  1. Where money is no object these tires are great in climates that get snow. They will most likely be my next set.
  2. I have the Hankook Ventus S1 Nobel on my 16 Sport. They seem to be holding up pretty well. I have almost 29k on them.
  3. For the most part I don't use the built in nav for gps work, except when I leave my phone at home. As far as the other voice command functions I'll try speaking faster and see how that works. Dialing phone numbers (perhaps because that is what I use most) seems to be the most problematic for me.
  4. I take back the noticing of improvements in voice recognition of Sync - it is still just as hit or miss with my voice as it always has been. I have to use android auto to get decent voice recognition.
  5. v3.0 is rolling out via wifi now too. My 2016 just picked up the update. I noticed I was updated when I saw the heated steering button on the main screen. It also seems that the voice recognition is improved too. The more recent updates (for me) were a step backward in voice recognition function.
  6. These capacities are consistent with the html version of the manual for my 16 as well. I find it interesting that even the most current printing pdf version has the old quoted statistics on it. It seems such an easy thing to edit and recompile for accuracy sake. These updated statistics also verify what MACT has said previously about the increased fluid capacities on the PTUs.
  7. 1.) It was for me and it should be for you. It is a TSB in the computer and your dealership ought to pick that up. 2.) You shouldn't need to if they find the TSB replacement of the part is the solution. I never felt that it was a danger driving the car with the error - it was annoying to have the error in the first place, but all that happened in my case was that adaptive steering was turned off.
  8. Now to get your money back for an install that never happened.
  9. It may also be that the reason for those differences has something to do with the amount of heat that the PTU on the 2.0 is exposed to due to the design and fit. It does seem strange given the power differential between the two motors.
  10. I can't tell you anything about the air induction, but I can tell you that the fluid capacity of the PTU and the RDU have the same - or approximately the same amounts as the previous generation. In my mind this makes putting the BEST fluids in these extremely important.
  11. I have a 16 Sport with 26k on the clock and have not had any problems. I have changed the fluid twice, the first time with Motorcraft, and the second time with the MACT recommended selection - Red Line 58404 Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil.
  12. I had it done at the local Ford dealer. I know one of the service reps (coached him in football) and they will use whatever materials I provide (which is great).
  13. Yesterday I had the transmission, RDU, and PTU fluids all changed out for Redline products. In particular I had the Lightweight Shockproof stuff put in mentioned by mact. Wow - what a difference. So much smoother. I've had the ptu fluid changed once already, but I can remember after having that changed out I could hear the gears spinning up for the first few miles after. Nothing like that this time - just silence and smooth operation. Very, very happy with the results. Redline products are legit.
  14. The dealer did replace my steering wheel a few weeks ago with the updated part. This appears to be the fix as I have had no further errors. Besides the annoying warning light, the error actually did disable adaptive steering, which has kind of grown on me over time - like fungus.
  15. Friends - I give you the Saber-Tooth Edge - with custom towing hookup.
  16. I have the same type of error (still under the 36k mile warranty) that Raven has. I took it into my dealer to be checked out for the second time and they are going to replace the steering wheel. I'll post again after the new part is in and working.
  17. That could be some gnawed up nylon rope. My garden tractor had that stuff in it after a winter one year. I keep a critter chaser ultrasonic device plugged in now in the garage at all times. That has worked for me.
  18. Thanks! I also put in an order for 5. This is supposedly an add on item, but if you buy 5 or more you meet the minimum order amount ($25) in order to ship this. My dealer soaks me for the filters when I have them change the oil, so this really helps.
  19. I don't think Ford has any intention of updating the Sync3 maps. I don't think they have much to do with this personally - I think they've left this up to a third party - and that entity is a bunch of ball droppers. I would not pay for NAV in these units given the choice - considering how the updating has gone here it is NOT worth it - by any stretch of the imagination.
  20. I can verify this. Waze has lots of advantages - BUT - the integration with AA needs work. For example, if you are on a route to a destination and you have to shut the car off - Waze does not handle this as you might expect. Basically it cancels the route - instead of picking back up where you left off and restarting your directions. That isn't the kind of integration one would expect from a navigation app. Most other nav systems or apps handle this as expected, but the last time I tried it - not Waze.
  21. Here is a link to several ways you might adjust the nav volume. I think the easiest way is the first one listed - I think that is what you are asking about. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/solution-finder/your-vehicle/interior/center-console/sync-and-tech/myford-touch/navigation/usage/how-do-i-adjust-my-navigation-system-volume.html
  22. When I had this done I did have to tell my service rep about the drain plug on the gen 2 PTU. These service rep guys have a lot to keep up with. We have one model of vehicle we are thinking about getting good service for - they are responsible for all of them. Fortunately I know my guy - and he listens to me - that makes all the difference. The gen 1 PTU is what the reps were being weird about servicing. I even called around to some mom and pop transmission shops and they wouldn't perform the service either. Whether that is laziness, or not wanting the 'liability' I cannot say.
  23. Yeah, but could you get it with a towing package?
  24. The main appeal of the Kumho brand is price. I've never run a set on an Edge, but I had them on an Explorer I bought. The tires ended up being shot due to cupping that led to road noise at all speeds. I ended up having to replace those long before the usable tread was really shot. This from a tire that was mostly driven on the highway.
  25. I actually did that once in a Chevrolet Cavalier convertible. My then girlfriend (now spouse) and I were driving in unfamiliar territory and came up on this intersection that had an unholy crown to the road and apparently I missed a speed limit change sign and holy moly - we went through this intersection and launched the car! We laughed AFTER - but during it we FREAKED! That car got a new set of shocks after because apparently they do not survive that kind of treatment.
