Welcome aboard, and enjoy your Edge.

Welcome to the Forum, Jason, and congrat's on your Edge Sport. I have a '12 MKX, which I got November of 2011, and am loving it. Happy with the 3.7 engine, not bad with gas, 17 mpg's around town (can get higher if I baby it) and highway with cruise on at 65 mph is giving me 25.3 to 25.7 mpg's.

I'm sure that Richy is referring to the redesigned MKZ, and is curious what Ford will do when they redesign the MKX, which he and I currently drive. The new MKZ is supposed to ride on a 112" wheelbase, S/B close to the MKS with interior space. Not sure how I feel about pushbutton transmission, verses floor shifter, could be problematic. Heck, didn't they have them in Merc's of the later 50's, and for the Edsel, the pushbuttons were located in the center of the steering wheel?

Let me add a comment about Ford's Premium care. I had it on my previous ride, a '06 Explorer limited, which I was very happy with, BUT..................in the last year of ownership, rear wheel bearing went, dealer went to repair, and axle split. wiring harness after rear seat shorted out, and a number of other things. Service rep said if I didn't have the ESP plan, repairs would have cost me over $4,400, so for me, it was worth getting the extended warranty. Hope this helps you "think things over".

Hi, and welcome aboard. Hope your fiance finds something she likes. Any reason why she's considering a Edge or Flex? The Flex has a lot more storage if that's what she's after, but IMO, the Edge is sleeker looking. Just glad she's going AMERICAN. Joe

There are many sites out there for windscreens. You might try to google it, or try WWW.AUTOANYTHING.COM. They have lots out there.

I would go with the premium care, especially if you plan to keep it more than 3 yr / 36,000. Today's repairs don't come cheap, especially with all the electronics. Some people don't believe in it, but I say, it's like term life insurance.........damned if ya do, and damned it qa don't !

Color code should be on the label on the jam when you open the drivers door.

The best with your new Edge. Tuesday isn't that far away, but it will probably seem like forever. Do yourself a favor, and before you leave the sdealership, do a careful inspection to make sure there are no nicks/scratches, etc. Also, have your salesperson explain how eveything works. When I got my MKX, our salesman must have spent close to an hour going over everything, and also paired our phones, and made sure we knew how to use everything.

Congrat's on your new Edge, and welcome to the forum. Are you anywhere near Northfield or Burton. Have friends out there.

I believe that the headrest is vinyl. If you have a steam machine, they work wonders on most surfaces. Try a reputable vinyl cleaner, I use Lexol products, give it a try.

Nothing wrong with a tent and air matress, but if you can sleep in your Edge (or MKX), and be a few feet off the ground, why not?

Lookin sweeeeet ! Enjoy the new ride (if you wife lets you drive it), and many happy motoring miles. And by the way, welcome to the forum. Joe

Hey Grant, Sorry to hear that you were so unhappy with your Edge, and all it's problems. Hope you will be happy with the Terrain. Aside from having to have my rear tailgate pressure reprogrammed, my MKX has been, as Tony the Tiger would say - GRRRRRREAT ! Lets see how GM's new system ( I believe it's called CUV or CUE) performs. MAybe there's too much technology in today's cars.

Sweet picture, did you try spraying the latch with WD-40? Maybe it's just sticking.
-
So you live in Climax, and you are expecting long distance with the rubbers................cool !

She wants ro stay in Jersey, not me ! My friends iout by you can't believe what we pay in taxes here in Jersey. Oh well, I can always dream !
-
My MKX has a engine cover, too.

Don't know on that one, you might want to check with Sync my ride, they might have the answer. We got the iphones about 5 months ago, and no problem syncing them, and I have no problem playing music from mine, using bluetooth. You might want to check with user FordGuru, who is a Ford mechanic. Joe

Have the all weather mats from the dealer in my MKX, seem decent, but we had a snowless winter (except 3 " in Oct) so I don't know what they will be like in real wintery weather. My wife's MKS has the light pebble interior, and to save her carpet in winter, I went to Pep Boys Auto Store, and bought a set of carpeted mats (around $35) in a little deeper color, and they are great. If you get in the car with snow on your shoes, it melts off on to the carpeted mats, and the heater dries it out pretty good. With rubber mats, snow melts off and lays there a lot longer.

Go with what your gut tells you to do. The '11 sounds nice, and the Ingot Silver (which I have) will not show dirt as much as the darker colors. My wife has a cinnamon color, looks totally friggin awesome when clean, but shows dust & dirt easily. Seeing that you are in Cleveland (have some good friends in Northfield & Burton) snowy winters might have you reonsider AWD vs FWD. Some owners say that FWD handles snow nicey, something to look in to. Best of luck whatever your hoice is. Joe (I'd glady move to Sagamore Hills if the wife would agree)

Glad to hear you love the car. I too, am old school, even though they say oil changes every 7,500 miles, I do my wifes MKS & my MKX every 5,000. Funny, my wife calls the MKX a truck, maybe because my previous rides were 3 Explorers. On my registration, it's classified as a wagon ! I( just call it my "X".

Congrat's with your "X", you'll love it, and welcome to the forums.
