  1. Ford typically allows 10% reserve after empty or 1.8 gallons for a 18 gallon tank. Add to that the number of miles to empty and you can get an idea of how much fuel is left in the tank. If you're averaging 20 mpg and you're 50 miles to empty that's 2.5 gallons. 2.5 + 1.8 = 4.3 gallons remaining.
  2. How do you know what happens with someone else's vehicle? With MFT strange things can happen even if they shouldn't happen.
  3. If you're filling up with 50 miles to empty then 14 gallons sounds about right. 1.8 gallon reserve (after empty) plus 3 gallons to go 50 miles.
  4. Blame the U.S. government and CAFE regulations.
  5. Check the voltage while the engine is running. It should be around 14. If not the alternator may be bad. If it is around 14 and the battery is not taking a full charge then the battery may be bad. Both should still be under warranty.
  6. Hopefully Waldo will chime in - he's an expert on this type of problem. It could be a tire but if you've already rotated them then that's probably not it. Another possibility is a bad wheel bearing or brake dragging. After driving the car for a long distance check the temperature of each wheel and/or rotor. If one is significantly hotter than the others than something is dragging. Or just jack up each wheel and try spinning it. Waldo also says that sometimes tolerances within each individual part in the suspension adds up to be out of spec overall. But I don't remember the fix for that or how to identify it.
  7. Ford usually eats the early termination, not the dealer.
  8. I agree. Posts deleted. Knock it off you guys. BTW - KingMike and Dingo were correct.
  9. I assume that was a typo and he meant Acadia instead of Sierra.
  10. It's called Torque Steer. It's the reason you don't see many FWD cars with more than about 250 hp.
  11. What is inside the cargo area that requires that much ventilation? Leaving the windows down is more than enough ventilation for normal use.
  12. What if your wife was driving and you had the only key in your pocket and she dropped you off somewhere. Then she'd be really really glad that you can't turn that feature off. You can always just turn it off if you're only going in for a minute or two.
  13. You could leave the fob in the car and if necessary lock it using the keypad. It won't unlock unless you use the keypad again to unlock it or use another keyfob.
  14. A certain number of vehicles are taken for extended test drives at the factory (I think around 50 miles).
  15. What did the R&D show you that led you to that conclusion? It's pretty straight forward - either the engine is calibrated to take advantage of higher octane by advancing the timing and/or using high compression or it's not. If it's not there is no benefit to premium.
  16. Please don't post that kind of title again. I edited it.
  17. If you don't mind a separate device or piece of paper and you don't want the integrated nav features (voice control e.g.) then you can save about $800. We've had it in the wife's vehicles for the last 10 years. I just got it in mine after not having it and using my phone and it's SOOO much easier having it built in.
  18. Also saw that reported on an Escape. Seems to be a MFT bug. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future release.
  19. You can't. Not yet at least. There is a chance Ford will offer it later but not right now.
  20. Reformat the usb drive to Fat32, then redownload the update.
  21. Some new Fords can take advantage of Premium and advance the timing for better performance and fuel economy like Dingo said. If this is the case it will usually be mentioned in the owner's manual.
