Yours came with 20's? If so I think you are right on the rear end being OK...I think the 2011 and on have a different rear end for 20" and up but only if it came from the factory that way. Even with that revised rear end and the 3.7 tests showed the 3.5 on 17 or 18's was faster in a sprint to 60.

Definitely check with the vendor on fitment...make it their responsibility. But with that said you may want to rethink 22's. They will be very heavy and will ride rougher not to mention actually slow your acceleration. Don't know about previous year Edge's but from 2011 on when they went to larger wheels it changed the rear end too.

Yeah unfortunately I have tried battery cables, master resets fuse pulls and reboot apps...nothing ever seems to make this thing function correctly. The dealer recently replaced the APIM but we are still having issues and they basically told us to wait for the rewrite. What I think is strange is that up until recently the failures were always random. We never knew what we were going to see but with this USB failure it has been ever start for the last couple of weeks. Now that I am thinking about it more I am not sure if it has worked since the APIM was replaced. I know the ports work and that they still can read exFAT file systems since the reboot app works so I am at a lose to what the cause could be.

I don't care what anyone thinks...I just want mine to work.

Well our MFT no longer recognizes my external drive. It used to give the warning that the device wasn't recognized everytime you started up but would eventually come around. This is no longer the case and I have confirmed the drive is fully functional when connected to a PC. I even tried the reboot app they gave me but nada. So if the rewrite doesn't fix this I will likely be getting something similar. I don't want to take teh chance of connecting this up inside the console and not being able to disconnect/reconnect to try to get it functional. This MFT is so frustrating but I'll take this failure over the loss of heat.

Not sure on the bar position...just know when I did the HIR1's I had to put the HIR2 back. Not fastened but put back so I could see how the tabs needed to be oriented. Then I pulled it out without rotating and checked the HIR1 bulb tabs to match up as best as possible. Like you said it is a pretty blind operation especially if you have sausage fingers like me so anything you can do to line it up helps. Luckily with the HIR1 it has a connector like the HIR2 so I could use it as a reference. But I just had to take my time and make sure the bulb was good and flat before turning. I found that they got stuck fairly easily if only two tabs grabbed. At one point I thought about pulling the housings. When you say the connectors don't work is it due to the blue tabs on the stock connector? I know other hid kits I had they only supplied blade connectors to slide into the stock connector so I am not sure what to suggest here. Luckily it seems Retro rep gets back to people very quickly here so hopefully you'll be set soon.

What is wong with the back up camera? It could just be MFT issues which are quite common. If it is an issue with the MFT your best bet is to wait for the rewrite and hope it fixes the issues. We too are having lots of problems with the interface and are in a holding pattern until the new software comes out. If it doesn't fix the issues we will be looking to get out of the vehicle one way or another.

Haven't done HIDs yet but will try to help out since I have messed around with the bulbs. The 9012 is the stock size (HIR2) but many aftermarket HID companies don't carry that base since they have a 9006 which is very close. The only difference is the tabs on the 9012 are slightly bigger. So because of this tab difference the bulb fit can be a little tricky especially in these housings where you can't really see what you are doing. I recently put in modified HIR1 bulbs to test and had the same issue at first. I thought I got the bulb in then when I took a closer look I realized only two tabs caught. When I took it out I realized I was off and needed to rotate the bulb to get the tabs to line up correctly...then I was good and the bulb sits flat in the mount.

Yeah go figure we aren't allowed to pump our own gas but we still have the cheapest gas prices in the tri state area. I still pump my own 9 times out of 10, days when it is really cold I sit on the heated seat and enjoy.

Really like the idea and the parts should be pretty cheap so there is minimal risk in screwing it up. But with that said if you are going to be setting up a little assembly line let me know.

When you say a little off do you mean that the map data is outdated or that your position is off? Just wondering because we have been complaining about this but I haven't found many people that have the same thing. Our is off by at least 50 feet sometimes as much as 150. Doesn't sound like much but it is really annoying and did cause us to take a wrong tuen on a busy interchange.

Yeah the other ride my wife was looking at was a Q5 with the brown leather interior and one of the complaints I kept seeing was that the blue from jeans would transfer and discolor the leather. They did say it was fairly easy to clean just a PITA.
-
Congrats on the new ride...hope it is everything you hoped it would be. Also a big thanks for your service to our country. Hope you're getting to enjoy some of Germany. I know I had a lot of fun there when traveling for business.

I think they mean SD card and that is in your console by the USB connectors. Some say this has helped for them, but didn't do anything for me. I am with you though...I really bought this vehicle over other because of the technology and now I am kicking myself about that decision. I really hope the rewrite fixes things but I am losing confidence each day.

Glad to hear you got it running again.

Yeah that is why I originally tried them. While I didn't notice overall brighter light it did seem to have hot spots which I found annoying too. Could be because the tabs were modified and the bulb wasn't in exactly the right place but I didn't see any benefit to playing with it to find out.
-
I tried one and while it fit OK I didn't notice any extra output so I switched back to stock. I should say that the one I put in was originally modified to fit in a 9005 assembly.

Major Upgrade (Rewrite) Details

I would doubt they can keep people from saying they got a settlement but maybe they can't discuss the terms of the agreement?? Starting to think this might be my only option. My contact at Ford has gotten a little less helpful and I feel like everytime I try to "work" with Ford it is an excercise in futility. You get passed from department to department and never get an answer. Even when Ford tries to make a piece offering things go wrong. It is just an unbelievably frustrating experience. -
Oh man...sorry to hear about the troubles. Nothing worse than getting excited about a new mod and having it completely backfire on you.

Awesome...was hoping it was someone on here. Really liked my retractable shade on my LGT and would love to have one on the Edge but didn't want to take the chance of drilling the panels for an ill fitting cover. How does it look so far? Pretty good construction? Does the general shape look right?

Voice activated cell phone reception problems
wlepse replied to charlie4833's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
They say first quarter but it will be very dependent on what bugs the beta testers uncover. -
They still could be OK. Obviously the bolt pattern is the same but Ford changed the hub sizing. The older Edges were slightly larger so if they also provided hub centric rings with the wheels then you are fine.

Yes all the time and no there is no fix. According to my contact at Ford CS they know about the problem and say the new software will fix it. -
