  1. That smell seems to be gone, but let's see if it truly gone for good. Another question; I can't seem to find a menu that controls the duration timer on the marker lights after the door is closed. Seems like the lights stay on at least 30 seconds every time the door is opened. I would like to drop that time down to 10 or 15 seconds if possible. All things considered I could turn them off entirely (if I could) and not be bothered.
  2. I now have just under 1K on the clock (yeah I know ) and have nothing to complain about. I can see why even small rattles and other body noises are bothersome though...This thing has a really quiet interior so rattles really stick out. The only rattle I had was self induced by a four way lug wrench I put in the storage area. Its vibration against the spare tire required the targeted placement of a piece of indoor carpet to isolate it from the tire. I still have not grown accustomed to the numb feel of the steering, but its no big deal. The V-6 may not have the pep that the turbo-4 has but I find it easy to live with and very quiet. I can see why Ford has the horn sound if you leave the vehicle with the motor running, though that horn blast does get old when you leave the motor running on purpose. I am still working through the various menus to find out what does what. More later...
  3. I've seen a bunch on dealer's lots but it is rare that I see one on the road. What about you? On a side note... Are other 2016 model threads going to be moved into this sub-forum?
  4. My selection to buy the V-6 over the turbo-four was caused a lingering invalid concern from "the days of old". I was really more concerned with the employed direct injection technology which I know to be problematic in the valvetrane of these DI engines after they hit mid-life. (mileage wise) I will watch for this issue as owners of the DI motors hit that mid-life realm to see if this concern is invalid also.
  5. I contacted Weathertech and as of now they don't yet make a bug / stone deflectors for the second gen Edge. Who does? Pictures?
  6. Do you have anything constructive to add to to this forum, or is this the best you got?
  7. I agree with this 100%. My reasons for choosing it was that I didn't think much of the other available colors except black. From previous experience I knew did not want to care or live with a black Edge, so the Too good blue was a default. I like it well enough and as jacksprat mentioned it does pop in the right light.
  8. Me too and I am 6' 2". My worse fear is that it shifts into the side of my vehicle. I have to remind myself not to push my luck while reaching...
  9. That's what I use too! Exactly, but what I had in mind was using the rear hatch / window spoiler as the test panel. Just a non-scientific seat of the pants sort of thing that could use a "water beading" test on a small panel that gets the worst of ultra-violet and weather attack. (like the rest of the horizontal panels roof and hood) People could use whatever they want, of course it would be subjective, but it might be fun. Product(s), preparation, and garaged or not would be considerations to note. I have wondered if the size of the beads of water actually indicate anything regarding a products protection factor?
  10. But that was the point Nick. I wanted to see what lasts and what doesn't. Does all that work you listed enhance the longevity of the protection, or is it only good for an unspecified duration appearance enhancement? I thought we could at least come up with a "tell" for the need for re-application of product. Looks like there is not much interest anyway...
  11. I was wondering which tell, or visual cue you use to determine that it's time to re-wax or re-apply whatever it is you use to protect your vehicle's exterior. If we can come to a general consensus on this question I want to suggest a test where you use whatever it is that you use now and time / weather test it against others that may want to participate. The test area will involve using only one specific area on our Edge and will make for an interesting product comparison. First though, when do you re-apply whatever it is that you use and why? Anyone game for this?
  12. luxpow; Do yourself a favor and call or e-mail Ford (customer service) and ask for a Edge brochure. It will contain a coupon good for a discount of $500.00 or more. (I used this but don't recall if the discount was $500. or $750.?)
  13. I should think that kind of moisture would mean that the 2016's would have a leak issue. I don't believe any have been reported. So far, mine does not either.
  14. I'll try this and report back. I find it hard to believe it is this on a vehicle so new, besides it smells nothing like mildew or mold. As a secondary question: Do your electric fans run on initial start-up even when the vehicle is cold?
  15. That battery will be a pia & back to replace!
  16. I just discovered an odor that is very nasty. I am not really sure where it is coming from, but believe its origin is under the hood. I first noticed it the second or third time I used the AC. I parked in my garage after the first time and I noticed that there was no lingering trace of the odor, nor any drips or possible sources observed. Today I went out with the AC on and had the odor coming out of the dash vents ( in reg. or recirc. mode) and after returning and parking in the garage the smell was obvious, yet not easily traced to something I could pinpoint. The odor is unlike anything I have ever smelled coming from / out of an automobile. Not really a burned lube smell or burned plastic smell, but somewhat like that. There is no telltale noise, no smoke, nor visible fume. I will have to dig under the engine cover, or might just run it to the dealer. By the way, the AC seems to be working as it should. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  17. Being an "old school" blues rock guy I had to check out Robin Trower's new release, Where you are going to and was surprised to find that he has not slowed down one bit. In fact he is doing the vocals on this cd. He does not have the pipes that his old bass player James Dewar did of Bridge of Sighs fame, but then who does? I liked this song of the new release best of all. It's hard to believe that Robin still shreads a guitar like he does after after 71 years... An interview:
  18. If this is where country is today, sign me up...Waylon must be smiling...
  19. Are you going to put some protection on for the front of the hood? I am having a difficult time finding something for that application that looks good and will fit our vehicle.
  20. I ordered and installed the low profile ventshades.( http://www.amazon.com/Auto-Ventshade-894035-Seamless-Ventvisor/dp/B011E9TN9Y/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1457562890&vehicle=2016-54-5858------------2-0&sr=1-4&ymm=2016:ford:edge&keywords=ventshades&tag=viglink20819-20) They do add a bit of wind noise, but they do keep the rain out when the windows are down a couple of inches. This allows the vehicle to shed a fair amount of heat when parked in direct sunlight, and my black interior does get hot!
  21. Anyone with the new gen. (2015-16) Edge find a bug / hood guard that fits? Which brand did you install and how was that installation, did it require drilling? How do you like it? Please post up a picture.
  22. Sweet aircraft, nicer video! http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/witness-the-smoothest-jet-fighter-footage-ever-at-345-m-1771701645
  23. I came up with a temp. solution. I took a folded towel (lengthwise) and tucked both sides of it into the storage compartment and shut it, pinching the sides and anchoring them. I positioned it to be just wide enough to cover the top of the bumper cover and just flip it to the inside after the dog jumps in. By the way when you don't move it away from the rear hatch locking pins the Edge gets upset ;>) You will get a dash display and in my case I had to lift the hatch by hand to free the latch from the material. No big deal, but worth mentioning.
