  1. Still not going to happen. Not in the 3.5 Duratec in a Ford Edge even if it was FWD. The best I got was 28mpg with a 30mph tail wind on flat road going 55mph with an AEM air filter never cleaned with 80K miles of use. That was a one off and never happened again.
  2. Duratec spark plug change, pcv and New Intake Gasket, TB gasket and cleaning of intake manifold. It only takes 51 minutes.
  3. I know the MPG's stated are not reality. And not in a 3.5 I guarantee it.
  4. Had an idea and read the FSM on cleaning the HVAC so made the video on how to super clean your HVAC system in the Edge. I used my wife's Edge for this adventure.
  5. I am pretty sure it is part of the structure of the unibody. I would also drop the engine down (engine, trans and subframe) all in one piece.
  6. Unless something breaks down on my Edge. I have no maintenance scheduled nor do I have any work pending on my 2011 Ford Edge Lullubelle. Nearing 205,000 miles and operating great with everything working. Great car and running great.
  7. I have advocated a once a year brake maintenance and cleaning. I also sand blast the caliper brackets then when installing the clips place a liberal amount of CRC ceramic brake grease on the brackets and on the clips also. This has proven to be trouble free braking for me in Iowa where salt is also used on the roads. Not doing brake maintenance every year will result in some bad wear. I also use High carbon content rotors and ceramic brake pads.
  8. Rusty rotors maybe from so little operation or maybe even some rocks on the the pads. Might need to remove the brakes and clean them and relube the moving parts. I use CRC ceramic brake grease and have had great results for long term use.
  9. It will have a new steering wheel.
  10. Strut bearing rarely fail. It is usually the bushing inside the strut bearing that separates and allows the struck to physically bounce up and down causing the thumping sound.
  11. It is part luck but also maintenance and how you drive the Edge with the 3.5 NA Duratec. I have nearly 600,000 accumulated miles on three Edges with the original water pumps. I do change the coolant often and use full synthetic oil. No proof other than longevity to prove my personal experiences.
  12. Is it alright with you for me to post these photos on my FB group?
  13. One thing not really mentioned is the combination of heat, friction and lastly the small amount of lubrication fluid. 12oz. I believe the Ford engineers are asking a lot from a small amount of lubrication fluid. i.e. 32oz of fluid would withstand heat much better than 12 oz. My local police garage has figured out the PTU issue and stopped failures of the PTU in the Police cars. They change the fluid every 10K miles and the PTU failures came to a screeching halt. Mechanic I talked to said Ford even sent a rep to the garage to find out what they were doing to stop the failures. Simple consistent and frequent fluid changes. They even refill the PTU through the drain plug by using a syringe.
  14. Time to change the transmission fluid with no tools. No crawling under the Edge etc. Just stand there and change the fluid. The Easy way.
  15. I just did a Red LIne oil change in both of my Edge's.
  16. Change it out. IMO you should change it about every 30K miles. Keep the water pump happy with new coolant.
  17. Change it out. IMO you should change it about every 30K miles. Keep the water pump happy with new coolant.
  18. It has now been two years documenting the maintenance and repairs on both of the 2011 Edge's. So far pretty good results and both are still reliable and run very well. Had some repairs, but I would consider most to be under the consumable list. Let's see what the future holds as the miles build up.
  19. Red Line oil change with Purolator Boss filter. This video is not a how to but a how Dad and daughter do things together.
  20. I am sticking with full synthetics as the blends IMO will not hold up to the high hours testing and the results will be incompatible to the synthetics.
  21. Update: The Michelin Premier LTX tires I installed have slowed the wear down despite the miles. It seems the compound is harder below the first 3/32nds of wear. They have been hanging on at about 5/32nds and yet the traction and ride are still good in dry and wet conditions. Interesting results as I have not seen a tire wear quickly then slow down like this before.
  22. Interesting as I will say the Moog LCA's I installed on my 2008 were at about 60-80K miles when the ball joints went out. I however had an accident also so was not 100 percent sure of the cause. I am at 202,000 miles on the OEM LCA's right now so I am monitoring the ball joints for eventual failure. The Moog LCA's (arms) appear to be an exact match but I think the ball joints are the weak link.
