Why not just paint them black instead? That would look hella cool! -

That would be incredibly stupid. -
Have you ever seen that info displayed on an audio cd in a vehicle?

What are the FR: FN: Id tags in songs?
akirby replied to Elotrain's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm guessing Folder Name for FN - not sure about FR. -
Sounds like a setting is wrong - maybe you overlooked it.

Go back to the dealer - the original repair should still be under warranty.

Sometimes you have to learn the hard way. First - $2500 is WAY too high for a deposit. $500 is typical. That was a warning sign. Second - you should have had a printed order showing the options and the price and your deposit. Without that there is no contract and they can't force you to buy it. How can they prove that's the vehicle you ordered? Don't believe anything a dealer tells you. You were we'll within your rights to walk away and they had to refund your deposit. Too late if you already took delivery. As to Ford - they are correct. There is nothing Ford can do about it. Franchise laws protect the dealers - Ford has no say in how dealers sell their vehicles unless they're doing something illegal. Ford would love to be able to control dealers in cases like this but the law doesn't allow it.

I agree. Just because a cable works on one device doesn't mean it's not causing problems on another one. Could just be a bad fit in the usb connection where each side works ok with other devices but when put together they don't fit right.

We had silicone based fabric protector back in the 80s that did the same thing. I sprayed a throw pillow and would demonstrate it by pouring coke on it. It would just run off and be perfectly dry. Also sounds like the same thing Rain-X does for glass.

It's better to let the dealer use the machine to swap almost all the fluid using the cooler lines. That gets the torque converter too. In case some of you are confused about calling ATF "oil" - most car fluids are really just a lightweight oil. ATF, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc. So don't get hung up on fluid vs. oil - same thing.

Ask them why it's been happening since at least the mid 90s. Had the problem first on a 97 explorer and several SUVs/CUVs since then. You'd think 16 years is long enough to fix it permanently.

Not sure where the fuel filter is located but you would only need to change it at 80k -100k kms worst case. Not 10k.

It all depends on the required amperage. You don't want to use a 10 amp circuit for a 15 amp accessory.

Headlight polishing
akirby replied to galcala's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I did it on my 06 Fusion. Can't remember the brand but I think it was either Meguiars or 3M. I think they're all pretty similar. -
Rotors just turned....now pulsating

Check the torque on the lug nuts. Uneven torque will cause the same problem. -

"No Key Detected" and Car Won't Start
akirby replied to Shockwavesix's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Takes WAY longer than 10 seconds to call 2 dealers and discuss it with them. I'm guessing at least 10 minutes. You learn about the same way everyone else did - you RTFM. I guess you don't know about the hidden physical key, either. RTFM. So keyless start wasn't new in this vehicle? You're not going to win this one. Just say mea culpa or screw you guys and be done with it. -

This is important information to know (as you found out). If you had time to call two dealers and talk to two different people then log in and read through the forum then you had time to look it up in the owner's manual. But that's not really the answer because this is something you should have known already. Here is the crux of the matter: What if the answer hadn't already been posted here - then what would you have done? By pointing this out I'm trying to encourage you to actually read (not just browse) the owner's manual so you know these things before something happens next time. There is a lot of other relevant information in there that you need to know along with a lot of neat features that you'd never know about if you didn't read it. So please - just RTFM either before or immediately after you get your vehicle. The online PDF at fordowner.com or motorcraftservice.com can also be saved for future reference (and it's searchable by keywords). What really really irks me is when people post a question that can be easily found in the OM, then wait several days for a reply when all they have to do is open the manual and spend 5 minutes looking it up. I equate it to having a dictionary on your desk but calling someone else to find out how to spell a word. [/soapbox] -

You don't need a forum - you just need to read the owner's manual. Sorry but it irks me when people refuse to read the instructions that come with the vehicle.
