2013 Edge Limited SMOOTHEST riding tire recommendations in 2018?
enigma-2 replied to enigmakv's topic in Wheels & Tires
I've also had problems with Michelin's after 20k. They're great when new, but get loud and hard around 19.5 - 21k. Gave up.on them years ago. I now on my 2nd set of Bridgestones with this MKX and feel its an excellent tire. Reports of short life on Michelin's in the reviews posted on Amazon, as well. -
mirror blind spot problemns
enigma-2 replied to Tc4arch's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I went from standard mirrors to the ones with the convex inserts. It takes a little learning to use them. Adjusting them properly is critical (see TheWizzard's post above). When adjusted properly, if you see ANY PART of a car in the convex, he's in your blind spot (and close). I would never want to go back. -
Trailer electrical connector maintenance.

Good advice. Now it makes me want to check mine. -
While it could be a lot things, one possibility is the lens in the unit is dirty. (Car's have lot of environmental polutants not seen in a residential environment. Think of the film you see on the inside of the windshield). You could start by blowing air into the inside of the unit with a can of air made for this purpise. Then you could try using one of those DVD laser cleaning disks. And if it is a more serious problem, you could always send it to a repair shop specializing in auto DVD repair. I Googled and clicked on the first link, http://www.hitechserv.com/electronics-repair/oem-navigation-dvd-cd-changer-repair/70 They are quoting around $185. If you live in a major city it's possible that there's a repair service nearby. Could also be an opportunity to drop in one of the cool new aftermarket units. But that's going to coSr some. And then there's ebay and a used unit.

Pulled this from a different forum where they reported same condition after change. Quote: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor contains a thermistor. The sensor varies its resistance with the temperature. As the temperature rises, the resistance falls. As the temperature falls, the resistance rises. The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM through separate input and return circuits. If the outside air temperature is below approximately 0°C (32°F), the PCM does not allow the A/C clutch to engage. After replacing an Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor, the sensor data must be reset by either driving the vehicle at speeds consistently about 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value. On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then release both. Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again.

Thank You! Was curious about how the compare with the gen 1 versions. .

or their MKX's. (cough)

On mine, the cooling fans cycle on and off when idling (and going slow, like in traffic when insufficient air flow through radiator). Seat fans (at least on mine) stay on steady when turned on. They don't cycle on and off). Is you seat cooling on when this occurs?
-
Probably the radiator cooling fans turning off and on as coolant temperature rises.

Can't you measure the pipe before the start of the tips?

Would this work? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M028L5E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dhTSAbCKTNHH2

What's wrong with going through the dealer?

About the only way I've ever tried was to drill out the spot welds. Doubt you can break the welds.

Reverse aid sensor gone bad??
enigma-2 replied to jonesboys310's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Pull each sensor connector and check for corrosion. -
Don't think these pads were designed to fit plastic oil pans anyway.

Well if that's 12k miles, that car has seen a lot of back Texas roads. lol. If you haven't installed it yet, can you slap a tape measure on it and let me know what the dimentions are?

Got curious and checked. You're absolutely right. They are pressurized (my cap is marked 16 psi) and the service manual talks about crud getting between the gasket and how to clean. (Replace if cracked or failed). And if leaking, can cause loss of coolant as OP described. Learn something new every day. Thanks for chiming in.

Looks great! Now you need chrome door handles.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
enigma-2 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
PTU = Puke-up Tactical Unit. It's a black box that sits in the middle of Ford & Lincoln automobile powertrain, that came equipped with an option called AWD (which is an acronym for "Acute Watery Diarrhea") and when the time is jussssssssst right, trashes itself. -
Using your analogy, I'm nearly 144 years old.

Musty Smell from vents after AC shut off
enigma-2 replied to haedgy's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Service reps come and go, not really important. Their job is to get you checked in and push extra service such as wiper blades, tires, etc. Your best bet to ask to speak the either the Service Manager or a technician.- 9 replies

Missing Health Report Feature
enigma-2 replied to lorenzog0917's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Believe it was added in on an update, perhaps they just installed the unit without updating the software. -
Guess I'm confused. Doesn't the coolant resevoir vent to the exterior? If so, the only function the cap would have is to keep the dirt out. What am I missing, can't seem to see what part the cap would play in loosing coolant?
