Welcome to the forum John. This is ''the place'' of those in the know.

The stud size was increased to 14mm from 1/2" on the 2015 up Edges. I would trust the manual and the Ford engineers over the advice of your neighbour.

After 40+ years of modifying every vehicle I've owned I now have a daily with no power enhancements. It seems so weird.

My previous CUV had a 2 litre turbo GDI motor and it would take quite a while to get up to operating temperature in the winter unless I drove it like I stole it. It seems to be the case with a lot of GDI motors. Directly injecting ice cold fuel into the combustion chamber might contribute to it. It seems most modern small displacement motors take a while to heat up in the northern climates. Speaking of northern climates, it would sure help if this forum had a functioning user location feature. That would help with answering certain types of questions.

I'm heading out to the garage now to take a long hard look at my fuel door.

Nothing like having a clear component for doing the final fit and clearance analysis. This was a major project that had a very successful outcome. Congratulations on a job well done! ?

Fantastic news! Looking forward to seeing it installed.

So was I. Your generalizing and I'm offering additional information for those that might be interested. Both of my vehicles are Fords. Have a nice day!

That's not entirely true. There are coated leathers and semi aniline leathers. I suspect the Edge uses coated leather so yes conditioners would be useless. Both of my vehicles have semi aniline seating surfaces and they require proper cleaning and conditioning products. Pledge would not be a good idea for this type of leather. A general rule of thumb is if the leather absorbs water it's not coated.

I'm running a UPR 4 stage catch can on the PVC side only. It's a similar setup to the JLT and seems to do just fine. It collects oil and the exit side is always clean and dry. I prefer to run mine without the check valves. No check valves = no potential check valve failures. I had a JLT plug and play setup on my Mustang prior to switching both cars over to the UPR systems. My advice would be to go with the JLT plug and play setup. It's simple and it works.

I can hardly wait to see the end results. Hoping for a positive outcome.

I also like the style of these two vehicles. I was seriously looking at the Edge ST when I first saw a new Nautilus in the lot. The clean understated lines of the vehicle won me over. I would have considered an Edge Titanium but the interior and the 4 cylinder were a deal breaker. Ultimately the end goal is to make the choice that best satisfies your needs and tastes.

I wonder if removing the gear was a cost savings or performance decision, possibly both? I noticed the Nautilus keeps the 8 speed for 2021. I would have been fine with a 7 speed.

Welcome to the forum Ian P. Excellent knowledge base here with ''hands on'' helpful members.

I see someone has a background in drafting/plan making. ?

I was just offering relevant information rather than just being argumentative and not offering anything useful.

Cut and paste from my 2012 Mustang owner's manual which came from the factory with the orange coolant.

This is the first article I found doing a Google search. I think you'll find everything you need to do a proper oil change on your fathers Edge. 2015 - 2019 Edge Oil Change Guide. PS. I use a torque wrench all the time if there is a torque specification available. 45 years of wrenching has taught me that its a good habit to get into.
