  1. I did the Chinese replacement route on a Ford Contour. I sold it to a guy in work and the only thing that still looks good are the headlights. It's not good to sell a car where you will see it after you sell it. Here is what it looked like when I had it.
  2. If you're going to change the PCV think about doing the plugs at the same time. It may seem like a waste if you're at the halfway point in their lives, but it will give you a start point of 90,000 miles before they need to be done again. The intake manifold is a PITA to remove. If you do, be sure to have gaskets on hand. (Also some Band-Aids)
  3. I have done this on my 2007 just to see it work. Very interesting info.
  4. Comprehensive usually doesn't have the same deductible as collision insurance. I hit a deer and was surprised that I only had to pay $25 for the repair. Call your insurance co. and see what the story is. They will also include the installation charge at a garage. This could be quite a lot considering that removal of the front bumper is required to do the replacement. It may cover the cost of both headlights. E bay usually has used lights for sale. I saw a bunch in the $120 range.
  5. Thanks enigma, I forgot about the mirror, I was thinking only the lighting. Guess I'll have to rewire mine now. Does the camera shut off when you are in reverse? The mirror doesn't dim when your backing up. It really doesn't matter but I was just curious.
  6. Very nice, White looks great with the black trim. Mine is 10 years old and I still enjoy looking at it and I still look forward to driving it. Good luck
  7. I just put one in my 2007, no BAMR. All the power on mine in that area is always on. You may have better luck with the moon roof. The cameras usually pull only about 5V 1A. You will need to convert the 12V in order to use it. Read the specs on your camera to be sure. Running down the A pillar only took a few minutes on a 2007.
  8. Sorry to hear that, my wife does that to my lawnmower all the time. The parking pawl in the transmission probably took the brunt of the force. I would pay close attention to the driveline parts CV joints/axles that lead up to the trans. If the car drives and acts normal now you probably avoided any damage. Is the back of the car damaged badly? Keep an eye and ear open for noises that increase with road speed and look for oil leaks from the PTO.
  9. I think they used a Pinto gas tank on the Hindenburg. I vote for a recall. Unsafe at any altitude.
  10. I have preformed all of these important maintenance items including re-gluing the turbo emblem on the tailgate. I found I was losing performance and realized that I forgot about the turbo badge. Good thing it didn't fall off on the highway.
  11. I never named my Edge, I like her. I called a Chevy and a Jag the same name You "f'--ing POS"
  12. If it scared the crap out of you that might account for the stains on the roof. :happy feet:
  13. If your sure your SD card is good, you could try some canned air in the slot.
  14. Very psychedelic. Reminds me of the 60's. Actually I saw a lot of stuff that looked like that in a past life. I Think, maybe, don't know, what are we talking about? Huh?
  15. Your battery may be new but it wouldn't be the first time for something new to be bad. Can you take a voltage reading when the problem accurse? Will the car start if you shut it down during the problem?
  16. Hooray, it looks like they finally got rid of the ugly flying eagle grill and went with the Jaguar knock off grill.
  17. The fan may have been ruined by the water if you had to clean the drain to get the water out of the housing. The fan would still function even if you had no Freon in the system. The fan is an easy replacement and not expensive.
  18. I did the H9 conversion on my 2007 and had no problems. Not sure how they would effect gen 3 headlights.
  19. A flashing check engine is a warning that you're misfiring and dumping unburned fuel into the catalytic converters. They are overheating and can cause serious damage to themselves and anything around them that is flammable including the car itself. Read the attached snippet from the owners manual.
  20. My 2007 has the Takata recall on the passenger side airbag. Takata has gone bankrupt. Guess the people that died because of the default are still on the waiting list. I keep calling and they keep assuring me that they are working on the replacement. LOL BS
  21. Good luck with the knee, My wife did both last year, one in March and the other in November. Good thing I reached my max out of pocket with the first one so the second was free. She is just starting to get back to normal. I want to see her dodging all that chicken crossing traffic.
  22. I replaced both front axles on my 2007 complete with tone rings for about $100 bucks. These were new not rebuilt and were manufactured in the U.S. by Detroit Axle. They have been in the car for 3 years and are perfect. Try EBay and look up 2013 ford edge axles, FWD run about 100 bucks for the pair. The axles are the same for 07 thru 14. With the proper tools (air impact) the two axles took about 1 1/2 hours. To replace the tone ring you would have to remove the axle anyway. You can buy each side individually for about $50.
  23. I don't think the car has wiring for the seat already there. You can get a seat from a JY. The bolt holes should be the same. There is more than just the mechanism wiring involved. The seat has an airbag. If you get an exact replacement seat form the JY you may just have to run a power wire to power the motors and plug in any airbag, seat belt related wiring. If you get just the mechanism you will have to swap out much more. there may be compatibility problems. The seat frames and the track assembly may not work together. I have done the same thing on the passenger side of a 2002 Grand Cherokee and everything worked out well. When you buy your seat from the JY remember to have them cut the seat harnesses so you have the proper connectors for the seat motors.
  24. If you record it maybe we can tell what it is. The noise I'm talking about would be described as a knock. Where is it coming from?
