner.html Here is a photo of Iron-X at work on the hood of my White Edge, you'll notice all of the red spots as the ferrous metals are being broken down. More red dots, they slowly popped up everywhere it seemed. Once the hood was rinsed and dried, I used a Meguiars Clay bar and clayed the vehicle. To my surprise, it was a quick procedure and one half of one bar was all I used, and it remained very clean upon my completion. I wiped down each panel with Isopropyl alcohol on a small square of Microfiber cloth. I now had a squeaky clean area to start applying polish. For polish I used a mixture of DuraGloss DG501 mixed with DG601in a 4:1 ratio. The DG601 is a bonding agent that helps polishes last longer by creating a strong chemical bond. (http://www.autogeek....ding-agent.html) DG501 was the polish I used in order to have the most protection through this fall and winter. (http://www.autogeek....olish--501.html) I applied this product mixture using a new Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital polisher that I purchased from BJs wholesale club online. (http://www.bjs.com/s...0765stdcrd.html) *I got mine for $89. a few days ago but see that they went up. Keep an eye out for a price drop on this.* Speaking of polishing with a machine...I have to admit I was a little intimidated trying a machine for the first time, but after playing around with it on another vehicle, I confidently used it on my Edge with fantastic results! I'm a true believer in dual action polishers! I first applied the DG501/601 combo with a 5.5" Buff and Shine brand Green colored pad, and then wiped clean the hood with a clean microfiber towel. Next I applied a DG105/601 (http://www.autogeek....nce-polish.html) combo with a Buff and Shine brand Blue colored pad, wiping with a different microfiber cloth. Last up was a finish coat of Colonite 845 insulator wax. Colonite 845 is widely regarded as one of the best carnauba waxes you can buy, and I quickly saw why. After applying a super thin layer of 845 using the polisher and a separate blue pad the paint looked a mile deep, was slick to the touch, the metallic paint sparkled like never before and the finish look dripping wet. I couldn't be more thrilled with the combination and the results. I'm more thrilled that I've added a random orbital polishing tool to my garage and look forward to learning how to master it. Many thanks to Richy for answering all my questions. Here's a nice reflective shot of my front grill. Beading in the rain
  17. We received a 2013 Edge Limited as a loaner while my wife's Explorer is in for repairs. Looking over the Edge today I was very surprised to see that Ford did away with the fold flat passenger seat. It seemed so innovative when I first saw it that I wondered why all from passengers seats didn't do this? I've used this countless times in my Sport to haul over sized lumber and long items and was sad to see it missing. Does anyone know when it was dumped? Like I said, my 11 Sport has it, but our 11 Explorer does not.
  18. As I close in on my 2 year anniversary with my 11 Sport, I'm as excited to drive it everyday now, as the day I drove it off the lot in 2010.
  19. Flame if you must, but I received a K&N air filter as a Christmas gift after purchasing my 3.7L Sport. I carefully kept track of every fill-up and saw a gain of 1-3mpg. I removed it, I lost the same mpg, I re-installed and saw my gain again. My friend who owns a performance shop told me he uses them all the time and to not listen to all the non believers. I'm a believer and its worked for me. Try it yourself and see how you make out.
  20. One of our members "Richy" Is a very well respected detailer. Ask him about paint correction and Im sure he can get you in contact with a qualified detailer in your area. He's one of the board of directors for Live2Detail.com Ask him about a new nano product called CQuartz. It's nano sized ceramic particles that adhere to your paints surface. After correction and polishing, you apply the CQuartz and it seals your paint much like Opti-coat. Users love it and with some routine maintenance it seems to last years.
  21. WOW. How simple a design... That's a great idea. Let me tell you, to make what they made is so easy that a beginner can do it. You can buy a small fiberglass repair cloth (enough for this job) from Kmart or Walmart for under $5. Fiberglass resin can be had for under $10 for a small can which can do this job 5X. once you've purchased your supplies follow along with their video and you'll make your frame. $800. Ha too funny. Ill be making one of these for myself when I get some downtime over the winter. Thanks for the link.
  22. Mask off the car and paint it with plasti-dip spray paint. in three years peel it off and your dirty black paint will still be there unharmed. https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php
  23. You'll pay close to the same cost as a fair quality paint job for a good quality film wrap. If you dont like the color You may be better off selling it for the color you want though, as your painted vehicle will not bring any better resale later on.
