The 2016 MKX doesn't have the same vista roof as the Edge. If I recall correctly, you have the smaller panel in front & when it opens it slides below the rear panel (basically it's a regular moonroof with a big glass panel behind it). The 2015+ Edge has the same vista roof from 2007+ where the front glass is the larger panel & when opening it slides above the rear smaller glass panel. I think due to the big(ger) panel on the Edge & the fact that the rails/tracks are somewhat exposed & more subject to dirt & grime, the pinch sensor cannot be accurate enough like smaller roofs to close completely in a safe manner.

So it does not change the oil in the converter? If all it does is take out old oil & pour in new into the same pan, right?

Current Honda owner interested in Ford Edge
omar302 replied to Leah Maureen's topic in Welcome Forum!
The 2015 Edge is a new generation, 2011-2014 are the older models. In general, the newer you get would be better, other than very early 2011 builds, there are no specific years with problems. So if you liked the 2011-2014 models, get a 2014. Avoid any unwanted features like AWD or the Vista roof unless you really need them & enjoy. It is also a good idea to get a certified pre-owned with extended warranty for the piece of mind. Another alternative would be the Lincoln MKX, it is mechanically a twin to the Edge with some few more bells & whistles & a longer factory warranty. Only the MKX's new generation debuted in 2016, so the 2015 model is similar to 2011-2014 (unlike the Edge), price for used ones are generally not that much higher than Edges. -
Ford knows that heat kills the PTU, hence they extended the warranty on them for those in very hot countries & even provided the replacements with drain valves with ~9K or ~18K mile drain/refill intervals. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13533-13m01-middle-east-ptu-extended-warranty/

Mac, How does the machine your using change fluids? I tried to figure it out from you video but could only see a line going through the oil dipstick.

This is just a shot in the dark, try disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to reset all the modules. See if it helps.

@Tjr92024 You case sounds like you dealt with a very bad dealer taking advantage of you being a regular repeat customer! The good thing about people living in the US is you always have other dealers to go to if the service done was not satisfactory.

Hopefully WWWPerfA_ZN0W gets you on the right track. But if your MKX is a 2013, shouldn't it still be under the 4 year 50K miles warranty? If yes, then just take it to your dealer.

Both sides, driver & passenger don't have heat?

Finally was able to get a copy of the latest TSB (attached) for this issue & it seems to be a good update on the previous one including a pressure test. Already talked to my dealer to get my car back to redo parts of the TSB is it is very clear it was not done properly. Hope they'll fix it good this time. tsb15-03-NA.pdf

I'm in Qatar, it took around 2 weeks to arrive. They sold so many that I was comfortable ordering from them.

No idea, sorry. All I used it for was to re-program As built Data.

I purchased this with the switch already installed & is working fine.

Dual Climate Control Repair
omar302 replied to finzup's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Thanks for the reply. I just read you post. Actually yesterday I was able to remove the BDA, it was difficult (for me). After removing the BDA I tried to hold the blend door actuator by hand to full cold as much as I can but still noticed the driver's side being warmer than the passenger side. Though I still suspected the BDA, I just installed it back (harder than removing it) & set an appointment with the dealer to get it checked along with the refrigerant charge as per you advice. I know my dealer, if they feel I did anything they will then blame me for anything that goes wrong -
On my 2011, it is also made from foam. I think it has to do with being sound absorbent/insulator.

Dual Climate Control Repair
omar302 replied to finzup's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Further to my post, I found the procedure forreplacing the driver side blend actuator for 2007-2010 Edge, checked on my 2011 MKX and it seems I can't access the 3rd screw holding the actuator. I did however confirm the actuator is moving, also reset the HVAC module using forscan. Yet, still the driver side is noticeably less cold. Could the actuator be defective by not moving all the way, yet is still moving partially? How can I check and what is the procedure to replace it? Thanks. -

Hi wisdomsp, Do you have any update? Is there some calibration required? I started to feel the driver's side being noticeably less cold than the passenger side with A/C on high or max when it is really hot outside. Changing the temperature to a warmer setting does make both sides warmer, just that at the coldest setting, the driver's side does not get as cold as the passenger side. -
Sync update issues and back up camera
omar302 replied to Zoheb Siddiqui's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think recently Ford switched to dealer updates only. S you'll need to update to V3.8 through your dealer only. It should be for free up to 5 years from warranty start date. For the camera, as fas as I know, this is an indication that the camera needs replacement. -
Sport rpms fluctuating in highway in 6th gear at low rpms
omar302 replied to junehhan's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
Try to test drive another Edge Sport under the same conditions or just take it to the dealer. -
From the owners manual, the PTU should take 12 ounces (0.35 L) of "SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant"

What fuel are you using? Regular or Premium? if regular, try premium next time. It is probable the torque converter as akirby stated, locking/unlocking since as you described the engine is lugging. It is a small step to get a little more engine power before downshifting. Try premium fuel first, then if it is still there, show it to your dealer, may an update to the PCM is available that would solve it. -
