Question on 2013 MyTouch Climate Controls
Waldo replied to karpcbk's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Press Auto first, then press A/C. A/C will stay off until you press Auto again. -
You're dreaming. It's way more than a wiring harness, it's a complicated multi-module system. Picking up all the parts you need will likely run you over $3000 and you will have to find someone knowledgeable enough to program and configure it all. Car electronics aren't just plug-and-play anymore. It's all a complicated network of messages and software than needs to have everything matched up exactly or really strange stuff won't work. You will be far better off trading in for a car that has what you want from the factory.

The car doesn't know where the sensors are, that's what the training does. There's no need to actually move your tires, you can just go to any one first and see if the sensor responds. Are you pointing the sensor at the valve stem or 180 degrees away from the valve stem? For your 2011 it should be right at the valve stem. How many times are you trying? I've seen it take 5-10 tries before it picks up.

Disable all warning chime sounds completely
Waldo replied to eddy1981's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The chime in the Edge is part of the circuit board in the cluster. Cut it out and you won't have any chimes for leaving your lights on, door open and the turn signals won't make any noise anymore. -
I'm afraid either you or your dealer are confused. You cannot order Limited Options on an SEL. Ford doesn't make the parts (mainly wiring) that can allow that to happen. So either you are confused and your order does not actually include those items, or the dealer has told you something that isn't true, or they've actually ordered a Limited, or they're going to install some aftermarket parts to trick you into thinking you're getting what you asked for. Either way, I can guarantee that you are not going to own an SEL with a Sony stereo and push-button start. That parts/software to make that have never been designed or built.

Help - Issue with 2011 Ford Edge - Ford not Helping !!!
Waldo replied to nafreire's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Sounds like the throttle body issue to me. -
The Edge doesn't use "flashers". All the control for the turn signals is built into the BCM (Body Control Module).

He's saying that when you turned the car off, it should have popped another message, this time telling you there are no keys detected and given you the 20 second count down. Note that this is all explained in the Owner's Guide. It's not fair to start calling this a safety issue when you obviously haven't read the instructions.
-
I've never heard of an issue like that, but I think you're right to be suspicious of the diagnosis. If the sensor ring was bad, it would throw a code and stop working completely, not work "too much". My only guess is that the issue is something like a bad shock that is causing the wheel to loose contact with the road, which would cause the ABS to come on more aggressively. Do you notice it happening more on bumpy roads? Or it could also be related to tire wear. Are all 4 of your tires the same model and evenly worn?

Every car does this, though some are worse than others. Open another window or the moonroof if you have one.

What is suppose to come free on your edge?
Waldo replied to Estuardo Fernandez's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
The antenna is supposed to come in a bag in the glovebox, it's not installed at the factory so that it doesn't get damaged in shipping. It should be installed by the dealer as part of their prep. By the way, nothing comes in the Edge for free. You paid for all of it! -
Ford's system uses third party data, but it's all configured and coded in a unique Ford way - and licensed that way from the third party supplier. So you're not going to find anything else out there, unless somebody has taken the time to crack the code and produce illegal copies. But even then, it seems every time Ford updates the MFT software, it requires a new Nav card as the configuration of the data (not necessarily the data itself) changes. So that illegal copy would only be good until the next update comes out.

Please ..what fuel type recommended for Edge 2013
Waldo replied to EdgeLimit13's topic in Owner Impressions
This is not true, or at least only partially true. The 3.5L V6 did not have that capability when it was released in 2007, but it does now. The changeover varies by model though, so I'm not sure which years of the Edge have it and which do not. My guess would be that it came in with the TiVCT version in the 2011. -
There is no ideal pressure. The ideal pressure is different for everybody and their unique driving conditions. Higher pressures will give you better mileage and often better steering response. But higher pressures will cause uneven wear, they will make the ride harsh and they will reduce the amount of grip which increases the stopping distance and makes the vehicle less capable in emergency handling maneuvers. Too high a pressure (above the max rating on the sidewall) can cause tire failure. Lower tire pressure have generally the opposite effects as those above. However most people don't consider the load capacity of the tire. As pressure goes down, the load capacity also goes down. Once you exceed the load capacity, you run the risk of tire failure. Since OEMs don't specifically call out the lower limit of the load capacity of the tire, one must assume that the OEM tire pressure is the lowest you can safely go. Running anything below the recommended pressure is a safety risk. Running your Edge at 30psi around the city in reasonable weather is probably fine, but running it at 30psi while driving across Arizona in the summer with a family and full load of luggage would be pushing too close to the limit for my comfort.

In a 2013 all the maps are on the SD card. All you need is the SD card that has the maps of the area you want. What card do you have now? The A card (A3, A4) is for US and Canada, the B3 or B4 card covers Mexico, but I don't know if it goes to Panama. There are also Edges sold in South America, so they must have some card available. Do you have a local dealer that can help you?
-
What in the world are you talking about? All Edges are made in Canada, that doesn't make the VIN "Canadian". The VIN should show that the vehicle is built in Canada, but it should also be registered in various databases as to it's original point of sale. Ford certifies it's products to be suitable for sale in various markets, it tracks that certification through the VIN number. Ford builds Edges in Canada that are sold in China. Just because it's built in Canada, doesn't mean it can be sold in Canada. When you move goods - any goods, not just vehicles - across international borders, there are many complicated import and export laws that must be handled. Many of the export laws need to be handled by exporters, not the importers. So it really needs to be both parties that are involved until all the paperwork is done. A contract is only a valid contract if it can be fulfilled without breaking any laws. if you sign a contract to sell your illegally imported vehicle, it's not a legally binding contract.

Diesel's don't make economic sense in North America. They add at least $3000 to the cost to produce the vehicle and with diesel prices higher than gasoline, the payback periods are worse than EB engines and even hybrids. In Europe the emissions requirements mean it's only about $1500 additional cost to produce the vehicle and the diesel prices are cheaper. Thus diesels make sense in Europe, they do not make sense in North America (except in the small markets of large trucks / towing).

My new Edge is "pulling and veering" to the left...ANNOYING!!!
Waldo replied to fredro's topic in Owner Impressions
The Edge is very sensitive to this type of issue, just due to the nature of its suspension geometry. Other than alignment and tire rotations (did they do left to right or just front to back?) there isn't much that can be done. -
Trust the monitor, in your 2013 it's a "smart" monitor that takes into account a lot of factors. You should be just coming up to your first oil change, not your 3rd! 5000 kms is a ridiculously short oil change interval. Only the people selling you the oil change would think it's reasonable. I've been changing the oil in my cars once a year.

Bizarre & significant engine/pedal problem of unknown origin
Waldo replied to gribfib's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
It does sound to me like the engine is actually stalling, that would explain the thunk and the brake pedal going hard as you run out of vacuum assist. But I would expect you'd get more than just the wrench light; the red oil pressure light and I think the battery light should also come on. -
Unlock AV input on FordMy Touch?
Waldo replied to wlepse's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Well this is a year and a half old thread. A lot has changed in that time. -
The MFT adds the ability to turn off the courtesy wipe. So on a 2011+ you can, on anything older you can't, unless you have access to the dealers's programming tools as thirdgenlxi mentions.

Almost learned this the hard way...
Waldo replied to fmrcaptevil's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Yep, battery saver will turn it off after 10 minutes.
