  1. Buy the extended warranty if the car is already out of its powertrain warranty. What I did was to go online and get three quotes from on-line Ford dealers. Took these to my local Ford dealer's comptroller and asked him to match. He did without question and bettered it by offering free deductible (if I service there, otherwise $100 at any other dealer). Think.of it as a safety net in a very complicated world.
  2. Can't imagine what your complaining about, 4° is well within Chinese tolerances.
  3. PTU is an acronym for Power Transfer Unit. It sits aft of, and attrached to the transmission. The purpose is to send power to the rear axle. (Power is split between the front and rear axles). The problem with the unit is, eventually the seals start to leak and the remaining fluid overheats, cooking and loses lubricating properties. The unit then fails. The best prevention is to change the fluid every 30k. Even though it's a required procedure after the car had been in deep water, many dealers will not do the flush. (My local does, was either $60 or $80, forget.) Some transmission shops will also do a flush. The unit is considered sealed for life, but life of any car is it's original warranty (not forever as some think). (On older cars, there's no drain plug and thd fluid has to be sucked out using the same equipment used to drain and refill the rear end). It's "infamous" because so many units have failed and are expensive to replace. Considering all the millions of AWD vehicles on the road, and the number that have actually failed, it's actually a fairly reliable unit. The dealer found mine started leaking during an oil change. They replaced the unit under extended warranty. (Good reason to purchase the Ford extended warranty).
  4. Most likely cause is the wiper has come loose on the pivot arm. Remove the attachment nut, reposition the arm so that the blade is parallel with the bottom defroster grid line, and tighten the nut to 12 in/lb.
  5. Neighbor was telling me today that local Ford garage recommends a steam cleaning procedure for direct injection engines. Think he said they quoted him around $250 for the process. Cleans gunk on backside of valves. Anyone else heard about this?
  6. I'm jealous. (Ok, maybe just a little).
  7. Check with your local Service MANAGER before going with the latest OAT coolant. Reason is, Ford specifically engineered the newer motors to have special blade geometry and a slower spin so that less cavitation is caused in the coolant circuit. (Cavitation is what causes a lot of pitting in the cooling systems). He can advise what's best for your specific engine & year. If you decide to change coolant type, follow the Ford recommandations and do a proper and thorough flush. Mixing green and orange can cause a silica compound (basically sand and other nasty stuff) to fall out of solution. This is what will kill your engine and clog your coolant passage ways. Believe there's a procedure out on this (is for my 09). Anyways, Service Manager can advise proper process. Quite involved.
  8. Can't you turn your DRL's on and off from the info panel? Settings->> Vehicle->> lighting->> DRL (on/off)

  10. Chuckle. Seems only a couple of years ago, the topic was how to add these lights. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/19338-2015-ford-edge-se-front-bumper-oemaftermarket-light-install/
  11. Looks like we have a winner. Wife said yes, exactly what she's looking for. :high-five:
  12. No room in the freezer for a canister. Have plenty of ice.
  13. I'm also running Dueler's and we'll satisfied with them. Only get slightly noisier as they age, not bad at all. Great price..
  14. I feel so old. Big wheels, ice cream sandwiches, all I wanted to know was, what was a good (cheap) ice cream machine. You know, the kind you make on the patio, with ice. Come spring, when it comes (snowing in Northern Indiana again today), it's off to Wally World or Tarjai. It will probably get used twice. I'm sorry but $750 for an ice cream machine is a bit pricy for me. For that amount of money, it's got to be an espresso machine, something better than my La Pavoni.
  15. Thanks, but looking for ice type. No room in freezer.
  16. I need an ice cream machine.
  17. Wife put me on notice, she wants an ice cream machine. Wants to make home-made ice cream on the patio this summer. Anyone know what I should be looking for? What's good, what's bad. Have plenty of ice available.
  18. Dealer don't feel it's a problem, so it must be monor. Next oil change ask the service rep "why" it's not a problem. Might also consider wiping it clean and see how much grease is actually leaking out. (Small amount could be normal over several 10,000's miles).

  20. It seems common sense that all one would need do is change the glass (it's what I did on mine, but I don't have bliss). Anyway, something to mull over. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F231958405669
