  1. gknuckles; Are you sure you have the Factory remote start? I know that the factory remote (for a 2008) is actually a dealer installed option & would have a fob with a single button for starting. If it is not a factory system, the antenna for the remote system might have disconnected.
  2. Master reset before AND after the update. Haz, no you cant rollback.
  3. Yes. A4 SD Card works on the 3.5.1 update. It is a simple process to do the update, just remember it will take around 45-60 minutes and your engine must remain running the whole time. You can drive it while installing the update, but you won't be able to use the screen or Audio. Remember to do a Master reset before and after the update.
  4. Thanks a lot Haz. Really appreciate that you did not forget.
  5. Check the window sticker, does it list Navigation as part of the 302A package or as a seperate option? If it does, then your car MUST have the map/screen based Navigation. Also, what version of MFT odes it have? If it is the latest, V3.5.1, A3 SD Card will not work, you will need the new A4 Card. To find out the installed version number, go to Settings > Help > System Information > S/W Version If it is 4.29.12285, then you have V3.5.1 > needs A4 SD Card. If it is 4.28.12156, then you have V3.2.2 > A3 SD card. If it is 4.26.12023, then you have V3.0.2 > A3 SD Card.
  6. Do you know how did the dealer fix it? Also, where is that dealer located? I still have the same problem. Thanks.
  7. It does not autolock when you walk away. You have to press the black part (for chrome door handles) or bulging part (for body color door handle) for approximately 1 second for the doors to lock.
  8. I believ the added NAV will have a seperate speaker to speak out the directions, so whatever you had running on your MFT (Radio/CD/USB/SD/Phone) would continue to play through the vehicles speakers. You would even still be able to access the MFT through the cluster right screen.
  9. That is not the original equipment navigation. But an add-on. So the voice commands won't work, you won't get directions on the instrument cluster right screen and no directions on the information quadrant of the main screen. It is a great solution compared to having no navigation at all, but is is NOT the factory NAV.
  10. The mute button is faster, instant. It also used to pause whatever media that was running, CD/MP3 during the days of my Ford Taurus (aka FiveHundred).
  11. Check this: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f183/tsb-11-4-14-inability-unlock-door-possibly-intermittent-13645/
  12. Optics should be identical, I would think that they might have not been inserted correctly. I used to put the gasket ring from the 9006 bulb over the 9005 to make it sit better in the middle. 9005 is almost similar to the HIR1, 9006 is similar to the HIR2.
  13. Try HIR1 or 9011. They are supposed to be brighter but with shorter life.
  14. As far as I know, the Edge already has HIR2 bulbs as standard equipment. So the sheild issue is already covered. But I think that the bulbs you purchased would be the same as those already installed, in other words, there wont be any improvement.
  15. Might be a 2013 thing? My 2011 does not show anything except when the fogs are on.
  16. Search for HIR (with an R) bulbs. They are much brighter & illuminate better. They are some times reffered to as 9011 & 9012.
  17. Is there a source were I can get one for the 2011 MKX?
  18. ^^ What Dingo said. When headlights are set to auto, they will turn on when the wiper are activated.
  19. Yes. Only the front portion opens, the back is fixed.
  20. Timing chains should last the life of the vehicle. Never heard or read about timing chains needing regular replacements.
  21. Simple solution? Colors! Each tire stem can have a colored ring & thus the vehicle can indicate tire pressures by color which would be programmed only once! But there is aleady a solution in variuos other cars, a simple re-learn procedure that can be repeated each time tires are rotated, that starts with the Front Left tire, then Front Right, Rear Right & last Rear Left. Hech even Fords have that re-learn procedure, and with the same tire order, but Ford just doesn't make use of the added info of knowing which tire is which! I geuss they left out the added info to avoid extra complaints, customers would start complaining why is the pressure not accurate? Why don't I get reading while the vehicle is stationary, why is the pressure reading different compared my X-brand tire pressure gauge & so on!.
  22. So called "Direct" TPMS have Sensors in each tire that would wirelessly send data to the vehicle with information. Some vehicle have "Receivers" at each wheel well to collect the data, in which it is simple for the vehicle's PCM to know which wheel it is. Other vehicles (Fords included) receive the wireless Data from all four (4) sensors through one receiver (usually the same receiver of the Keyless remote), hence the vehicle needs to learn which sensor is for which tire & in case of tire rotations, it should be re-learned. Apparently, Ford chose the easy way by just complying to minimum law requirement of providing just a "Warning Light", which is better than nothing, but could have easily been turned to a much more useful feature by means of clever engineering without added equipment cost!
