The OLM does not measure the use of the vehicle as far as idle, frequent stop and go or just highway use. I know this as a fact. My Edge is used 95 percent interstate and the OLM mileage reads and counts down exactly the same as my wife's identical 2011 Edge which is nothing but short runs and start stop city driving with no interstate. It counts down the same miles as my Edge does. OLM is nothing more than a count down clock and does absolutely no analysis of your driving habits or the type of oil you use. Took me 500,000 miles in three Ford Edge's of combined mileage and the results have always been the same. Oil brand makes no difference at all. Change it at 5000 miles with bulk synblend oil and bulk filter and you will drive it forever or at least to 300k miles.

P0456 - Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected
macbwt replied to EdgeGermany's topic in 3.5L
Purge valve is back behind the throttle body against the fire wall. The canister is down under side of Edge behind a cover near gas tank. -
You are past due on plugs. Might want to check that out.

Call Sirius radio and ask them to do a radio ID check easiest way to tell if the head unit failed and was replaced with a new one. If it has not been replaced then that is a 1000.00 dollar tab unless it is still able to be covered by ford with the extended warranty they put on those units due to failures. You should get about 23 highway 16 or so in the city if you drive decent.

Did you reconnect the MAF sensor? MAF sensor will make for hard shifts. Do not ask me how I know

Run 36psi and works well without an issue. Ditto on over inflation and under inflation as mentioned previously.

First: You are driving on rock road and the abrasiveness of rock will wear the tires faster. I know I lived on a gravel road. Second: Tire bead is leaking and you need to have it dismounted and cleaned then remounted but first sealing the tire bead and rim. Third: Get some Bridgestone Duelers Ecopias 422's and they will last much longer. Fourth: Gravel roads are hard on suspensions. My 2011 Edge has 143,000 miles and original tie rods. So does my other Edge and I never replaced the tie rods on my 2008 which made it to 285,000 miles.

Pretty much the same amount of work. Plus you do not have to fight the steering knuckle to try to remove the ball joint and possibly end up removing the LCA anyway to punch out the ball joint. So may as well just replace the whole LCA and get new bushings in the process.

2010 Ford Edge Ball Joint Replacement
macbwt replied to dhuffnmu's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
You are better served to just replace the whole LCA and Ball joint like this. Just as much effort and you get all new bushings also. -
Getting a few minor mods done. More light is always better but which LED bulb is the best?

O2 sensor is really cheap compared to a cat. Might want to try it first. Then if not it at least you will have a new O2 to go with a new CAT.

I watched the same video, but figured leverage was everyone's best friend. Works like a champ and takes seconds.

I have never had squeeky brakes since I started using the high carbon rotors and ceramic pads. Cost more but very quiet.

Changed the most abuse wiper blade on any car. Rear Wiper. quick and easy if you know the secret.

Sounds like blend door actuator or climate control failure. Small spaces and big hand are not a good combination in this case.

The main brake line to the rear is one line that splits off at the rear of the Edge then branches off to the rear brake calipers. The drivers side goes directly to the drivers side rear caliper. The passenger side appears to have two or three body fastening points but is one line with no junctions. As far as access I have not had to perform this task, but to remove it may require some or part removal of the tank to access if it thread above the tank like you have observed.

Hissing noise when AC is on and I'm turning left?
macbwt replied to Ghastly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Temp control sensor for fan is near there but 500? seems high. -
Touch the AC lines in the engine compartment. One will be hot and the other will be cold. I think you are on track to correcting the problem.
-
If you replace the TSS and OSS then have the PCM updated. You will get more than 50K miles out of it and exceed that 10 years mark.

Hissing noise when AC is on and I'm turning left?
macbwt replied to Ghastly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
They won't cover it. Had extended warranty once and the accumulator failed but since the compressor had not failed they would not cover the cost to replace the accumulator. Extended warranties are a rip off. -
Might be if the AC compressor is kicking on then it most likely has sufficient freon or it would not cycle on. OR vent controller has failed and is stuck
-
First thing is check the AC by starting your Edge and turning on the AC then watch and listen for the compressor to start. If the compressor does not cycle or start then you may be low or have no freon due to a leak. Start there and continue on. Since the AC requires some special equipment you may need to take it to a mechanic for service.

Just how much movement is in the LCA bushing under braking and acceleration? Watch this video and find out. You might be surprised.
