  1. Looks like mother nature is changing my to do list. Going to install the snow tires and remove and install the snow blowers transmission. No struts installation this weekend.
  2. Found out absolutely no difference in springs for a 2011 Ford Edge FWD and 2011 Ford Edge FWD Sport. They use the same spring and share the same part number.
  3. Since I am going to be changing out my front struts soon. I have a question on compatibility. I know a guy that has two OEM Ford Edge Sport springs he is willing to sell cheap. The question is: Can I install the two 2011 Ford Edge Sport springs on my 2011 Ford Edge Limited are they going to be a good direct fit or are they made physically different (ie longer, shorter, wider etc) and will they make a difference or cause other handling issues.
  4. Akirby is a direct vendor for AEM and K&N air filters. For more information just PM him and he will help you out. ROFLMAO
  5. MAC T channel. I am quickly learning that getting to 1000 subscribers is not an impossible task. Near 200 now. Thanks to everyone. These video's add about 2-5 hours on to any job that i do. Thanks again for watching. I would not do this if I did not enjoy it.
  6. Great news and you need to keep that mechanic happy. That is a great price!! As far as how long a bearing will last? Not sure as to how to answer that question because I have had bearings go about 20K miles and fail and some that went toward 200K miles before failure. I would not worry about it too much until you start to hear the now familiar growling sound. When my bearings start to growl I would just turn up the radio volume. LOL I have been known to push the bearings about 4-6 K miles after I hear the growling. I just had to many things going on and did not have the time to stop and get it fixed.
  7. Bad day for Lullubelle. First thing is a dead battery again (my fault) I left all the cameras and gps on all weekend including Monday. Ever try to charge a battery in the rain with two extension cords running from the garage to the street at 5am? Not fun. Rained today and now the rear wiper sounds like a fly trying to get out by buzzing against the glass on each activation of the wiper and sometimes even after it is done. Am I to assume the motor is indicating it will soon die?
  8. Flat rate can cause issue with mechanics. Test driving a car takes additional time and some of them just want to get to the next job and become parts swapper's.
  9. If the strut bearing mount was replaced and not tightened properly it will make a popping and clicking sound. Also note a broken sway bar link will make a popping and clicking sound. As far as the sway bar link sometimes you can not see them being broken until you get in there and move them. Another metalic ping sound that I called ping pong ball sound was a wheel bearing was not properly seated and thus created intermittent metallic pinging sounds. This was corrected by torquing the wheel nut down another 10 ft lbs and the sound went away. They also may not have tightened all the strut bearing mount bolts on top or stripped the strut shaft out causing it to be loose.
  10. Just confirms what I have always experienced. Folks always want AWD or 4WD and say I can accelerate better. I always say but I can turn and stop better when we both are doing the same speed. I save money on not having to pay the deductible and you get to lose your car and pay the deductible to fix it.
  11. Your first impression is best. Just keep in mind I have never had play in the wheel bearing when it was growling. The information I have received is when it is growling you are pretty sure there will be no play. The bad part is when it stops growling!! then you will have play and the possibility of a rather worse event occurring. I would recommend replacing the wheel bearing in question first then installing new tires. Other wise you could end up with wear problems on brand new tires. If you have the funds it would be a good practice to replace both front bearings. Your rears will eventually fail and most likely the right rear will be next. Don't ask me why. For some reason the right rear tends to fail. Might be because of the curbs that everyone (including me) run over when cutting corners.
  12. I always confuse my self on bearings, but the wheel under load when turning is the wheel with the bad bearing. When you take the load off the wheel will get quieter. Your choice to buy the extra parts seems like the expensive route. I think I paid around 200-300 for a garage to do this job. Unless you have the tools to remove the bearing you will find it a rather difficult job with just hand tools. Eric O at south main auto repair on youtube perform the wheel bearing job. here is the video. Keep in mind he was talking about another issue but the vehicle he was demonstrating on was a 2007-2008 or so Ford Edge.
  13. I have not experienced this with the 2008 or the 2011 models and torque them to 100. Wonder if the lugs are smaller? I have not noticed any difference between the 2008 and 2011 as far as the lugs. Your brakes seem awful low on mileage to be shot like that. Might be another issue you may want to monitor this closely. Rusty brackets on the brakes seems to be a main issue for a lot of the Edge/Explorer brakes.
  14. I did not do that. I was joking. I know I am a bull in a china shop at times, but I do not believe in those type of repairs. However if the situation was being stranded and my only way to get out of it.......you do what you have to do.
  15. I just found these laying around in my garage. LOL
  16. Mileage continues to be a steady 25mpg. Beginning to think the old paper filter was holding up the air. Also logged on 5k miles in 27 days. Getting busier and this is even with hotels stays. Could be a hard ride this coming year for Lullubelle.
  17. The blizzaks were waiting in my garage for me. I had to laugh because my wife made the UPS guy load them in the garage when he delivered them. Soon I will be mounting them when the time is right. Waiting for the weather to cool down a bit more. I like it below 50 degrees consistently before I have them mounted to use.
  18. Here it is. 2011 model used two bulbs in the rear vice one in the 2008. Same result as far as charred sockets. You can subscribe to my channel as I make videos about once a week. Mainly focused on the 2011's now since that is what I own and drive.
  19. Just purchased the Blizzak DM-V2 from Tirerack and paid 738.00 delivered with road hazard. Best price I could find for the new DM-V2.
  20. And here i drilled a hole and drained it then plugged it with a sheet metal screw and rubber washer.
  21. Transmission Torque mount or engine mount?
  22. No not really. You can get the DM-V1 for less money since it is a discontinued model about 130.00 each. The tread design on the DM-V2 has changed compared to the DM-V1 and the compound has been improved for better wet ice traction according to sales literature. I think in looking at the tread it is a more aggresive design. I guess I will find out if the noise increases due to the tread change. I have two DM-V1 at home that I am going to put on Blueberry with two new DM-V1's on the rear. Wife does not drive much in winter. I will do a short video comparison.
