  1. AMSOIL and AMSOIL filter with lab testing to back it up. Just finished a run of 285 hrs (14,500 miles) on one change and filter. No noted difference between the last test at 200 hrs and 10K miles. AMSOIL is standing up. Going to go 350 hrs and over 20K miles this time. OH and the Edge is a 2011 with 182,000 miles on it. I will note that last test was only 90 days of driving.
  2. I might assume you are referring to the timing chain? Changing the timing chain would be a waste of time.
  3. Replacing the whole axle has generally been the solution. I have not seen any other type of repair.
  4. Check this out and test it.
  5. The Michelin Premier LTX has impressed me so far. I am happy with the tires and look forward to the miles with these tires to see how they hold up over the road as the miles add up.
  6. I agree there is an issue as the courts are deciding. I am just doubting the cops story that he was overcome and passed out. To do that it would have to me massive amounts of carbon monoxide quickly and I doubt the engine in the Explorer is even capable of generating that much CO in such a short time.
  7. Just some discussion on our future driving and some upcoming videos on the maintenance of an MKX and a Ford Ranger 1997 MY project and the discussion on the news articles about Carbon Monoxide complaints with an explanation of what carbon monoxide is and how it affects you. Dispelling the myths
  8. When the light comes on just dump the whole gallon in the tank.
  9. Great deal. FYI the latitudes are no longer available for the most part. You might find some hanging around. The Michelin Premier LTX is the replacement tire and IMO is the a great tire. I just installed a set and they are great as far as my first impression. I will toss a 1k miles on them this week and have better feedback after the trip. As far as the sirus radio. Ride with it, but last I knew the subscription does go with the person whom purchased a lifetime and they can transfer it to another radio if they get a new car. The previous owners must not of transferred it yet or forgot.
  10. Yes and I learned my lesson. The Monroe rear shocks were the only time I used them and they leaked after just 50K miles of use. Been using KYB ever since. I have always used KYB for struts.
  11. I have an orphan YK 580 with 200 miles on it in my garage. LOL Keeping it as a full time spare just in case I have to hit the road and can not obtain a replacement for my Michelin Premier LTX tires I just installed. By the way I will say I am initially overly impressed with these tires. Smoothest I have ever experienced and very quiet. I will test them out this week for a 1000 mile plus drive and have more to note but so far pretty good.
  12. I made a video on buying windshield wipers and some have commented I could get them on line through AMAZON. Yes I could but then I would not of been able to make this video and who would watch me buy wipers online anyway. LOL
  13. Nearly 15,000 miles on the oil since the last change to I will be draining the AMSOIL and replacing the AMSOIL filter. Then sending samples off to be tested. One note is I was down 1 qt over the 15K miles. I will be adding a fumoto valve to replace the drain plug just to make oil changes and oil sampling much easier. Today is the day I begin to try out those Michelin Premier LTX tires and can then comment on their performance, handling and durability in the future.
  14. Going to say it is the choice of struts and strut bearing mounts. I never use Monroe parts. A better choice would have been either OEM motorcraft or as I have always used KYB Excel G series struts and shocks with the OEM motorcraft strut bearing mounts.
  15. Just curious. You are going to sell it or trade it in. Are you going to disclose it has brake failure or just let it be and let another family figure it out at the rear of a semi?
  16. Time will tell on the 2.0 and 2.7 as far as longevity and components. Just too early right now. Once some 2.0 and 2.7's start reaching 150-200K miles then the proof will be in the pudding as they say. The 3.5 NA has many in the 200K+ category now and doing well
  17. A video review and some fun with some music all focused on the Edge or course.
  18. Worked on the rear brakes on my wife's Edge (Blueberry) Seemed like some folks did not know how to use or never used the rear caliper tool so I made a video to demonstrate how to use it. Those pistons can be hard to turn.

    2007 motor removal

I have only see snap shots but no video.
  22. Currently tracking the slow unforgiving death of a motorcraft max battery that is over 3.5 years old. Once it dies in goes the EDGE AGM Battery. Yes an AGM battery named the EDGE.
  23. 2011 Edge the wife drives has now completely worn out the rear pads and most likely now nearly metal on metal. I was hoping the pads would make it to the spring, but alas no such luck. Winter brake work this weekend. All fun. Going to install the Duralast Gold rotors and Cmax ceramic pads on the rears. Once done I will have a long time to go before new brakes on this Edge.
