  1. I throw the screw in the rear rotors in the trash. I have to use an impact screw driver to remove the screws and just do not want to deal with them ever again once removed. The screws serve no purpose other than assembly needs at Ford.
  2. Agreed. One Edge is for work and used like a mule The other is family use and treated a bit better.
  3. Unless everything maintenance wise has been documented. You could easily end up throwing at least $1,000.00 dollars in parts at it just to catch up and that is not including labor. All fluids would need replacement. 3K dollars and you may be alright. Nothing guaranteed though Personally I would aim for a 2010 MY much better choice.
  4. I ordered these and so far not one issue. I had some others like you linked and they died also. I am guessing they have improved the LED's since. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GXO3IUG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  5. I put anti seize on all of my hubs never have a problem.
  6. A small amount of dielectric grease would help improve contact with the batteries.
  7. Rear rotors are 11mm new with a 10mm minimum. Essentially they are throw away rotors. Fronts are 28mm with a 26 mm minimum. A little more room to turn depending on how bad they are. I never turn them I throw them. tolerances are too close for most rotors these days. Beside rust is usually the deciding factor.
  8. I did not know 17 inch wheels were even an option on the Gen 1.5 Edge. Though 18in was the smallest wheels. Just buy a less expensive set of 18 inch wheels and then have the tpms installed when they mount the tires. Then you have your winter wheels.
  9. You would think a CEL would be displayed since the CAT would have to be at or over 2000 degrees to fail and then would cause power issues and thus the CEL Fuel, Oil etc would cause it to fail or a bad injector, O2 sensor(s) etc. There is a reason some where upstream to cause the failure.
  10. The Edge and all vehicles break. Some more than others. In my life time I have not had one single vehicle that did not require a repair. Vehicles are liabilities not investments. (well maybe a few are investments) For the most part I have found people do not maintain the vehicle or abuse it and then complain it has broke. The other group is smaller and the technology and mechanics may break but this is usually within the warranty period or in some cases extended warranty period. The PTU is an issue and not a mass failure but a notable failure. Two failures that are most complained about are the PTU and the water pump. The PTU is dying because of heat as mentioned above previously, which I put on Ford for not installing a drain plug to allow for maintenance and dealers for refusing to in some case to service the fluid in the PTU. Oil or lube only breaks down from heat. In this case the heat is generated from the gears and the close proximity of the CAT/Exhaust to the PTU. Thus Ford could issue a TSB for Drain plug installs and or a CSP and the issue would of been lauded by many and people happier. Pretty simple customer service if you ask me. The Edge is a well built vehicle that (REQUIRES) maintenance. I personally avoided the AWD and stayed with FWD in all my Edges. I perform maintenance frequently on them and still had some issues, but the big tickets were covered by warranty. Over all people complain about the failures but that is part of the ownership. The best used car you will ever own in most cases is the one you currently own. All I can say is after about a combined mileage of ownership of 3 Ford Edge's at approximately 550,000 miles I think I am happy as the Edge is the only vehicle I have ever re-purchased let alone bought three. Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance...........
  11. Center head rest is one piece unit and from my initial inspection I could only see the option of cutting it apart.
  12. I do not know if circuitboardmedics can repair an apim but it may be worth a shot to call them and ask some questions they are doing a bang up job on the PCM's so nothing lost by calling them and asking if they can repair the old APIM. You can remove the old APIM and install the new one to save some labor but you may still have to go to Ford dealer to have the programing installed due to Ford holding the programing under so much security the Russians can not even get it. LOL
  13. Continuing to monitor the CHT, seems to be there may be some human error on my part, when switching devices. Latest drives have been reading just as they are supposed to. Testing new devices can create all sorts of interesting readings until you learn what is going on.
  14. Omar Yes it would. I am chasing this down as it was not really an Apples to Apples comparison. I was experimenting with another device on wifi and I may have stumbled upon an issue with the new device. I retested this morning on both Edge's at cold start up on my OBDLINKS MX and both provided exactly the same reading. I will test out the ELM327 wifi on my run this morning and determine if it is not working or reading data the same way. Both voltages dropped nearly identical at cold start up this morning and all pids read nearly equal as they can with one Edge having nearly 100K miles more on it there will be minor differences.
  15. Isn't this just sweet. Checking out Blueberry and coolant temps and observed again some high temps on interstate of about 200 degrees. I then compared my Edge Lullubelle and the temps of 190 degrees on the interstate. Further comparison on my Forscanlite revealed that the CHT (cylinder Head Temp) voltage on Blueberry is running wide open at 3.50 volts at 200 degrees and Lullubelle is running 190 degrees at .61 volts. Comparisons of other Edge's with the 3.5 revealed similar voltages of the CHT to be comparable at operating temp of .60 volts. Thus I am quickly determining I have a failing or failed CHT sensor on Blueberry. The sucky part is I just changed the sparkplugs and literally was half way to the job if I had known the CHT was bad I would have continued to remove the lower intake and fuel rail and just replaced the CHT at the same time.
  16. Hey now my brakes last a very long time and I go through tires like cops and donuts. LOL Love the cops though.
  17. I doubt any changes to speak of other then minor improvements. The Edge seems to be on a four year cycle so do not expect much for 2019 other than body and trim changes as the platform will be milked for another 4 years. Think of 2020 as the 2.5 refresh year sort of like 2011 was. I like humor it makes me smile
  18. I am generally purchase a tank of gas a day and do buy top tier almost every time, but on occasions I have had to buy non top tier. The only real issue I find is lower MPG's in most cases. I would not worry about it and if you do get gas and fill up you may have some gas left in the tank and as stated above it will mix in but be diluted.
  19. Window number #3 for the drivers side. China made one that I installed failed and cracked. Now let's see of this USA made window does any better. I had it installed by safelite since my insurance paid for it.
  20. Never quite understood why you want to darken your lights when night vision and lighting are an import safety to avoid people, animals, objects etc when driving at night.
  21. Most likely the same access type and point as the 2015+
  22. Have you stopped by a Ford dealer to look up the part?
