You sure the CAT is not burned and clogged. Power loss from a damaged CAT is a tip off especially when trying to achieve higher RPM. cause could of been the misfires dumping raw fuel into it or the O2 sensors failing and allowing rich mixtures to over heat the CAT.

The answer is FOMOCO. Personally I would spend the money and find a motorcraft fan online or at Rockauto and be done with it. Checking your wiring circuits to verify everything is grounded and good with continuity. OEM fans are cheap when compared to new engines and damaged AC.

Cold air intake or just K&N for better fuel economy?

Cold air intake or just K&N for better fuel economy?
macbwt replied to rltrbill's topic in 2010 Edge & MKX
My input and I used K&N filters for 10 years. I switched to the AEM dry filter to get away from the oil and cleaning routine. Can not say there was any noticeable difference between either brand. The benefit however is I do not have to buy a recharge kit for the AEM and thus the AEM becomes even cheaper to use and own. I also do not like cleaning them so I purchased the Filter Minder and installed it on my air box to let me know when I ACTUALLY need to clean the AEM air filter. Installed the filter minder in December 2015 and have since put about 20,000 miles on the AEM filter and the filter minder is still in the green. I am monitoring it for when it will actually need clean when it pops to the yellow or red. To your point no noticeable fuel savings and no noticeable power increase. Purely a way for me to reduce maintenance time. IMO -

Akirby? nothing? Oh well you can lead them to water....... -
I hope if you do this your mechanical skills are above the norm.. You can accomplish it but this is not what I would rate as an easy job. Many parts to the transmission need to be removed.

Some contribute the shattering of the rear window to stress, but others have also contributed it to the fact that when you get in the car and hit the defrost for the rear window the heat may be too rapid and the cold glass under the right conditions just shatters. Did he have the rear window defrost on? curious?

It will cost some money. your best bet is get it repaired through a Ford dealer and at least have a warranty on the parts/job that they performed. Check with your military assistance group they may be able to provide a no interest or low cost interest loan to help with the repairs and in some cases if you qualify a small grant.

HELP! Transmission Problem, May be Torque Converter?
macbwt replied to Joanne Howe's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
How many miles? have you changed the plugs every 90k miles. Changed the transmission fluid at least every 60-90k miles? If you are near over over 100K miles and suffer sudden shifts and bumps at stop and go traffic, stop signs, and when in cruise or on hilly road the transmission hunts for the gears? Then you have TSS and OSS symptoms of prefailure ($700.00 repair) These sensors will not throw a code until failure. You can replace them now or wait until you have to walk home, because the Edge will not move when they fail.- 12 replies

I am not going to say they took you to the cleaners, but did they change out the TSS and OSS sensors in the transmission? If not then they did not fix the problem. The other thing to check is the brake booster. Known bad part also. Bad booster can affect driveability and cause some stalling/lack of power. Note: The TSS and OSS throw no codes until they fail and it can take many miles with poor shifting you suffer until failure. Once they fail you walk home or ride home with a guy named bubba in his tow truck.

I go to Xpress Lube Plus, but then again I have a "relationship" with the place since I go get my oil changed every month at their business and have been for over 10 years. This is the key to the whole oil change thing. Find a good place and then become a regular and reap the benefits. Would I go to Jiffy Lube NO. Their business model is based on the upsale like several other locations and names.

Have some upcoming items for repairs and MODS. just purchased a HID kit to upgrade the lights on Lullubelle. Also have a Youtube viewer that I will be meeting with to see about a single or double axle replacement in his 2011 SEL Ford Edge FWD.

I have never driven a 2.0 or 2.7 turbo. I have only driven the 3.5. I will say that between three Edges, (see signature) I have a combined total of over 500,000 with the 3.5 and it has never failed. The 3.5 is a rock solid durable engine and I am waiting for the new ecoboost 2.0 and 2.7 to prove themselves out for now before I just jump in.

Getting the inner wheel well liner off is another step towards removing the belts and accessing the alternator. This video shows how to perform this task.

Recently unmounted my Blizzaks and installed the summer tires. Bridgestone Dueler H/L Ecopia 422's on my OEM (garbage chrome clad) wheels I had balancing issues again, but eventually found the fix to make them balance. This video is on the mounting of the Bridgestones.

New Front Pads and Rotors - question
macbwt replied to shumax's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Grease the ears on the brake pads good along with the sliders. Mine are wearing fine with over 40K on them and actually look nearly new. -
Mounted the new Bridgestone Dueler H/L Ecopia 422's on the Edge. quiet and good traction in the last rainy day.

I run the cord from the dashcam to under the visor then press the cord under the rubber molding down to the floor board then under the floor mat and into the 12v plug. Nothing is in the way and I can move it pretty quickly to another vehicle like a rental should that have to be done.
-
A short video comparison of the dash cam I used to have until it broke and the new one I am using. Interesting results.

I decided to dissect the GL928 alternator that is installed into the Ford Edge. This one is out of the 2011 Lullubelle. This OEM motorcraft was replaced with an OEM motorcraft GL928. Want to see where the voltage regulator lives and how it is assembled? Watch the video.
