  1. On my Gen-1, 2009 MKX I get RBDS (think that's what you're referring to) when it's turned on, on the radio display. Can't speak to Gen-1.5.
  2. Was finishing up my inspection today, ready to get back into the car and happened to think of this thread. Looked down at my wheel well and it hit me, why not install mud flaps? Cover the opening completely and real chick magnet. (At least for me, every time I pull in the local retirement community).
  3. They use them for the come-alongs used to hold down aboard ship. Same reason the mirrors fold, park closer together for shipping.
  4. I'm curious, why would it be engine mounts when tbe engine isn't running? (Assume it wasn't running as you stated "restarted"). One thing that can cause periodic vibration at "idle", engine running or not, are the radiator cooling fans. If a blade is unbalanced, you could hear a hum and feel the vibration. (It's been My experience with bad mounts, they get worse when driving, depending on engine load). It's not normal for them to fail, I had a set replaced on a car years ago and they were horrible. The mechanic used NAPA ans I made him replace with OEM. All problems went away. So one question you could ask is, did they use Motorcraft or aftermarket?
  5. Great video. I couldn't help but wonder if the buffeting from wind under the car will eventually work the "U" shaped pieces out; requiring this fix to be done over again. Believe if it were me, I would use plastic garden hose washers. Thick enough and would never come out, but it would require pulling the screw out to install. (Never have to do it again though).
  6. I was thinking of Weathertech for mine, but I never followed through.https://www.weathertech.com/lincoln/2009/mkx/lampgard/
  7. Most likely the old fashioned way, by wrapping a chain around the rear axle. If all they have is the front, probably some frame part, whatever they can reach. What else can they do?
  8. I'm not certain as what the screws are for, but when you pull the plastic bezel the front part that surrounds the radio and top.part that contains the tray are all one piece and come off without tools. Easy way to check is to pull the plastic shroud (as if your replacing the radio) and see what the screws are for. Most everyone else uses a windshield mount. (Keep it near the mirror and you can use a MirrorTap harness to power the camera - turns on and off with the radio).
  9. The short answer is yes. (At least on a 2007 Fusion, which is simular). Heh. See video:
  10. Honestly, just watching the video, it looks ok to me. Dealer didn't have a cow over it, probably nothing to concerned over. I'd be more concerned if the airbag hasn't been changed. (Like MINE). snort!
  11. Key FOB'S also contain transmit circuitry. I understand why you don't like the IA fob, with me it's the large physical size of carrying around in my back pocket. As for not allowed to enter the controlled area with the IA, you have a locker that you can lock it up in. When I was in the military and worked in a classified area, it was cameras. And the camera's we used were kept locked up even when there was no film in them.
  12. If your talking about the passenger air bag instrument panel cover, it just pushes down and is held by clips. Should be able to just press it down flush again. Under no circumstances should you be able to see the actual airbag. Was this airbag replaced by Ford under the recall?
  13. Looks like another job for duct tape! OK, seriously, if it's open in back then I don't see any problem. If not, I'd talk to the service manager about it.
  14. If you go with Motorcraft, make certain you get the ones for your tire size (18" tires are different that 20" tire size). Aftermarket are universal are not manufactured to that precision.
  15. Yeaaaa, you don't want your driveshaft to get stuck in a pothole and buckel.
  16. Yea, I was disappointed with mine as well. I wanted "Heart's Desire" and all I can change to is "Asses of Roses".
  17. Sweet. Is the color the Ingot Silver Metallic or the White Platinum Metallic? Hard to tell as both tend to change as the light changes.
  18. I tried crushing up some Nugenix and putting it in the gas tank. (Thought I'd give my car a set of bigger bolts.) Only thing that happened was, the engine started backfiring every once in awhile and the exhaust smelled funny.
  19. On my 2009 MKZ the low fuel warning comes on at 50 miles. If I reset it, it pops up evey 10 miles or so. I deliberately ran it down to 0 once to test it, and finally refilled it around 30 miles over. So there's a safety margin.
  20. I was being facetious. For $70k+ I want more than transportation and wandered too far off course.
