Failing Backup Camera in '16 Ti
omar302 replied to Gadgetjq's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
As per the parts description here, this camera is only for 2015-2018 Edges! So you will be limited in your search. I think the problem is from the camera being powered on all the time as long as the ignition is on, not only when the camera image is displayed. During hot days (4-5 months of the year here!) the camera image becomes grainy after a long drive (my interpretation: hot camera), turn off the Edge for ~10 minutes and the camera image becomes clear. I had also faced the same issue in my previous 2011 MKX. Having the camera powered on all the time will definitely reduce its life span. Edit: By the way, if you are up to part scavenging, maybe also try to retrofit a rear Camera washer ? and post a guide on your website. -
Side Mirror Frame
omar302 replied to Gill's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Unfortunately, the frame doesn't come as a separate part. You best option is to look for a used mirror that has the same options as yours (memory, BLIS, turn signal). -
Member's details not shown anymore?
omar302 replied to handfiler's topic in Forum Help & Site Suggestions
@robertlane @akirby Yes, please turn them back on. It is very annoying not knowing what vehicle the poster is referring to. -
My guess would be due to the high pressure put on the intake system from the turbos would help clean it out. The carbon build up problem in early DI engines were naturally aspirated engines and with EGR systems. Modern vehicles having turbos and with better timing control that replace EGR systems would help reduce carbon build up. Also, engine & intake designs play a critical rule as even some port fuel injected engines suffered carbon build up. But at least with port injection additives could be added to fuel.

Bad battery? If it is more than 2-years old I'd suggest to start by replacing it. From you photo, I geuss it is the factory installed battery because MtotorCraft replacement have red stickers. If that is the case, then your battery is at least 5 years old. Don't remember reading a case in this forum, but googling does show results. Just search (rotten egg smell battery and you'll find many results).

Ford to cancel its Ontario-built Edge crossover
omar302 replied to handfiler's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The article quotes Automotive News Canada as the source. Opening that link is a "subscriber only" article, but you can read it is as per a "Forecaster", so not really credible news. Looking at the sales numbers, the Edge has been selling consisting numbers for most of its life, it also ranks 5th in 2019 & in Q1-2020 among midsize SUVs which include 3 -row larger SUVs. Wouldn't make sense to cancel it especially with Sedan production stopping at Ford. Ford would still need something between the Escape & Explorer. The only problem is that it has always been based on the Fusion platform which is seizing soon. In my opinion, they should use the Explorer platform for the next generation, then they would be able to make a true ST version. -
Hi. Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forums.

Came upon an interesting article (posted in a thread in F150Forum) about Engine Oil for Turbocharged Direct Injection Engines which are increasingly being the normal nowadays. Which also applies to Ford Ecoboost line of engines. In short, there is now a new Engine Oil Standard, API SN Plus, SP, & GF6, which have been designed to reduce Low-Speed Pre-Ignition. Going Ford Edge Owners Manuals, it seems Ford switched to the API SN Plus in 2019. The Oil Specification WSS-M2C946-B1 (US part number 5W30-Q1SP) instead of the previous WSS-M2C946-A (XO-5W30-QSP). On MotorCraft website, it is also stated "This oil also meets WSS-M2C946-B1 and SN PLUS; therefore it can reduce oil derived low speed pre-ignition." So it would be recommended to check for the newer oils regardless of your Ecoboost Edge's year. Look for an oil that is API SN Plus, API SP, or GF6.

Unfortunately, if you heard a pop it probably means one of the front clips broke. If it did break, the initializing procedure will not help. the good news is that there is now an after market solution that costs way less. I haven't tried it, nor do I remember if anyone in this Forum posted about using them. They weren't available before I sold my 2011 MKX. http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/2007-2014-Ford-EdgeLincoln-MKX-Sunroof-Guide-Repair-Kit-_p_112.html

The 2009 Edge uses a different type of sensor. Strap or band mounted sensor. The 2012 Escape uses a stem mounted sensor. This is probably the reason it didn't work. In case they are compatible, the strap mounted sensor is usually mounted 180 degree from the stem, so you would need to hold the re-learning tool at that position, not at the stem like the newer models.

Another update was released for the MX+ & EX. Both dated 09-June-2020.

I am only guessing here, but it seems like the hose is an EVAP related hose. Maybe this one? But I don't think the clip is sold separately by Ford. Found some aftermarket clips on Amazon like this from Dorman and this from Needa, but can't find a way to select the right fit.

The standard wheels on the ST are 20", not 18". One more difference, 20" replacement tires are generally cheaper and easier to find than 21" tires. Also, 21" are more prone to damage due to the lower profile tires.

I suggest if you can use ForScan to see if any DTCs are present for the RGTM module after doing a RGTM Self test.

When I had my 2011 and the AC gas was low, the driver side would lose cooling while passenger side was ok. Once gas leaked more, both sides would lose cooling. So maybe that is also your issue, low AC gas.

ABS Code without light or loss of function (DTC: U2002)
omar302 replied to colinc755's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Seems this code has to do with wiring, and since as per the description it was detected previously (i.e. not currently present), it is most probably due to unplugging the cable. Just reset it and see if it comes back again after sometime. -
Liftgate panel handle cover missing
omar302 replied to marpa73's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Depending on where you are, there are shipping companies that make ordering from the US very easy. Like Shopandship.com, they would give you a virtual address in the US (and other cities worldwide) and your transaction with the seller would be like a normal domestic purchase, then Shopandship would take care of shipping it to you. There rates are usually less than what the seller gives you. Also, at least here, in many cases it would also be cheaper than the local dealer's price. -
2019 Edge Does it still use a SD card for the Nav
omar302 replied to pharden's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No SD Card. -
The 2.7L in the F-150 also has the same issue. Ford updated the Oil Pans to a design with a "press in place gasket", but as far as I know this only applies for 2018+ models as the Oil pans are not interchangeable with 2015-2017 models. So hope that Ford releases a similar redesigned replacement for 2015-207 models. The newer TSBs ("NHTSA link for F-150" & "NHTSA link for the Edge") mention the replacement Oil Pans. Also for the Edge the procedure seems much simpler than before, though it still depends on the detailed procedures in the Workshop Service Manuals.

Thanks for trying and informing me. Seems I have something wrong. Will have to do some investigating. -
New Firmware has been released for most of OBDLink's adapters. "This release fixed a serious bug: Fixed FATAL ERROR when using multi-frame reception on CAN".
