  1. Michelin Premier LTX (speed rated at 148mph) tested to 110 and smooth running. Great tire, smooth, quiet and responsive. Best tire to date on my Edge and I have had Hancook dump truck tires, Bridgstones, and Yokohama. Wife has the Michelin Latitudes and they are a very smooth tire, but discontinued so to speak. Premiers handle the rain and puddles with no hydroplaning at 75 mph, wet cornering is great and snow traction is moderate, but I dare say the Blizzaks are what I am comparing them to and Blizzaks win for snow tires.
  2. I know of a guy that installed Stem TPMS on his 2010 Edge which were banded. No issues at all and they work. The only difference is how they are mounted. The PCM will read them as nothing has changed but how they are attached.
  3. It is natural for the right side pull since the shaft on the left is shorter it has less torque steer and more power thus pushes to the right. Very common FWD issue. I may add that you could try changing the LCA's out if you have been driving it hard the rubber bushings may be worn and allowing the pull to be more pronounced.
  4. I lift my Edge up on a lift with the pads of the lift on the rear pinch welds at the jack location without any issues and place the front lift supports under the front sub-frame. More times than I can count without any issue.
  5. Nearing 80K miles on my air filter and running good. Air flow was plenty at 110mph. Just had 25-26 mpg at 77mph cruise control so why you change the air filter every 3-5K miles because it looks dirty. Save money and change it when it actually needs to be changed.
  6. You would think Ford would of figured out the Throttle body by now.
  7. Just for clarity the only part on the 3.5 duratec water pump that is plastic is the impeller. The remaining body, shaft, bearings etc. are all aluminum or steel.
  8. Replace the fans and it will run great again and not over heat. Maybe a 20 minute job.
  9. Stripped it out. Get a new bracket and bolts. Then on your way. The lefty loosey Righty Tighty get confusing sometimes. Guilty on this my self on occasions.
  10. It could of vented out the coolant reserve also but I would have the oil tested to detect any coolant in the oil. If there is coolant in the oil. stop driving it and get the water pump replaced asap
  11. Such a small part plays such a big part in the operation of the engine and fuel delivery. Glad it works. I replaced mine before they failed.
  12. My 2008 Edge had over 285,000 documented miles on it and the OEM water pump was still pumping away. My 2011 has 186,000 miles and the water pump is working as designed with no issues. I will add no water pumps had to be replaced in my mileage totals, unlike the ones you have noted below. Thus this makes the water pumps pretty reliable in comparison.
  13. Got tired of the MC battery and replaced it with an EDGE AGM battery.
  14. Watch this video I go over the water pumps from two failed Edges of two different gens. I plan on water jet cutting them the first week of april and dissection and evaluation of failures in a future video.
  15. Keeping the Forscan Lite and OBDLinks MX up to date with programs and firmware.
  16. Design is used in many other engines. Failures of select numbers cause the ones that have the failure to complain the most. I personally have accumulated over 560K miles on three Ford Edge's of two different generations and not one water pump failure. not sure if yearly coolant changes and very frequent oil changes are helping but I am sticking with what has worked for me. Granted if my pump failed I would feel the same way, but I know in the back of my mind that it is a possibility and am in a way prepared for it. I have two water pumps from two different generations of 3.5 that have failed. Given time the 2nd gen 2015 plus 3.5 will eventually suffer from the same failures. It is a mechanical failure. Low cost used engines are available plus installation I have seen this done for 3-4K dollars. Just replace the used engine timing chain guides and water pump before installing the engine. I may also note that water in the engine will wash the cylinders of oil and kill compression. The heat then generated will melt the bearing and the transferred friction and heat will soften the rods and pistons essentially deforming them leading to a complete failure.
  17. The failure is most likely the water pump shaft bearing failure which is almost always the case. I have two water pumps from 2 generations of edge's and both have suffered from shaft bearing failure. Once the bearing fails it allows water to leak into the oil pan. I have also been working on some other possible signs of failure in theory that may be a way to predetermine failure also. Several water pumps including one I have suffer from broken plastic pump fins. I have one Edge that is running warm but not overheating and my theory is it has broken pump fins which cause lack of water movement. The Edge is running higher than normal 208 Degrees at highway speed compared to the other Edge I have that runs 194 at highway speeds. Working on other members to scan their coolant temps to verify this process and sign of possible pending failure. I will be water jet cutting and dissecting two water pumps on the 7th of April and present a video showing the actual failure points and damages either at bearing, races or seals. Did coolant leak into the bearing seal and cause the bearing to fail? I think this is the most likely cause.
  18. Have you taken the valve off and performed a vacuum test on the valve?
  19. The films eventually melt and split. Not a good product. Stick with the LED lights.
  20. Just change them every spring and winter. Whatever is on sale that is a higher price wiper and swipe on.....dude. LOL
  21. Nothing to report and nothing to repair. Two 2011 Ford Edge's with combined mileage of 277,000 miles. Just regular maintenance.
  22. What is a TCM? Where is it? and why did my mom say not to touch it?
  23. A 2012 Lincoln MKX 3.7 duratec 100,000 mile spark plug change. Not really any different than the 3.5.
  24. The general go to on the 1st gen is the TSS and OSS sensor replacement. Other considerations are if you have not been changing your transmission fluid. The transmission fluid is not a lifetime fluid and at 100K miles it is in need of replacement. The longest I have ever driven transmission fluid is 90K miles and it was shifting slow. New fluid then see if that helps. Then on to sensor replacement and replace BOTH!!
  25. There are only struts and strut bearing mounts. Buy the motorcraft strut bearing mounts. By the greaseable MOOG sway bar links. Forget everything else. They do not have bellows, or bump stops on struts. Never replaced a set of sway bar bushing yet, especially at your low mileage. You should buy rear shocks also.
