  1. I currently have the Toyo Versado CUV 245/60R18 on my 2009 and liked them better then the stock Michelin Latitude Tour HP's that came OE. I also need new tires and would like to save some cash mainly care about a smooth/quite ride with good winter traction. If you go to Tire Rack and look at their cheapest tire for the Edge, it is a "SUMITOMO HTR A/S P02 High Performance All-Season" tire that is highly rated and a best seller at $97.23 each. Does anyone have these and can comment on them? Note, I have 60K miles on my Toyo's (they are only rated a 50K tire), and they need to be changed.
  2. A family member has a 2008 AWD MKX with 20" (Pirelli Scorpions?). I have a 2009 AWD Edge Limited with 18" with some type of Toyo's. The MKX has about 60K miles, mine has 180K and drives much smoother. I have stayed away from looking at Edge's with the larger wheels because my perception was the bigger wheels may give it a harsher ride. I'm glad this was posted, others seem to be confirming the same.
  3. I have a 2009 Limited AWD with 180,000 miles. In the last few weeks, the antilock are going off on dry pavement with firm (not super hard) braking. It doesn’t happen all the time. Today I was driving about 40mph (and not braking) and the ABS light went on. I looked down about 20 second later and the stability light was on as well as the wrench light. I stopped at a store, started again, and only the wrench light was on. Now all are off. I had similar issues a few years back going 80mhp. Turned out a “toner” (I know I have the wrong name for it) ring was cracked (the ring the abs sensors read on each wheel). When I would go fast enough, all lights came on and would all go off when I slowed down. Anyhow, my guess is I have a ring or sensor issue. I know the ODBII reader won’t tell me which wheel is having the issue. Anyway to tell without taking it to the dealer? Thoughts? Do any of the auto stores read these codes? Mac, throw me a bone here.
  4. I have the similar one to this for the smaller iPhone 6. Seems to be a much simpler design. Phone can be installed and removed with one hand. http://www.amazon.com/Kenu-Airframe-Mount-Smartphones-Phablets/dp/B00LU5LWQK/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1464261400&sr=1-2&keywords=car+mount&refinements=p_89%3AKenu
  5. Welcome! Regarding the tires, I agree with WWWPerfA_ZN0W. I have a 2009 Limited AWD with 180,000 miles. It has been great. Enjoy it!
  6. I am keeping my eye on this thread. I have a 2009 AWD with 176,000 miles. When I go up an incline around 50ish, is when it does it. Only does it a few times a month (not a huge deal to m). I had an old Taurus with the 3.0 24V that did the same thing that I would have sworn had a transmission issue. The tranny shop said nope, check plugs, etc. Yep, it was a coil/plug/wire issue. My edge sure feels like a transmission issue, but I watch the tach and it doesn't change. Feels like the Taurus did. My guess is I have a coil issue. Looking for any further info from the rest of you as you work on this. Note, my plugs were changed at 115K with factory original Motorcraft plugs.
  7. My guess would be a coil issues as well. They were all handled when the plugs were replaced. When you pulled the plugs you moved a couple yet again, and it seemed to go away. If you are going to throw parts at it, try replacing the two you touched. I have replaced a number of plugs on different vehicles in the past 5 years and the gaps were all correct.
  8. Hey Nepats25, Were you able to do this without removing anything (i.e. just using the fill and drain holes)? I have a 2009 and I would like to do the same.
  9. I would try a new battery regardless of how it tested (unless I missed where you stated it was already replaced). In today's cars, I have noticed the most odd behavior when the battery is not 100% or has a manufacturing defect.. Odd things not working or acting totally strange.
  10. Agreed, I am at 170,000+ miles and it would be good to hear from different people in this category.
  11. No need to remove them, unless you are sure they are leaking. The way that mine installed is they are a single plastic piece that push through the top of the hood. Plastic feet spread out underneath to hold it in place. You can take pliers and squeeze the feet back together and push it back through the top of the hood to remove them. You may have to remove a piece of hood insulation that is on the underside of the hood to get to them. It is usually held in place by plastic clips. Note, you may break some clips but your local auto store will have them as well as the dealer.
  12. Matthew, Lift your hood and have someone do the front washers. I had to replace the plastic inserts mounted in the hood on my 2009 (one broke somehow - actually rotted and became brittle and broke). Now, having typed this, I see you have a 2013. I am not sure if you have the same setup as mine.
  13. I had the exact same symptom and same solution on my right front. Yes, the ring is connected to the shaft somehow so everything needed to be replaced. 2009 AWD Edge. Mine happened at about 130,000 miles.
  14. I had a Ford Taurus that I could swear was having tranny issues like you say. I took to a transmission shop and they said it was fine and was likely my plugs or wires. Sure enough, I replaced them and all was fine. I have a 2009 Edge that I replaced the plugs at 115,000 and the gap was very large on them. I would suggest doing the plugs. They need it anyhow and that might solve your "slipping" problem.
  15. I have 2009 Edge Limited with the high end audio unit. It cranks! I can't tell you how happy I am with it. I have been looking at purchasing a 2013 SEL without the Sony system (whatever is just beneath the Sony system). I am worried I will be greatly disappointed. It does have navigation, but not the Sony sound. Can anyone tell me how many speakers are in this 2013 system and where they are located? Does anyone have that unit and can tell me what they think. (I have not been able to drive the 2013 yet that I speak of).
  16. macbwt, If you remember, I asked you about the internal storage you had in your new Edges. Basically you confirmed they removed the cubby in front of the shifter and possibly the one that sat on top of the dash like my 2009 has (and the Orange Crush had). I know you have two "new" 2011s. Well, I was at the dealership off hours and a used 2013 was open on the lot and I got inside and was actually able to see for myself what was on this model years. Yes, the cubby's are gone but they have added a hidden cubby under the dash material just in front of the shifter. You can actually reach it from both sides. Yes, it can hold items, but you can't see what is in there (you have to do everything by feel) without getting out and getting on your hands and knees and looking. I am thinking about getting a newer Edge but this has me looking at other vehicles (Equinox - I know, I know...). Anyhow, does yours have it? If yes, comments on it's use?
  17. My 09 only goes up to 3/4 full upon fill up. When it gets to the 50 mile warning, it has about 120 miles to go until empty. Started doing it one day and has not stopped. Not sure what the issue is.
  18. Frank, no, it is not what you attached a picture of. In my 2009 it is a metal seat support that connects to the floor and the bottom of the seat. It supports the seat.
  19. I didn't read the full attached link, but for your second rattle (squeak) check the support coming up from the floor going to the seat in the back (mine was on passenger side). Mine would squeak at times and it drove me crazy. I finally found it by getting back there and slamming my fist into the seat it would make the sound.. I sprayed WD-40 where the brace connected to another one. That fixes it for close to a year.
  20. macbwt, Now that you have switched from an 08 to an 11, do you miss the "storage area/tray" in the center console? I am not talking about what is under the armrest. I am referring to what was in front of the shifter/cup holders? Am I missing some new replacement for this? When I typically get int the car I used to throw wallet, glasses, cell phone in that area (cup holders are usually full of drinks. Comments?
  21. Try holding the up/down buttons on the steering wheel a little longer and then releasing. I guess I haven't tried it on Sirius that I remember, but normal AM/FM works like this: Press and release and you get the next preset. Press (hold for a second) and release, and it searches for the next strong station. I wonder if doing that on Sirius gets you the next station.
  22. Surprised you haven't named the two as of yet. Orange Crush was a great name (i.e. Cinnamon Stick, Blue Moon, etc...) Maybe a job for MercyGirl.
  23. I would remove the new bulb and check the inside of the socket and make sure it is still in tact and make sure the terminals are clean that touch the wires on the bulb. I always take some fine sand paper and clean them off to make a clean connection again.
  24. macbwt, Have you posted anywhere a list with dates/mileage/item/cost of the things you have fixed/replaced (maybe a link to a "read only" spreadsheet in a dropbox area)? That would be real helpful for those of us hanging on to our edges for a while. Might give us some insight on what what to expect and when. It would also be real helpful if we are planning to get rid of ours (i.e. costly repairs coming). I have a 2009 with 160,000 on it now. I am thinking on keeping it for at least another few years (~200,000). Reviewing your list might help determine if I want to get rid of it earlier or keep it longer. Thanks!
  25. And with it's shorter wheel base, you should be able to "turn it all about"....
