Advice on shining up the grill on my Edge
JOEHIO replied to Minoan212's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Odd that you have chips at 20,000 miles. My '06 explorer was 6 years old when I sold it, and no chips what so ever. I did keep the truck, especially the fron end, well waxed, maybe that helped. -
Ask A Professional Detailer?
JOEHIO replied to CanuckG35's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Wash when cool, in the shade. I use Meguires car wash, never had water spot problems, even on my wifes cinnamon (dark) MKS. For the center stack, try using Pledge furniture polish with a microfiber cloth. Not only works well on furiture, but also on plastics. :banvictory: -
Advice on shining up the grill on my Edge
JOEHIO replied to Minoan212's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
No metal polish on chromed plastic, use regular wax, or synthetic, if dirt is embedded, try using a wax with a mild cleaner in it. Meguires has a wax with a cleaner, works pretty good. -
Hey Rob, I was only busting your chops when I said you 'settled on' the Edge. Smart move with the premium care warranty, some say it's a waste of money, I say it's a gamble, like term life Insurance. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. My previous ride was a '06 Explorer Limited. Was a great truck, but in the last 9 months of ownership, the extended warranty covered over $4,000 in repairs - wheel bearing, axle, wiring harness, and more. I was grateful for having taken the warranty when I bought it. Check with the dealer before doing any mods, so you don't screw yourself with the warranty. Joe

Congrats on your new Edge, welcome to the Forum, and you and your wife DIDN'T settle on the Edge, it was your SMART decision. Have my MKX 9 months, so far, has been sweet. I don't know how much you will gain with a superchip & cold-air intake, gotta be careful no to void your warranty with mods. Joe

AdvancedTrak display on left hand dash screen.
JOEHIO replied to Tacyon's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Yeah, mee too! I hope that this winter is better than last year. The only snow we got last year was right before Halloween, anf that was mostly ice. Need to see how the MKX (awd) handles in snow. Maybe I'll have to go visit friends out in Ohio. -
akirby, I agree with you 150%, safety comes first. While "tints" may look cool, they really do reduce visability. Ever get it in the ass because your lights couldn't be seen - "ouch" !

I've tried to pm members here in Jersey, but no one seems interested in starting clubs or meets !

Nine months, and all fine with my MKX's bumper.

Just received Septembers issue of Motor Trend in the mail today, and they did a review on the 2013 Cadillac XTS. Here is what they had to say about Cadillacs CUE system- "I give the system a 'B". It's not as good as BMW's iDrive, or even Fords always evolving Sync. The screen is dark, with an almost black background. Cadillac claims that's the way the CUE engineers wanted it to appear. When you're looking at a map, it's almost ominous. As for the haptic controls, there's a very minor-but annoying-delay. Your initial reaction is that your touch didn't register, so you tap it twice, but the screen has already changed and now you've selected something you didn't want, and now you're looking for a back button, which very well may have moved across the screen". Soooooo, maybe Sync isn't that bad after all ! Joe

Amen to that, glad it has been taken care of for you.

please, my wife is a teacher, and she is always correcting my grammer, she could give me a break (or is that brake) already !

When I had the Magellan, it had me make the "first legal u-turn", with factory nav's in our MKS & MKX, it just recalculates.
-
Welcome, congrats on your "X", and many happy motoring miles with it. All I can suggest, is just keep up with scheduled maintenance. Not sure about factory nav, but I think that there have been posts on this topic in the forum.

"No Key Detected" and Car Won't Start
JOEHIO replied to Shockwavesix's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Yup, that's me too, phone on left, fob on right. -
How old is your Edge, is it new, or still under warranty? Don't know of anyone else having this problem. Hope you find the problem soon.
-
Had 4 wheel drive Explorers and now my AWD MKX. Never had a problem because I took it slow in snow. Hell,I had rear wheel drive cars years ago, and got around. Safe driving.

"No Key Detected" and Car Won't Start
JOEHIO replied to Shockwavesix's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Maybe on 2 or 3 occasions in the 9 months that I own my MKX, i have gotten the message about no FOB, and, on each occurance, it was because my cell phone was in front of the key fob in my pocket. Just rearranged it, and all was fine. -
Welcome aboard, congrat's on your Edge, and glad you finally joined the forum. I would go back to the dealer with your paint issues, and get it documented. With leases, they allow for some wear and minor dings, but play the safe game, and have the dealer check it out. Joe

Not sure how it would work on scrapes, why not check out their website - WWW.DRCOLORCHIP.COM

What Color (Colour) is your Ford Edge or MKX?
JOEHIO replied to Edge Guide's topic in Exterior & Body
Ingot silver. Heck of a lot easier to keep clean than the wife's cinnamon MKS.
