    3.5L PCV Valve

Go to fordparts.com and do a search. There is a diagram.
  2. I think it's the 6F50 also but I can't find a definitive source yet. It has the same torque as the 3.5L - maybe more - so that would make sense.
  3. OTOH - My last 3 vehicles were new (2000 Lincoln LS, 06 Fusion, 13 Fusion) purchased within a few months of product launch. Had a few minor problems on the LS but it was only in the shop for a couple of days total. 06 Fusion had a broken door handle that I fixed myself - nothing else in 7 years. 13 Fusion has had 2 trips for 2 days total so far with probably one more for a day or two required. It's rare that you have significant problems - most are minor things that once fixed don't return. The Edge fuel tank problem and PTU problems are exceptions but those aren't really a new model problem.
  4. Pretty sure the 6F50 is the only Edge tranny, but there should be a code on the door jamb.
  5. The 2015 was supposed to have been out last fall but got delayed. If they knew it would be delayed that long they probably would have continued with the current model as the 2015 and introduced it as a 2016 model later this spring. They haven't published dates on the 2016 yet - I would assume September/October-ish and I would expect sync 3.
  6. Well that is a different situation. You might want to wait a year to be safe.
  7. This could all be settled if we had accident data for vehicles with and without DRLs. That study also said that the 5% difference with SUVs wasn't enough to be statistically significant - meaning it could have been caused by other factors. And why would it not help cars? Cars would be much lower and harder to see without DRLs so you think they would benefit the most. Show me statistics that say otherwise and I'll believe it. Until then common sense tells me that while it sounds good, in practice it just doesn't make a difference.
  8. What happens if you pull out in front of a car that's 300 yards (10 seconds) away? Nothing. NHTSA looked at hard statistics from other countries. They could find no statistically significant reduction in accidents by having mandatory DRLs. That's why they're not mandatory in the U.S. Making auto headlamps that are also tied into the wipers mandatory would be a much better safety feature because it makes the entire vehicle visible in low visibility situations such as rain, fog or just darkness. And it makes the taillights visible, too. Motorcycles are different - they're smaller and harder to see relative to larger cars and trucks. But in normal light situations, this is how I see it. Obviously some people disagree and that's fine. I'm not saying you shouldn't have DRLs if you want them. The only time DRLs are in play is if You're pulling out into a cross street or turning left An oncoming car is close enough so that they will hit you if you pull out or turn You actually look for oncoming traffic before pulling out or turning. The car is not visible without DRLs. If the car is close enough to hit you I find it hard to believe you can't see it without DRLs. If it's hundreds of yards away there is no collision danger. If you never look then DRLs won't help.
  9. At that point why not just buy it back and let the customer get a new one?
  10. I still say if the car is close enough to hit you then you can easily see it with or without DRLs - if you look.
  11. I find voice commands work better if you speak at normal volume and quickly, rather than slowing down and speaking louder. There have been many complaints about the POI database and lack of other nav data updates. A new version 5 SD card is out for $130 if you want to upgrade but there are no promises about the accuracy of the data on it.
  12. How does seeing a car hundreds of yards away help safety?
  13. Your service manager is an idiot. Or lying. Or maybe he's just new. But there is no denying the PTU problems suck, especially the fact that it's still happening.
  14. The Fusion launch was a fiasco, but that's because it was a brand new design based on a European platform and parts that had never been used before in North American plants. The Fusion plant in Hermosillo is one of Ford's best and the 2006-2012 Fusions were bulletproof. They basically had to start over with the 2013 Fusion. I have one of the early ones and had a few problems that were fixed under warranty. For me it was worth the hassle to have the car then rather than waiting another year. For the 2011 Edge the vast majority of the problems were MFT. Those are almost all fixed now. But the 2015 model does come with MFT and not the new Sync 3. If that's important to you then you'll need to wait for the 2016 model. In short - the problems experienced with new stuff on the Fusion and Edge are no longer an issue. With any first year model you can have issues, but my experience those issues are usually fixed permanently with a couple of dealer visits. If you're still concerned but really want one - lease it for 2 years. If it turns out good you can keep it. If not, turn it in and get a new one. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. And my 2006 Fusion was the 4th or 5th one off the truck at the dealership. I also bought a 2000 Lincoln LS within the first few months. Minor problems but nothing major.
  15. Go to www.motorcraftservice.com -> owner information. You have to go through the main page first - linking directly to the OM doesn't work.
  16. If it's on dry pavement it's probably a bad or blocked wheel speed sensor. It thinks the wheel isn't moving or isn't moving as fast as the others.
  17. since when is 380 lb/ft "practical"?
  18. I expect either a 3.0L EB or 3.5 EB option at some point. That is a damn nice interior! Black label is going to do wonders for MKC, MKZ and MKX sales this next year.
  19. And no more whining from the Edge Sport crowd about not getting a 3.7L V6. The 2.7LEB blows it away. I'm still hearing a rumor of a 3.0L EB for the MKX.
  20. You can get good results with rattle cans of the white platinum tri-coat. Includes base coat, midcoat and clearcoat. Got mine from paintscratch.com and used it to touch up a corner of the rear hatch that dear wife used to try and move a porch post. I'm not a pro but it was a passable blend job.
  21. I'm sure Ford knows exactly what's wrong and it may be fixed in newer models, but my guess is it requires a redesign of the entire system so they're waiting for that. Yes, it sucks if you're a victim but that's the way big businesses operate today. It's always a cost benefit decision. Therefore you have to do your own cost benefit calculation on whether you keep yours or get rid of it and whether you buy another Ford. This is another case where Ford should, at the very least, extend the warranty. I don't blame anyone who ditches Ford after having this problem especially when it's repeated.
  22. Is there a button on the main screen to switch off Private mode while you're talking? That's where you enable it so it may be a toggle.
