Unfamiliar sound on my 2016 titanium edge
omar302 replied to Avi's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
There is no "Sound" alert on Ford's system. The alert is by vibration of the steering wheel. I don't if it was changed in newer models, but the 2016 Edge is like that. From the owner's manual: -
I don't see any reason to prevent remote starting with doors open, there is no safety or security risk I can think off that's more than starting it & letting it idle. For me, with our hot climate, remote starting has been a must have convenience since 2012 and I use it most of the time. Remote starting with a door or liftgate open means I can start it & get the A/C to start cooling while I'm loading things, or if someone (usually kids) entered the vehicle before me.

With my previous 2011 MKX, pressing the shifter's button while remote started would shutdown the engine. This was annoying when I forgot to press the engine start button & tried to shift out of park the engine would shutdown. Even though the shifter was locked, still pressing the button killed the engine. Is it still the case with your 2015 MKX? Thankfully it is not anymore with my current 2016 Edge & 2015 MKS.

As also confirmed by @Haz, this is the case in North American Fords. I currently own a 2016 Edge Sport & a 2015 Lincoln MKS, both do it, so did 2012 & 2013 Explorers and 2015 Expedition, Flex owned by friends. All NA models. I would be surprised if your Ford did NOT remote start with a door or the liftgate open.

This is the Ford Performance Tuner (Procal 4) which looks similar to the Livernoise Calibrator Touch, but with a bumper case. Even the software looks similar: This is from a Ranger forum.

I think you are referring to the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) which also includes some augmented noise to give an engine note. This sound is only inside the passenger compartment. An easy way to test if the hissing noise is really from the ANC, open a door slightly (to the first latch so the ajar warning comes up), ANC is disabled while the door is open. If the hissing is still there, then it is not from the ANC.

Want a New 2018 or 2019 Edge?
omar302 replied to edgeidiot's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
As an example, Here is a Toyota FJ Cruiser sold brand new in 2021 in spite of 2014 was the last model year for it to be offered in the US. Unsold vehicle stocks are more common than you think. -
Removing Side Roof Panels?

Yes, my bad. I did not interpret the picture correctly. -
Removing Side Roof Panels?
omar302 replied to TonyP's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The OP's photo seems to be of a 2007-2014 Edge, I am not sure if it is the same procedure as the 2015+ to remove that piece. so just take that into consideration. I was wrong. -
Can't find Early Model Edge Liftgate Lock Actuator
omar302 replied to SkipGrahamNC's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Seems the part number is actually "7T4Z-7843150-B". You can find it here or search eBay. Note that as per the vehicle fitment guide, the same part fits 2007 till 2014 Edge models with the manual tailgate. -
Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
omar302 replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Figured out 2 more mods on the MKX Cluster: Change the Brake light icon: 720-06-02 xxXx xxxx Changed X to 0 will show "BRAKE" as the light, 8 will make a brake icon. You can see the different brake light in the below images compared to the images in my previous posts above. Add "Drive Control" selector in vehicle settings. This will also remove the adaptive steering selection from the driver assist menu. Yes, the Edge does not have "Adaptive dampers", so this will only affect the "Adaptive Steering", but the benefit comes in the cluster showing "Sport mode" with red semi circles when "Sport" mode is selected. Also if Comfort mode was selected, blue semi circles will come up. 720-07-01 xxXx xxxx xxxx Changed X to 4 enables "Drive Control". "0" disables it. -
I believe what OP meant with ForScan is he tried to enable the feature using the module configuration in ForScan, there is an option for that but it does not work probably because the Edge's IPC firmware does not have that feature. My guess he'd have to flash the firmware of a 2019+ ST to get the cluster to function similarly (if even possible). ForScan does have a a lot of PIDs and, if i remember correctly, 2 for the boost pressure (commanded & actual) which can be displayed as gauges.

What @lildisco stated above, this is to turn off the interior lights from coming on with an open door. If you want to also prevent the exterior light from coming on, you'll need to use ForScan to enable "Silent Mode". This will give you an option on the instrument cluster under vehicle setting to enable it. When enabled, no light will come on (parking/puddle...etc.) when opening a door or the liftgate when the vehicle is off. 720-04-01 xxxX xxxx xxxx add 4 to the X value.

Only 20 or so cars on the lot

Modern vehicles have many chips in them to run the different electronic modules, hence even vehicle production is affected by the chip shortages. -
How to find out if a key fob is compatible?
omar302 replied to SIKEGIRL18's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
As per the 2008 sales brochure (Link) the Edge came standard with "Remote keyless-entry system with 2 integrated key fobs". Integrated meaning the remote Fob is part of the key itself like this (4-button) one or this (3-button) one, depending on weather it has a power liftgate or not. Hopefully a member with a 2008 will confirm this to you. -
Attached are from the Service Manual. @jmr061 drew it correctly and as @1004ron stated the old one was routed incorrectly, in my opinion. Was the belt ever replaced before and why are you replacing it now? Maybe the wrong routing caused the early failure. I feel like the image you took is mirrored or that the diagram is. Did you take with the front camera of your phone? (Edit: wrong ?)

LIncoln MKX to Ford Edge Instrument Cluster Swap
omar302 replied to onyxbfly's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Middle East, like mine, are similar to US. Same equipment & engines, only some additional cooling equipment & speedo in Km/h instead of MPH. Also FM radio has all frequencies. I already did the Cluster swap from a 2018 Canadian MKX.- 110 replies

LIncoln MKX to Ford Edge Instrument Cluster Swap
omar302 replied to onyxbfly's topic in Accessories & Modifications
A question to those who did the MKX Cluster retrofit, do your chimes work fine? Mine are now Lincoln chimes but the problem is they have noticeably lower volume. Also, I remember when closing the liftgate a warning chime used to come at the rear, this doesn't come anymore. I feel like the Lincoln Chimes are only coming from the front speakers instead of from front and back and hence the liftgate chimes not coming. Note: The chimes are coming from the speakers, not from the IPC. So it is not that issue.- 110 replies

Yes. it is an LED and replacement is only with the complete light assembly, which is expensive. No, it is not common, at least not by how many have reported it on this forum. There was another member who reported weak reverse lights recently (this post). Maybe check the wiring, maybe the LED is still functional. Also, this "Stupid" thing is common for all new vehicles as they are transitioning to LED lighting. Edit: I remember taking a peak at the PDI documents of my Edge & there was a note on replacing the rear revers light before delivery. So add this one also, though this was even before the Edge was first registered.
