    Poor gas mileage

Yes, plugs, wires, fuel filter, injectors, gas, water in tank, tire pressure, compression loss, dragging brake, age, prior owner messing with vehicle or chip, kids syphoning, towing an elephant... Many things can cause poor mpg. Bad mpg can be difficult to nail down without a full vehicle diagnostic. Rarely is it something simple though unless only off by 1-2 mpg. On a funnier side.... My sister a few years ago bought a c class Mercedes. She took it to dealer 2 or three times over several weeks complaining the mpg was too good, or the gauge was broken. She'd never filled it and drove 900 miles . Turned out her husband was dumping extra gas for his generator in the car so he could store a fresh supply. A good laugh... For everyone but my sister.
  2. You're wallet. May be time for a cat. Only kidding, better to laugh than cry. Don't know the parts, but best of luck with the car... And Cujo.
  3. What you need is "spouse alert". Just put you wife or SO in the passenger seat and trust me, you'll get plenty of loud notifications.?
  4. Funny. Use to have a 2000 Vette. The looks I got at home depot loading the hatch back were priceless. Even a few thumbs up.
  5. Not sure about your year model, but most newer vehicles have, and need the 'BMS" reset when replacing a battery. Basically it a small computer board or chip that monitors battery. Just take your car to an AutoZone or similar shop and they will check your current battery for free before you spend the money. If you buy a new one from them they should be able to determine if you have a BMS and if it needs resetting.
  6. Two things come to mind, if new battery, was a reset done? Second, if older battery, could be as simple as bad battery terminal connection such as loose or corrosion. possibly even loose wire. Removing connectors and retightening may have fixed it, but I'd consider pulling again, inspect wire ends, clean posts and terminals real good, and put back together. Besides baking soda or official battery cleaner, use a battery terminal/connector brush. Inexpensive and available most anywhere.
  7. Thanks for the reminder. I carry a DC portable pump for just such an emergency. Keep it next to the spare tire. Got in the habit since I use to carry one on my motorcycle. That pocket on the left over the wheel well, with the accessory plug under it holds my lithium battery backup/car jumper too, always plugged in for a full charge. Really love all the pockets and accessory plugs on this SUV. Oh, I also carry a rubber mallet for flat tire changing. Sometimes those lug nuts are on really tight. Interestingly I've used all these more to help stranded drivers.
  8. Had to pick up over 20 bags of stone recently. Each bag was 50 lbs. Was just under GVWR with me inside. Handled it fine, but did drive slow home. Was harder on me loading and unloading then the Edge. If I did it a lot, I would want a midsize or small pickup.
  9. I also experienced this on my old Titanium. My bucking was at slightly higher speeds, 45 range. Dealer kept telling software issue, finally took to another dealer who confirmed TC and replaced along with a complete transmission rebuild since it took 49k miles to properly confirm. Transmission was burned up. I became proactive to fix since warranty was about up. Just like you found myself driving differently to avoid kick so I could live with it.
  10. How often does she tow? If not much you could rent a pick up for a day or too. Not all have a hitch or allow towing, so you'd have to check that. Otherwise, get an older pick up just for home depot, landscape, towing... You can even insure some of them at Hagerty as a third car collectable. We had a third car, Mini Cooper Coupe and put it with them and it was very inexpensive since they know you have daily drivers.
  11. Sales of Edges have been strong. Recent reports showing them outselling other brands, Mercedes, Toyota.... Part may be lower price, part may be simply more available, no way to know. Brand loyalty has been through the roof though. Even I came back after a lemon. It was one of the most comfortable suvs I ever owned or drove. While Ford admitted closing plant, they are introducing a new one in China, believe based on the Explorer platform. Rumors are now surfacing they may offer in other countries later, including US. Problem is, changing the size and platform makes it a different vehicle, and probably more in the price range of the explorers. Don't think it will be successful competing against the third row for slightly less. People like it the way it was designed, mostly its crossover size and on a car platform. Very solid performer all around.
  12. My older Edge with the Sony system was terrible on all sound levels. My new one with the B & O is really pretty good. Even the bass. Jazz listener so I like it tighter, not boomy. If I turn it up too much it rattles things in the car. You guys must be rap fans ?
  13. The 2021 and 2022 ST are called 7 speeds. In reality they reprogrammed them to skip 2nd, as it was causing a shudder or poor shift. Solved tons of issues. So yes, its a 7 speed by nature, but actually has 8 gears in the tranny. 2021 Ford Edge ST Gains New 7-Speed Automatic Transmission (fordauthority.com)
  14. My old Titanium had a bad booster and I took it to dealer to fix. Didn't fail, but it would throw you through the windshield if you weren't super easy on the pedal. Dealer said not defective. I told him to replace anyway, not risking the life of anyone in the car, warranty or no warranty. They ordered part at my expense. After install service manager said there was a new part number Rev B, and they covered it since it corrected the issue. Don't risk lives over a part you know will fail, fix it and fight the company after if you must. Part and labor, back then, was less than tires.
  15. Well, I have owned this car 5 weeks and it’s been in dealership for 3 of those after 3 separate failures. Narrowed it down to - park car with rear of car facing west (towards afternoon sun) on hot day - use FordPass to remote start car - the very instant which I unlock trunk with keyfob all faults appear… “front windows inoperable, climate control inoperable, trunk won’t open, air bag lights on, blind spot system fault, cross traffic system fault, and a raft of system faults sent to obd) I’ve put more miles on rental car than my own. Good news is you can reproduce it. Seems a heat shield around the affected cable or re-route (if it was installed correctly) should fix it, and/or software update. Guess there is a TSB coming after they figure it out. Personally, has not happened to me, but rarely use remote start since car in garage. If they don't fix it, looks like you can trade it back in under Lemon law. Just try same routine on new care before you take delivery. Out of curiosity, did you get them to try and reproduce this on another car on the lot or in for service?
  16. And yet... Last quarter... The Edge had one of the highest ratings for loyalty ownership across all vehicles. RIP Edge after 2023 as Ford doesn't listen to customers.
  17. I never recommend finding kick starts. Too easy for funds to disappear. Those that do make it like AA wireless end up cheaper after entering mainstream, and if good have plenty of competition soon after.
  18. Whien connecting to your car for AA or Carplay wirelessly, it really is useless for anything but short trips. It sucks tons of power, and with, the screen on, Navigation running, and music playing, wireless chargers can't really pump out enough watts. Most loose power with this kind of draw, and when the phone heats up things get even worse. They are designed to use when phone not in use to get a charge. Very few devices even put out more than 12- 15 watts, and even then phone will probably over heat and shut off. Get the magnet or a right angle USB c, and leave the wireless charger for the passenger unless the want control of car entertainment.
  19. Confirmed gone from many sources. Plants will become EV makers. Interestingly it was one of their better sellers, but that means nothing to Ford. Kill the Bronco, oh wait... Kill the Ranger... Oh wait..... I expect a similar sized model will come back after they push out all the Explorers, but as an EV.
  20. If you mean accessing from the screen like on Sync4a in the 2021& 2022s, I guess anything is possible given enough time, money and parts... but would probably be cheaper to buy a new car. I have seen guys upgrade dashboard screens using parts from lincolns, but even that was a pita and generally took customized software. I would assume it would be like changing an old TV with manual knobs to electronic buttons.
  21. New torque converter could still be bad, or installed incorrectly. My issue was the worst right around 40 mph when letting off gas, or adding with a light pedal. Never hurts to double check since you are under warranty. Had a Ford ranger xlt, Ford rebuilt the tranny 3 times in 3,000 miles because the mechanics kept getting it wrong.
  22. Also check torque converter. I had a bad one on my old Titanium right from delivery. Dealer kept telling me software update will fix it. Kept getting worse until it felt like I was being rear ended . Finally found a new dealer, and just before warranty was running out got correct diagnoses and they replaced and rebuilt entire tranny since it was damaged from due to condition going on for so long.
  23. Nope. Mine work, just slow and lazy. Doesn't always get commands right and wish they had included seat Warners as an option. Check that you have latest apim updates, there is a thread here or head over to Ford support. You can set up car to get them wireless.
