  1. Daily trip to work is to start car and let run for a minute or so to get the idle to step down a hair. Then about 1/2 mile out to the main 2 lane highway that I pull onto and speed up to 65 mph if I am not behind someone, hold 55-65 for about 4 miles then turn left onto another road and cruise down it around 65mph for about 1to 1.5 miles then take a right and back up to 55-65 for a few miles and into a 30mph zone for about 1/2 mile and turn into work. Car is putting heat out by the time I hit the first 2 lane road and fully warm a minute or 2 into that part of the trip. This is at 7 am, at 10:30am I come home to let the puppy out and then back to work, then come home at 3:30pm. Trip is about 10 minutes one way. I figure with that I should get close to at least city mileage out of the deal. I got that with the Focus ST driving it harder and my 2007 Fusion Sport AWD V-6 I had before that. Sadly when I first got it and ran 87 and was driving it the same way I got 15-16 mpg. Best I have got since I started keeping track was 15mpg for one tank and then down from there. That was only 7 tanks ago so 1200 miles maybe, I have 2600 on it now and have been running 93 the last 4 tanks.
  2. I have had the can't seem to either find the gear or what gear it wants deal several times. Just like it goes to shift and then just pauses and then finds the gear, it is like a 1-2 second delay which does not sound like a lot but it is, especially since I got rid of a Focus ST for this and if I had a delay in shifting that it was because I caused it, lol. Also sometimes it does not downshift far enough when say going to turn onto another road, it is a supposed to be sporty not stay in gear and not downshift when floored, I know it can drop a gear more since if I paddle shift down it hits the right one. In Sport mode it does it but in regular it seems to be to lazy to shift. I do not like Sport mode all the time because when you let off the gas after say accelerating from a stop to about 75 it just hangs there at high RPM's and does not shift until you push the gas down again to let it know you are cruising at that speed. I like the throttle response of Sport mode but it just sucks to be a daily driving position. It is like you are supposed to hit the button to have fun then click it off when you get to cruising speed. The transmission also picks when it wants 8th gear on its own and will not let you pick it at say 65mph cruising speed. Sometimes it shifts to 8th and others it sits in 7th, same road every time. Hopefully this is just a software update to fix some of these or change them. For a supposed sport tuned transmission it sucks, I mean I assume they tweaked the software for the ST.
  3. Haha. I am the one and only IT guy at the small district so no ticketing crap. I just by default read my emails but it is in no way expected after hours by the current Admin. Anyway, I am with you on letter the little lady try it with her phone and see if you liked it or if it is even worth the effort of going to the dark side just for a cleaner look and less buttons to push to get to the Sync screens. I mean you can access the radio and phone screens on the right hand display and if you changed it with FORscan I hear you can get the climate controls there as well. Personally when I have the phone plugged in using CarPlay it is just because I do not have Nav and need directions. I do not keep music on my phone and do not spend enough time listening to Music Apps on the phone. I did like being able to use App on my Android without needing to have the phone plugged in with my Focus ST and updated Sync3, I had a 2016 so I had to manually update Sync to enable it and eventually buy a new USB hub to get CarPlay to work. The phone did not support Android Auto but it did do the music apps like Pandora via bluetooth and controlled by the Sync touchscreen. Apple is not so nice and easy and needs to be wired which I find to be a flaw. Oh well, got off the beaten path there. Lol!
  4. To be honest I have always like Android and had a hatred for all things Apple, I work in IT for a school so they irritate me. Anyway I get a phone as part of my employment and quite honestly have not bought my own in over 20 years. So my Samsung broke and needed an update anyhow and they decided all employee phones should be iPhone 6S Plus models. To be honest I now love the damn thing. It was honestly so easy to switch to the new phone it is scary, just install an app on the old android and it transfers everything for you. And of course Apple CarPlay is pretty and works like a charm. My old Samsung was not Android Auto capable so I can not compare other than the pictures I have seen. Come to the Dark Side!!!!! Lol.
  5. CarPlay just has a Sync button and you can flip back and forth easily with no confirmation. It treats Sync like it is one of the Apps. Pretty smooth going between the phone and Sync.
  6. I assume it would need the new wheel plus probably clock spring for the wiring, probably not in there or some stupid crap. Then programmed in FORscan and maybe a module. Anything can be done if you want to pay for the parts.
  7. That is probably why Nav is stuck in the packages now instead of an add on. It is also why I opted out of spending the money on the 401a package. The only thing I would have liked out of that package would have been the adaptive headlights and the front camera, but the headlights don't seem to work anyway. I had them on my Focus and liked them but they were not a selling point. But I did not need or want NAV nor do I need the car to park itself or have the cruise slow down and all that crap. No passengers in the rear to care about the heated seats. I would have liked the roof I guess. Anyway I just use my CarPlay for directions. SO yeah I do not expect Ford to be updating Maps all the time if ever really. They should just let you tie the Nav into Google Maps and update the maps via WiFi from them. Just somehow license with Google and be done. People could get the latest maps if they want or keep the one that came with the car.
  8. I have taken a highway cruise set at 75 for 140 miles an reset Trip 1 and got 24mpg according to that meter until I got back and started driving around normal. For that tank I got 18.1mpg, the two before it were 15.2 and 14.0 then after it 13.9 and 13.8. Those first two were on 87 octane gas and the rest 93. I reset my main MPG when I got it and it stands at 16.3 right now which I find off since that one trip is all the driving on a highway for more than 5-10 minutes I have driven in the 2400 miles since I bought it and I have no idea of what the first 200 miles were driven like, Trip 2 has that number and it is at 16.4 right now. So I am leery on trusting the computer compared to the math. Either way it is not even close to the rated 19 City and most of my driving is not even in a city type environment of stop and go traffic. I am waiting until it warms up more but I do not see it getting that much better. The reason I started this thread was to see what other are getting to compare so I can see if maybe there is some strange issue or if it is normal. Seems so far not to be to normal. If I wanted 14mpg I would have just bought an F-150. I would have expected closer to the 19, like 17 or 18 because I drive like I feel it should be driven for a 'Sport' vehicle. But still I babied it for one tank and drove it like I normally would for the last and got the same mileage. I mentioned the .1 down because that is all it did worse driving it like I want instead of like an old lady. Like I said I got closer to city mileage on a tuned Focus ST flooring it more on the same drive I take now. So it is strange that I can not do better by not flooring it so much.
  9. So I filled again today. I got 13.8 on this tank, so down from 13.9 last week. It said I had 30 miles to empty when I filled yet only took 14.3 gallons. I tried a few times more to make sure it was full and not just an air pocket. I would think I would need more considering it is an 18.5 gallon tank. So last fillup I got 197 miles out of the tank. Yeah it is still cold here but it has warmed up some and is closer to the 30-40 range with a high last week of 60 on one day. Certainly not the sub zero tremps it has been and I am not letting it warm up just remote start it a minute or so before I go out the door to let it idle for a minute to get the idle to step down a hair. I am not even sure what could possibly be wrong if anything, since it seems to be running fine. I get some strange shifts now an then from this transmission not seeming to know what to do. I have tried gas from a different station for the last two fills and switched to 93 instead of 87 so it is a little disappointing that my numbers seem to be going down since I started logging.
  10. I drove mine like I normally would duri0ng the 'breakin' period. The boost definately was lower, during the first 5-600 miles, I would peak but drop instantly to around 10-12 psi. Then at around 1000 miles it would hit 19 and drop to 16 and stay there for the most part in the cold. Today while driving hard I saw it hold 17-18 psi in roughly 45+ degree weather. It now has 2600 miles on it. So it seems at least for the first 1000 miles it lowers boost. I assume it is gettign higher now since the temps are up and it needs more boost to make its torque target like other Ecoboost's. Lower boost in cold because of denser colder air. I also notice that the stock IC is crap and heat soaked on one pull adding at least 30 degrees to the charge air temp. I saw that in the FORScan app. My Focus ST will a Depo son of beast IC charge air temp would rise maybe 4-5 degrees on a pull up to 120MPH going full bore at 23.8 psi peak boost. Anyway, after the first 1000 miles this baby has come alive more than when new and it is nice.
  11. I started with 87 for a few tanks and then switched to 93 to see if it would help at all as well as for better performance. You can tell the difference and that the timing is advanced more with the 93 since it will knock less. I am well aware that the Ecoboosts like 93 and run more advanced timing with it and planned to switch anyhow. This tank seems to be going better with me driving it more aggressively. I have a quarter tank left so I will fill up tomorrow or Saturday and see what the app says. Funny because I never really paid attention or cared but thought this would get better mileage than I am getting.
  12. It says Top Tier on the pumps and I would see no reason why it would be any worse than the rest. Gas all comes from the same pipes and only has whatever additive package added depending on whose name is on the pumps. Chevron does not have their own pipeline going all over the country to get to a tuck close to your pumps. Lol!!! As for bobyellow, thanks I know that I wait for the next fuel up because I calculate the exact mileage I am getting because I always fill it and never just put some in. And I started tracking it via an app instead of going by the instant mileage. I do not reset the main one ever because I was the mileage for the life of the vehicle. I use trip 1 for the life. Trip 2 if I want to know a drive, like the highway trip I took. And the instant gauge one I reset when I got it, since it had 200 miles on it. Since I have had it the mileage is at 16.4 and only when up from 15.8 after the 140 miles highway trip, it went up to 18.5 and has dropped to 16.4 over the last 2 weeks. I am sure it will keep going down. Who knows. Maybe it is the cold and the winter gas as I have said but my tuned Focus ST got pretty much the city rating and I drove it like I was running from the Police most of the time. Full boost every time I could do it. Ended a 3 year run with 23-24 mpg, it reset after the battery needed troi be disconnected to replace the wiring harness due to animal damage.
  13. I have used both 87 and 93 octane. Seems to actually be lower with 93 to be honest. I will find out on Friday or Saturday when I fill up again and see what this last tank gets with me driving it like I normally would and not trying to get good mileage what so ever. Plus this tank came from a Sunoco station instead of Valero where I normally fill up since it is 20+ cents a gallon cheaper at Valero. They were out of 93 on the day last filled up.
  14. I wish you could get the boost gauge to show on the right hand side of the display like the radio and phone. I really see no need for either of them to be there since they are on the Sync Display unless you have the Nav screen up. So it would be nice to put that up there as an option. Also would be nice if the approach lighting would activate when walking up like a Lincoln does.
  15. From new it says 16.4 with 2500 on the clock. First 200 was before I bought it. According to the Fuely app I am getting 15.3 since I started using it. That is with the 140 mile round trip all highway cruise set at 75 where I averaged 18.3 that tank. I just hope it gets better since that low of 13.9 was me 'babying' it, at least for my driving style. Lol!
  16. That's what bothers me. Mine is about 10 miles one way. Mostly at 55-65 but there are two times I turn off and have to accelerate back to speed. I tried nice and easy and am not returning to driving it like I want to. I got better mileage that way compared to driving it easy. I really do not care I just wish it was higher or closer to at least the city mileage. If driving it mostly at 55-65 MPH gets worse mileage than city I would hate to see what it gets if I was actually doing stop and go all mile drive. Maybe it is the cold, maybe the winter blend gas, maybe I just am expecting to much. I just figured it would be better than 14mpg it seems to be getting on my weekly work commute. I drove my Focus ST like I was driving a sports car and running from a cop and I got the 23-24 mpg. almost what the city rating is. I was constantly in boost with that and the last 6 months it was tuned and I was pushing 23- 24 psi max boost. And I would try to hit that number on every shift. Oh well just was wondering what others were getting and it seems mine just sucks.
  17. I have had Sirius since they started in pretty much every vehicle since then. If you threaten to cancel at every renewal or cancel just before renewal, 5 or 6 month intervals, then you get a deal. I pay $29 to $35 every 5 to 6 months, for that period, just by giving them a call and telling them I really only listen to a few channels on my ride to work and back every day and hear the same songs everytime so it is not worth the standard $15-$20 a month so if I do not get a better deal then I see no need to keep it. They suggest the plan for $5 a month and charge my card on file and I am on my way. Crappy that you need to actually call them for this and can no do it online but oh well. I have not paid full price since after like the first year or two I had it almost 20 years ago. My parents do the same thing on their cars. You just need to make sure you try to cancel before it auto renews and charges your card again. I get emails so I know when the 'promotion' ends and I need to call again. If they do autocharge it then you call and they refund and give you the 'deal'. My mom has to do this because she always forgets. Good luck.
  18. If it is anything like the 2019 then it is against the firewall to the left of the brake pedal and faces the brake pedal instead of the dash so you can barely see it with that cover removed. Strange since that cover is so big and really they could have done without it since you can't really see anything without getting under the dash.
  19. Nice. I got a whopping 13.9 mpg this last tank, and I was driving it nicely for the week with very few flooring episodes and mild acceleration most of the time. Seems to be worse the nicer I treat it. From now on I am just going to drive it like a Sporty vehicle should be driven. Sadly I just wish now it would friggin get 16 mpg, I give up on ever seeing 19 or anywhere near 20. I guess it is good it is an 18 gallon tank so I can get at least 240-250 miles a tank.
  20. Oh I figured as much. Like I said I would be happy with 17 let alone 18. I did not expect anything near the 20's unless I was on the highway a lot more. Of course now it has developed some sort of stutter in the transmission. Like with light gas it wants to downshift but is not and the tach looks like it is vibrating up and down when it happens. And some delay when trying to move at times. I will see what that is about, if it does not work itself out. I figure the transmission is now confused since it spent an hour in the same gear on the trip down and then on the way back. Maybe I just miss shifting and picking the gear I want to be in.
  21. I am just hoping it is the winter blend gas, Probably never really noticed in the Focus because I leased that in the summer so the mileage went up and I never really noticed a severe drop. I mean I do not expect the EPA measurements but closer to them would be nice. I had the tank before only get 14mpg and that is sad. I would be happy with a solid 17+ for my driving style. Then again my mothers MKC at 2.5 years old only averages 20.6 according to the computer, it is a 2.3T. And dad's 2 year old Escape 2.0T averages 22 on the computer, but he drives a lot of hills between home and work. Strangely my brothers 4x4 F150 2.7TT averages 18.7 on his computer with 10,000 miles on it and he drives mixed driving. Maybe it will get better and it is just me driving more agressive because I just got it and am coming from a Focus ST with a few little upgrades and a tune. I do not mind the spending money on gas it is more the 18.5 gallon tank only making it 5-6 days instead of a full week or more. Heck the Focus 11.5 gallon tank made it a week.
  22. Check to see if those are really metal frame pieces in the sides. In the Focus ST Recaro seats quite a few people on the Forums did not like to side bolsters as they were to tight for anyone but a skinny person. They took the covers off and removed the plastic forms that were in the cushions or in some case replaced the cushions to make them more comfortable. I doubt there are metal forms in the seats as they probably use the same frame throughout the Edge lineup and I know my ST seats are more bolstered than the SEL I test drove and the rest of the seats look identical except the bolstering. And coming from the Focus ST recaro's I actually wish these had a little more bolster on the sides, but I am 5'7" and 155lbs so I am kinda small framed. Lol. So you may be able to make some adjustments to the bolsters and retain all the heating and cooling and same look of the seat and not cost money. Of course if you are not the type that wants to mess with an upholstery person would.
  23. I got a whopping 23.4 MPG on a 140 mile round trip with the cruise set at 75 the whole time. Brought that tank of gas up to a whopping 18.1 and the trip was ~50% of that tank. Still seems to low no matter how much a lead foot I have at times.
  24. I find this new transmission a little sluggish and at times even in D mode does not like to downshift enough gears. Like when turning from one road to another, not in the city, and it just picks a gear and you floor it and it does not kick down an extra gear. Sure it is a TT motor and has power but it is an ST and I want to go quick not just stay in gear because the motor can power through it. It also seems to just randomly use 8th gear at 65MPH, sometimes it shifts to 8th on a flat road and other times it stays in 7th. And using the paddles does nothing it just flashes the 7 and stays there. Eventually after 1 minute or so of driving it will decide to shift and other times just stay there. I can not figure out the reasons for this since it is a flat road I drive daily. It has 2000 miles on it and when I take it in for an oil change I will mention it but it is weird. Heck the stupid thing got 14mpg last tank and 15 the tank before. I do accelerate quickly a bit but I expect closer to city rating considering 75% of my daily drives are at 55-65MPH. Heck I drove my Focus ST like I was running from the cops and still managed 23 MPG.
