  1. This may sound nutty, but I had a similar problem with my wife's Grand Cherokee. It turned out to be a wheel bearing. Does the noise increase or change pitch with speed? It was intermittent and usually when the car was cold. The first time I heard it I thought it was a siren and was looking for the emergency vehicle.
  2. On the Edge the spoiler is painted body color. Lincoln is Black, I imagine the black sucks heat up like crazy and degrades the plastic. I am assuming that the panel is plastic and not painted. Either way I think the best way to repair it is to sand it and paint it. I would remove it and give it a sanding, primer, base coat of black and cleat coat it. You can get clear in varying glosses. It's a small panel and it should easy to rattle can it. In my opinion I would go with glossy finish. It will go well with the windows and trim around the doors.
  3. Check the tone rings on the axles and the abs sensors. Bad wire/sensor or cracked tone ring can cause multiple abs and traction problems.
  4. When I bought my aftermarket system I also purchased the unit for the steering wheel controls. It is still sitting in the box along with the backup camera. I'm just lazy. I can still turn around to see what's behind me.
  5. I found with my 2007 that leaving the ignition on during a fill up would screw with the gas gauge. My mirrors were screwed up when I bought it and I discovered the switch was bad. Cheap part on EBay. Do you have an OE radio in the car? If not you probably won't have use of these controls.
  6. My 2007 Edge has had an occasional misfire under these conditions. Low rpm in high gear while going slight incline uphill. The plugs were changed less than 40,000 miles ago and I wasn't looking forward to removing the intake again. I decided to look at the front 3 first. The second coil I removed I found that the coil boot had a burn , and carbon trace on the inside. Also found carbon trace on the plug and inside the well. The coil was perfect. I cleaned the well and the plug, and replaced the coil because the parts place didn't have the boot. While servicing I cleaned the throttle body. It's never been done. 138,000 miles and it was really dirty. The car is back to it's former pleasure to drive state. The computer wasn't hurt by this misfire. I am buying a set of boots and will change all at the next tune-up.
  7. You could block the sensor in the center of the dash. They would think it's night all the time.
  8. I had a not really similar problem with the A/C on a ford contour. Cold on one side and warm on the other. Just low Freon and half of the evap. would get cold. Your heater core could be blocked and only half is getting hot. There is only one blend door with the manual HVAC. Have you thought about having the core reverse flushed.
  9. I only changed the pump. The tensioners and chains were examined and my mechanic advised that they were in perfect condition. I never received a check engine light to indicate that the cam timing was off. This is a common occurrence when the pump goes and the chains loosen up.
  10. Possible CV joint noise, suspension creaking, bowling ball loose in the back. akirby may be right. I found a set of keys hidden in the hidden bottom compartment of the center console that drove me nuts when I got my 2007. every turn they slid form side to side.
  11. Your pictures show that you have the gold colored antifreeze in the car. Ford changed the specs to use their green fluid. If you don't have antifreeze in the oil, the pump could be leaking from the weep hole that can be seen on the top of the engine. If you are loosing coolant you need to find the leak. If you think it's the pump than do not postpone changing it because it is much cheaper than changing the engine. The gold fluid doesn't have the ability to lubricate the seals on the pump. My pump required changing at about the same mileage as yours.
  12. I would call Crutchfield. They may run a bit more expensive but they have advisors that know what works and what doesn't. They have dash adaptors that will look factory. Also if you have a problem when doing the installation they are there to help
  13. This is my Annie. Doggie endurance winner and she goes airborne. Pure Mutt rescue from a South Carolina kill center. Best dog I have ever had. She only rides in the back of the SUV because she will barf on you if she's anywhere else.
  14. Part is in. Being installed one week from today.
  15. Press the INFO button on the center stack. there are 2 timers. You can scroll through different functions. You can reset the times, mileage, trip odometers by holding the reset button for a few seconds. Play with the buttons and learn their functions.
  16. I live in Connecticut and have a FWD Edge. The car is originally from Louisiana so it wasn't ordered with AWD (or seat heaters). My wife drives a Grand Cherokee. We live at the top of a hill. If it snows you can bet I'm using the Jeep. You can't beat AWD in the snow or rain. You are not looking to accelerate quickly because of the AWD, you just need it to get moving.
  17. I wasn't being discouraged from using them for the repair, I think they should have just ordered the part using the vin# and I would have waited for the scheduled repair appointment. They did set up an appointment for an inspection. This is the same dealership that replaced the gas tank and gave me a loaner.
  18. I got the letter that my airbag was available for replacement. I called the local Ford dealer and they said the car had to be inspected before the bag was ordered. They told me that I needed to make an appointment for an inspection. Minimum waiting time was 2 1/2 weeks and I couldn't bring it in without an appointment. I called another dealer who asked me for the vehicle ID and told me he ordered the airbag. I asked if they needed to look at the car and he told me that he had all the info from the ID#. It will be in in about a week and then I need an appointment for installation. Some dealers are better than others I guess. Finally, I can put my mother-in-law in the back seat again.
  19. Congratulations, My 2007 is just past getting broken in at 133,000 miles. The best part is not having car payments. Good servicing and keeping up with the little things really counts.
  20. Try cleaning the throttle body. The idle air bypass may be at it max because of carbon buildup. Probably won't fix the other stuff but it may keep it from stalling.
  21. I almost didn't buy my gen 1 Edge because of the wimpy blower. I read up and discovered that the filter was never changed and nothing could get through it. The airflow doesn't compare to my wife's grand Cherokee but is definitely adequate. Don't forget there are vents in the rear console that cool the back of the car.
  22. I would still use a heat gun and try to get it from the back. You may be able to eliminate most of the damage by just heating it and trying to push it back in shape with your hands. Wet sanding and buffing will take the green paint off. If you need to touch up automotivetouchup.com is a great source for paint. a rattle can and a good sanding will make it much less noticeable. If your looking for perfect you may need to remove the bumper and work on it off the car. (Bondo, Sanding, reshaping with heat) Once you get rid of the obvious marks you will not notice it as much.
