  1. I really hate sales people. I have been dealing with them recently while helping a friend buy a new Escape. I like to deal via email because things are in writing and I am a person that works with numbers vs. listening to some jackass talk my ear off and not giving me what I ask for. So this jackass calls me to tell me he'll provide numbers when I come in. I say email them. He goes on about how they'll beat any deal I can bring. I say send me an email with numbers. He continues on about them being the best deal and that if I come in, it is easier to provide numbers. Finally I just tell him "Look man. I've bought 5 cars in less than 10 years. All new. 1 of them from your dealership. I know how to buy a car, I understand rebates, you know what she qualifies for, and I want some numbers via email. If you keep talking about beating any deal, I will start shopping other dealers and it may not turn out as you think. I am giving you the 1st stab at selling us a car because I like your dealership. Give me numbers by email or I will contact someone who will". 10 minutes later he provides numbers. But of course no break down and leaves out all fees. So i ask for the OTD price. He provides it. I say can he beat the deal that USAA says I can get at the dealership a few miles away. His tune changes "I can only beat deals with vehicles I have in live stock. The car we are quoting you on would come from our network and is like a dealer trade". So I reply with the OTD price USAA provided minus $500 and said get me to that number and I'll send her in to sign. No response. So god damn frustrating. I hate the dealership model we have.
  2. I read something earlier on Reddit that said you just need to pull the Left Headlight assembly off and it'll be accessible that way: http://www.reddit.com/r/Ford/comments/34aq3i/picked_up_my_2015_edge_sport_over_the_weekend/
  3. Can you access the clamp easily if it does pop off? Like pull off the side of the road and tighten it back on? Or will removal of other parts be required?
  4. Because it is an option within the lease. You can buy out the lease at anytime by making all remaining payments and paying the pre-determined value of the car at lease end. People do it when they lease a car, put no miles on it, and it is worth more than what the purchase price will be at the end of the lease.
  5. Yup I agree. Sounds like that turbo hose popped off like some have reported. Easy fix and something we should all probably check given the reports. I wouldn't use it as a gauge about buying the Edge. Drive a different Sport and you'll see how awesome it drives.
  6. Another option is if the value of your Edge is more than what your buyout price is, you could actually sell your current Edge, pay off any remaining lease payments, and pay the pre-agreed upon buyout price. IF your Edge is worth more, then you'll walk away with some cash in your pocket. Then you can walk in and lease a new Edge and have some $$$ for down payment or whatever. That is my plan when my lease is getting close to the end. See what the private market will get me for my Edge. If it is more than $26k (Pre-determined buyout price), I would sell it instead of turning the lease back in.
  7. You can return your lease to any Ford dealer. It doesn't not make a difference. Make sure you are eligible to turn in your lease early without penalty. Ford doesn't offer programs that allow this if you are leasing/buying another new Ford product....which you are. They usually will allow this a few months early. Once you are sure you can turn it in around October/November, then just take it to your preferred dealer and lease your new Edge. The rock chips are normal wear and tear, they won't charge you for it. And since you are leasing another one, the dealer would be REALLY stupid to press on you about normal wear and tear. It is a pretty simple process to do. Hand them the keys, sign a few papers, sign papers for new Edge, and drive home with new car. I've done it a few times.
  8. I don't that as it is not available on AWD. I read that as FWD is what is used to get those MPG ratings.
  9. Sounds like a good time. When I lived up in Michigan, we had jet skis and would be using them all summer long. Once I moved to this area, it was impossible to keep them. Storage was an issue and very costly. Plus access was not as easy. So now I just paddle my canoe around
  10. Had mine in the shop yesterday for the "fix". All sealed up now even though I had no issues with leaking.
  11. Weathertech Floor Liners are a great product. I have had them in my Mustang for 5 years. Installed them the week after I bought the car new. They keep everything off the carpet, are easy to wash, and are well worth the price. Winter time they are a life saver. I'll be grabbing a set for my Edge very soon.
  12. Sonax is great stuff if regular soap isn't working. Acid free and safe for all wheels. And pretty cool that it turns red as it cleans.
  13. I don't think anyone has an idea yet on what could be the "worst" dates vs. the OK dates within the range that Ford has identified. We'd probably have to get all the users with build dates within that time frame to report if they've had any leaking issues and what their build date was. Then we may be able to single out a few days, a week, etc. that seems to be where the problem lies. I think Ford has probably already tracked this and if it was just a week, would have only recalled those built within that week instead of the current span. They probably had a few thousand in the holding lot from the time they started production to the date they realized they had an issue that they'd have to check for the leak. Then compile the data and see if it was within a few day period things may have gone wrong. But with the span they gave us, my guess is this was an intermittent issue during production with no pattern that they fixed.
  14. Wait another week and start the Lemon Law claim. I too would have a tough time exchanging this for a new one. I'd take my money elsewhere even though I like Ford.
  15. Probably needs to be in the shop for 30 days total within X amount of time with the same issue before you'll get a buyback. Ford isn't going to just buyback because you are mad. Become familiar with the Lemon Law in your state, follow the guidelines, and you'll be in good shape.
  16. Are these wheels clear coated ? Without seeing them in person, I'd say yes. Any brushed aluminum wheels I've had in the past have been clear coated. Does the brushed aluminum hold up better than the painted aluminum ? If you take care of your wheels, they'll all hold up the same. What I mean is, don't let brake dust linger too long and clean them regularly. How and with what do I clean these wheels ? Clean these wheels like you'd clean any wheels. Use a car wash soap with a towel, soft brush, or mitt. Rinse off. Apply a spray wax while drying for a little protection and to make it easier to clean in the future. Make sure to clean when they are cool. If brake dust collects and is not coming off with a car soap and towel, then buy a product from the store that is "Safe on all wheels" that is more aggressive than a regular soap.
  17. I have a friend who needs to buy a car ASAP. She totaled her '05 Escape and has no clue about buying a car. She has come to me for help...the problem is I usually take months to research, cross shop, etc. Having to do this and give her a good recommendation over a few days is not something I'm comfortable with. She liked her Escape and is wants something similar. A 2016 escape will be her starting point. What other cars should she look at to compare? Not sure about budget right now but I'm guessing around $30k tops and it may be a cash deal (or she'll look at 0% financing if available). Brand New she prefers. Are there issues with the 2015 Escape? There may be some of those left on the lots that they may discount.
  18. You said your vehicle was bought via fleet sales or something correct? I'm not sure how that works, but I'd be researching Lemon Law in your case. Just because it is a fleet vehicle doesn't disqualify it from being covered. There have already been two reports on this board, that I know of, where Ford is buying their car back due to this issue. There is no reason why you should have to deal with a Lemon.
  19. jacksprat...I think he is looking for a cover that goes on the Dash...not a sun shade.
  20. I usually don't take much from these reviews. You can put 100 reviewers in the same exact cars and get a lot of different opinions. No one, two, or three people can tell you what is best for you or anyone else. Before getting my edge, I watched a lot of reviews on vehicles like the RDX, Edge, Murano, etc. Then I went myself and test drove them. Some of the reviews I agree with....some were just way off compared to my experience. Of course the Edge already had a hand up in the competition for me since I've always wanted one, I like Ford, and I knew I could get a nice discount on one. But I figured I'd give the competition a chance. Mostly everything pointed in the Edge's favor. The one thing I did like about the RDX was the options. You pretty much had 2 options. So it was easy to compare prices vs. other dealers. Instead of saying this one has 1B, 3G, and 4F while that dealer is cheaper with 5A, 1B, etc.... It really makes it difficult for an uneducated buyer. In the end I'm happy. I like gadgets, and the Edge has them all. I like Ford. I like what I pay for a loaded vehicle. I like the way it handles and I'm not going to be off pavement much. Yea there may be 'better' vehicles out there, but I doubt I could get them at this price.
  21. I notice the squeaking on a lot of exterior plastic pieces. Mostly in the rear though. I wash my Edge a lot so I'll notice the squeak when washing certain areas. It stuck out to me because I've never heard that on any vehicle I wash. Gives it a cheap feel.
  22. How do these work when you have the seats folded down? Does the Ford OEM have a lip?
  23. These cars are required to be labeled as Lemon Law Buybacks. By law the dealer must display this on the vehicle during sale and they also must report why it is a lemon law buyback. My guess is the dealer will just unload it on an auction house and let some mom/pop used lot deal with it instead of having that type of car on their lot. Unlike a salvaged title, I don't think the title will be any different. I think the dealer is required to register the vehicle as a lemon law buyback so there is an official record. Then, of course, it has to be labeled as such during the sale.
  24. Glad to see you guys will get new vehicles
