    Ford Edge 2012

    1) Motorcraft oil is good. It is made for & recommended by Ford. 2) Most people would recommend changing the tranny fluid earlier, ~50K miles. Best to use the oil specified in the Owners Manual (Motorcraft Mercon LV). 3) Yes, there is no Fuel Filter to replace. I think the filter is part of the Fuel Pump, that might be why it is not a maintenance item. Since you used 5W-30 Engine oil, I guess you have the 2.0 L 4 cylinder Engine, correct? The transmission is different between the 6 & 4 cylinder engines so take care regarding the correct procedure for changing the fluid. It might be different. Edit: Just saw Akirby's post, go for 60K then as per his buddy's recommendation.
  2. A question for anyone with a 2011-2015 Lincoln MKX with DRL enabled as the fog lights, does the fog light indicator in the instrument panel turn on whenever the DRL fog lights are on? I enable DRL fog lights on my 2011 MKX using the Forscan software, now the fog light indicator turns on whenever the DRL is on. Also DRL comes on whenever the transmission shifter is out of "P" and the head lights are off. Even when the parking lights only are on, the DRL fog lights will turn on. Just would like to know if that it the factory setup for DRL fog lights if they were enabled through the IDS.

    IDS/Scan tool?

Good luck welpse & thanks for the update. So then what does the full Android version have over the Demo? Also, note that the beta windows version has some "programming" functions, like DRL, but you'll need the extended license (2-months) which is currently free.
  4. If you have the optional 21" wheels maybe try the 20" wheels instead like what enigma-2 suggested. Also with the 21" wheels you might have the summer tire option, which are sportier & hence I think would be harder.

    IDS/Scan tool?

Forscan.org has a free software that do some programming. Using an adaptor like the ScanTool OBDlink MX you can access a lot of things with Ford vehicles. Note that a main advantage of the MX is access to both HS-Can & MS-Can on Fords.
  6. Congrats & welcome to the forum.
  7. It's a 2014 model, the struts should still be fine. Most probable cause is that the a button (dash, cargo or fob) was mistakenly pressed for closing the door. Also note that the lift gate an Obstacle detection feature, from the manual:
  8. Can't say for the tranny or steering, you should go by what the Owners Manual specifies for your specific model year. mact is an expert with the Edge, especially the early models, he put more than 250k miles on his.
  9. Ford recommends 10W-30 in our region (Arabian Gulf / Middle East) where temperatures in the summer easily exceed 120F.
  10. As per the TSB: So the 2008 model would not be covered by this TSB.
  11. The relevant section of the manual: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O31263&languageCode=EN&marketCode=US&vCode=&vFilteringEnabled=True&subTitleSelected=G1675928&chapterTitleSelected=G1675927&topicHRef=G1728925&viewTech=IE&div=f I know it is for a 2016, but should be similar for the 2015.
  12. This thread has a video for an alternative solution by a member. You can see which wire is responsiblef or the warning light & just cut it or short it to ground, depending on how it works.
  13. I don't know why they still state this, but at least since my 2008 Taurus & now 2011 MKX didn't get their Radio presets reset on a battery disconnect/change!
  14. I never tried dimming mine, so don't know if its a common bug. Are you on the latest MyFord Touch update? Version 3.8? If yes, try to disconnect the car's battery for ~10 minutes to reset the electronics. If that doesn't work try a Master Reset for the Sync (center screen settings). If all these don't work, then I'd say you'll need to visit a dealer.
  15. You need a special tool to remove the socket from the front, without needing to remove panel. I faced a similar problem for the rear (2nd row) power point. I removed the whole trim piece & even then it was quite difficult to remove the socket. I remember I had to break it off. Just shows how life is so much easier with the right tools. I found this tool on Amazon, I remember the Ford tool looks similar, but I can't be sure. http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-56457-Cigarette-Lighter-Removal/dp/B00G3YYSLE
  16. This is what I used. Like what candurin stated, opening the puddle lamps is very doable.
  17. The latest maps version should work, but it would be better to have latest Sync update from Ford's website.
  18. Checked it out today & took some photos. Just note that its all filled up with grease.
  19. Never thought about it myself, but a very important issue. I also keep my charging cables next to the spare wheel. Just checked the Owners Manual & there seems to be a way, will need to see it in car to confirm.
  20. Like what "WWWPerfA_ZN0W" stated, may be the Battery Monitoring System requires resetting. There is an another to reset it yourself: From this post: Carry out the Battery Monitoring System (BMS) Reset using the scan tool after the battery is connected. If the BMS Reset is not carried out, it takes approximately 8 hours for the Body Control Module (BCM) to learn the new battery state of charge. During this 8 hour period, the vehicle must be undisturbed, with no doors opened or keyless entry button presses. If the vehicle is used before the BCM is allowed to learn the new battery state of charge, engine off load shedding can still occur and a message may be displayed."
  21. The fuel door on newer Fords, including the 2015+ Edge, open by "pushing the door in" so it comes out, unlike the order ones that have a lip to pull the door open. So I'd guess this piece is for the mechanism that allows the door to "push" in & out.
  22. Yes, mine was replaced under warranty, though it was still the original 4-year Lincoln warranty. But the extended warrant did show up on the dealer's system when they checked my car. I am living in Qatar and they will honor all warranties listed on my car or any other Ford/Lincoln vehicle sold in the GCC area.
  23. Dear Mohamed, The dealer is trying to cheat you. You should make a complaint to the consumer protection agency in your country or call Ford Middle East in Dubai.
