  1. I have a 2024 ST and here are few things I can say. In 21 they went to the bigger touchscreen (sync 4) which is kind of game changer. The navigation screen is awesome! I got the 401A package which gave me the sunroof and heated seats/steering wheel. I have gotten spoiled the heated steering wheel for sure. I did get the performance brake and tire package which is great because you get the bigger calipers and rotors. The only issue is they come (only) with summer tires which work good for where I live, but not good in your climate. They should offer that package with a few different tire options, but they don't. Also, in 21 they went to a 7-speed transmission (via programming) and helps with the performance. I drove both and the 7 speed is an improvement. Hope some of this helps.
  2. Sounds like you have 'courtesy wipe' turned on. Go into your vehicle settings and turn it off.
  3. Sounds like we are hearing the same sound. A clicking/popping metallic sound that is random, but definitely more active when you hit bumps in the road. One thing I noticed, when it is cold outside and the car sits overnight, the sound doesn't start until the car warms up in the sun and in the cabin. I too have no faith in my dealer and plan on fixing it myself. I am taking the car in for routine service, and I am going to tell the service writer about the issue. I am going to ask if there are any service bulletins and or TST's regarding this. I also plan on sitting in the back seat and having someone else drive, to help verify where the noise is coming from. Amazing how something like a small clip can cause so much headache. I am wondering if it could be the bar itself moving when there is flexing in this area? Also I saw a video where the headliner is very easy to release to gain more access to that area. It uses a series of clips and magnets to hold the headliner in place.
  4. GTEyes, You and I both have 2024's and I didn't know if you had time to see if it was in fact the clip/bar. I'm going to look at mine this weekend and try to verify. I keep everyone posted. Thanks everyone for all the great info/help!
  5. Well, I traded my 21 in for a 2024 ST and after about 5300 miles I am hearing the clicking/ticking/popping sound so many of you described. Could anyone provide me a better description of where that bar is located? I did see the great pictures (and fix) provided by EdgeST2020 but just wanted to verify the location of that bar. Thanks so much! I know taking it to the dealer would just be a waste of time, so I will fix it myself.
  6. There are too many different forum choices, but I think picked the right one. I have a 2024 Edge St. I have about 5500 miles. At about 3500 miles I noticed a faint metallic speaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. I noticed it only happened about 65 mph or higher, so I thought it was from the wind. It started get worse, louder and at a slower speed, I had someone drive while I sat in the back seat behind the driver. At around 55 mph I start to hear this squeak (metal on metal). I have narrowed it down to coming from the vent above the rear left wheel well in the cargo storage area. I believe I can take out my cargo cover (where it clips in) and remove the vent, but it looks like I will eventually have to remove the driver side rear cargo area trim side cover. I was wondering if anyone has had this. It does seem to be related to speed and possibly wind as it only happens at higher speeds and the bumps in the road don't seem to be the issue. Thanks to all for any ideas. Jim As most of you know taking it to the dealer would be a waste of time as they hate to look for squeaks and rattles. Even under warranty.
  7. I believe everything is normal. In freezing weather, the system is incapable of making the seats cooler (it would be ineffective) and would not activate. It makes sense. When I turn mine on, the fan speed runs faster on the high setting and slower on the low setting. It seems to be constant. The cooling system is definitely TED that's why it gets cold so fast. The fan is only used for cooling and there is no fan with heating. There are so many posts to this thread so I didn't read too far back but hope this helps.
  8. I use the adaptive cruise control and lane centering quite often. I turn off the lane keeping system when I do this. The lane centering system and lane keeping system are two totally different systems with different responses and alerts. That being said. When I am using the adaptive cruise control with the lane centering system activated, it is not uncommon for me to get an alert when the system loses track of the lanes. There is also a green to orange/ yellow color change letting me know what is going on (left or right lane). Depending on where I am driving and the road conditions this system will constantly alert you to let you know it has lost a reading of the left or right lane. There are so many posts to this thread, so I didn't read very far back but you can use the adaptive cruise control with the lane centering off and lane keeping on. That being said either system will send an alert when it loses track of the lanes. This alert seems to be more frequent when the cruise control is active. I forgot to mention a have a 2024 ST as well.

    Spare Tire?

About a third of today's vehicles no longer have a spare tire. This is done to reduce cost, increase storage space and reduce weight. I believe about 90 percent of today's generation couldn't change a spare tire anyway! I might be wrong on the percentage (it could be higher!). Mine ST came with a pretty high-tech inflator/sealer to substitute the lack of spare. It looks like it would work great for a screw or nail. But anything beyond that I have to get towed. Bummer. I wonder if they make a 21-inch donut??? 😏
  10. Did you get the optional performance brake and tire package. If you did, hills will not be an issue. In my opinion the ST should come standard with the oversized brake pads and rotors. If they are going to give it an ST badge, give it everything it needs. The 21-inch Perelli P ZERO tires should still be and option though as they are a summer tire.

    Spare Tire?

The performance brake and tire package brings out the best in the ST for sure. I live in warmer climate so it would have been a performance let down without it. As long as the donut spare is the same diameter (21 inches) you should be fine. I believe running a different size spare could cause damage to the all-wheel drive system. Not sure on that though.

    Spare Tire?

Rchalk, I too got the performance brake and tire package. No, you should not have a spare, but you should have a tire inflator/sealer kit in its place. Mine came with one. Kind of a bummer to not have a spare, but the performance and handling gained by the upgrade make it worth it. My opinion.
  13. I ordered my 2024 ST with the tow package. I would think you could somehow find out the components, maybe even part numbers for the plug assy. I would guess there is a plug somewhere tucked in to plug the harness into. Try to avoid aftermarket unless you have no choice.
  14. My key fob seems to work great. I used it a few times just to try it out but realized I really had no use for it. Years of training (and instinct) have taught me to always have a free hand even when my hands are full!😁
  15. The clicking noise is most likely a relay. I would see if you can figure out what relay it is and go from there.
  16. I don't have an answer other than sometimes aftermarket products do not produce the same results as OEM. I have always felt that some aftermarket products are better than OEM, but most are not. Contact the manufacturer and maybe they have had similar complaints and know what the fix is.
  17. Replicator. Those 2 plugs are where the COOLANT hoses would hook up to circulate coolant through the cooler. So, no you cannot drain the ptu fluid by removing the caps. Looks like that was during the transition stage to the liquid cooled ptu system. From 2019 on they also added a cooler and an electric motor that would circulate coolant through the ptu to help with heat. I verified this on my 2021 ST. I just traded in for a 2024 and the PTU system identical. I also found that when you shut the car off, this electric motor continues to run for a few minutes, circulating coolant through the ptu, to help with heat soak. The newer style also have a temperature sensor install where the fill would be. All I can say is if they are using HOT coolant to help with the ptu failures, these things must be getting hot!
  18. Are you topping it off? Apparently, that is not good.
  19. First, a big thank you to Haz for the PDF. It looks like the 2.7 uses a different ptu (known as the 'high torque' model) even though they look the same. I did notice they have added a heat shield, drain plug and temp. sender. I don't see a fill plug, but I am guessing you remove the temperature sender to achieve this. I also see the cooler which routes (hot) coolant through the ptu via hoses and an electric motor to circulate the coolant through the ptu cooler. My observation-when you shut the vehicle off, the electric motor continues to run for a few minutes. I am guessing this helps with heat soak? This thing must really get hot if they are using hot coolant to keep the temperature down. What I don't understand is how Ford would wait until the last 2 years of production to finally make these improvements (the pdf applies to the 22-24 edge). It took all those failures for Ford to finally wake up? Sad. .
  20. What an informative video. They fixed what Ford overlooked, or just didn't care about reliability and longevity. I have the 2024 St does anyone know if this ptu is the same as my vehicle or have they made any changes from this ptu?
  21. I was fortunate enough to attend the Ford ST/SUV Experience in Park City Utah this past year. One of the courses was the dummy car stopped in front of me. You would accelerate to about 25 mph and take your foot off the gas and brake pedal at pre-determined marker and the system would activate with a warning and slam on the brakes before you hit the dummy car. Pretty amazing.
  22. I wonder if this would be covered under warranty if the vehicle was still in the warranty period or had an extended warranty?
  23. Sounds like something set it off. Since you have a 22 and it is a safety/liability issue, take it in and tell them your story. Could it have been something you didn't see? like an animal or obstacle in the road? Or maybe a bad sensor. Maybe there will be a code stored in the ECU. It may not be perfect but one day it could save your life for sure. I have my pre collision warning set to the highest setting, and it has saved me on more than one occasion. Luckily, I reacted before the Evasive Assist took action.
  24. I too would pass on a rental/lease. I have had a lot of rentals over the years and although I was never overly abusive, I know that during the rental life of the vehicle, there were people who were. Some people just don't care. I also feel that rental companies are far from proactive on maintenance. I am sure that they pushed the boundaries of the scheduled maintenance. On more than one occasion I would get a rental with the low tire or oil change reminder alert. Stay Clear!
  25. Will2U hit the nail on the head. Sync 4 does weird stuff. Most of it is relatively minor, but still irritating. Mine will occasionally lock up, phone calls have no voice or very static. At least the sound system comes back to what you had on before. Be thankful for that, I guess. Way too much crap on these new cars for sure. Too many modules! It would be nice if they kept the Navigation, music and phone all separate instead of merging everything together.
