Two failed water pumps cut in half with a water jet (what is inside)
PaulSchott replied to macbwt's topic in 3.5L
We investigated using water jet cutting for leather. really good for patterns but very expensive 10 years ago when we were interested. The company found a cheaper solution, they sent the factory to China. !@#$% China Really great video mac. We use magnetic seals in our ultrasonic applications. when they leak the ethylene glycol gets into the bearings and eats them up. Some of our guys in the field use J.B. Weld in the weep holes to stop the leak. It makes it harder to rebuild and they might get another 1/2 mile out of the sensor. Once the bearings are contaminated it's all over in a very short time.- 13 replies

my 2007 3.5 developed a slight knock right before the water pump died. It was the chains getting loose. Have it checked before you possibly have some serious engine damage. listen to the front side of the engine for this noise. It sounds like a loose pulley or a bad belt tensioner.

First post and probably his last is an "I'll never buy another". I have to remember to join the toaster oven forum to bitch about my burnt Pop Tart.

I believe you're talking about the plastic clips attached to the mirror that hold it to the motor. If I am correct and it is the same as a 2007, you can probably just get the mirror replacement. If the glass isn't broken you can just use Tiger Seal or some other type of adhesive to just attach the mirror directly to the motor. It would be a real pain to remove it if it gets hit again or you need to replace the motor.

I agree with Mac. If you look at your picture of the outside boot you can see where the folds are rubbing on each other. It may not be causing the noise but it's an easy thing to check out.

Exterior Key Pad - No code...
PaulSchott replied to nittanydoug's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
You can also lock all doors by pressing the 4/5 and the 9/0 together. You can unlock all doors by using the code and adding a 2/7 to the end of the code. -

Good luck, Enjoy the ride. -
Could be lots of stuff. its hard to tell without hearing it. brakes bearings CV joint. I'm thinking CV joint if it changes with direction. brake wear indicators also change noises when turning. Does it change when you are braking?. you could try recording the noise and posting it.

Tail light Condensation
PaulSchott replied to d0minicano's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Restaurants used to hang signs over coat racks that they were not responsible for personal property. My mother's coat was stolen from a rack in the 80's. The lawyer told my dad that just because they hang a sign doesn't make them less responsible. I'm going to hang a sign on my front bumper that says I'm not responsible for running you over. I was once the proud owner of a 1970 Jaguar XJ6. I was told by the dealer that using 2 quarts of oil for a fill up (both tanks) was normal oil consumption. It seems that he was telling the truth. It still doesn't make it right!! I sold that POS in less than one year of ownership. My rant is over. -
They may not have found anything loose, but these are linked mechanically and move together unless there is something mechanically wrong with the link. If the drivers side is working correctly the passenger side should be following along. Next time, Video the problem and bring it to the dealer with you.

Big Valley Ford Lincoln - Stockton
PaulSchott replied to Zazzy's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
My father-in-law was in the auto business for his whole life, including new and used cars. He had tons of return customers because he always was fair. It's nice to hear that there are still good guys out there. -
It's possible that they just gave it a little makeup job to look better for sale. If it was replaced it wouldn't have been painted. I am assuming the car is used and not new.

If the gap is too small you can use an emery board to file down the electrode.

I quote Rodney King. "Can't we all just get along?" Oh, Wait a minute then his girlfriend hit him over the head with a shovel and threw him in the pool. Guess he was wrong!

My 2007 feels like a new car after 116,000 miles. Just keep the air pressure in the zone and service it regularly. My wife has a 2002 Grand Cherokee with only 125,000 miles on it and it drives like a truck and is the only car I've had that you can get a DUI in when you haven't been drinking.

Check the cooling fans with the A/C running, you will see they are not cycling on.

2012 MKX come out to car unlocked?
PaulSchott replied to Schmidty1284's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Will the remote work the locks when the car is being driven? I'll have to try this. I have had my panic alarm go off when walking to my car because my keychain, if in the wrong position can hit the panic button. -
My 2007 rear brakes are always noisy after a rain and an overnight in the garage. It's normal and goes away in drive after 1 or 2 stops. It's just a light rust film that forms after a few hours of dampness. Serious grinding that happens and doesn't go away is a reason for repairs. Be happy, its not broken.

HI it's nice to meet you also. Now that the introduction is over lets get to the problem. I would assume that the cargo mesh is jammed in the lock. The dealer is saying it's a wiring issue. It's a 2016 and should be under warrantee for wiring issues. I would tell them to fix it.

My 2007 had a screen and not a pollen filter on the A/C. Just a wash once every 6 months is perfect. at 200,000 miles it may also be ready for another plug change. There is a way to calibrate the compass. It isn't letting me copy and paste the instructions but they are in the owners manual on page 100 thru 101.

Have you had her a long time or is it a recent acquisition? A service history would be interesting. Welcome!

Ford finally posted an official picture of the Cognac interior
PaulSchott replied to cab2g's topic in Multimedia
I was watching the NY Rangers Stanley Cup playoff last night. Every car commercial had at least one showing a "Cognac" interior. I guess this is the latest and the greatest. Come and see me in five years. It may be like the middle 70's when every other car on the road was metallic brown with a tan vinyl roof and interior. All of you Cognac colored cows better watch out!! -
The sticker would be much cooler if it was free.
